Hissing_Sid
Personally, I think this is a dumb idea. All that's gonna happen is that all -ve points given to the mates of the "rep mods" would be removed. Prometheus decided he hates me the other day, PlasticMag is currently spamming like a mad thing in a desperate bid to reach 500 posts. No offence to Airsoftfreak but I would trust the other pair to fetch me a bottle of pop.
Prometheus
I'm not wanting to do this to a) clear my record b ) vengance c) destroying bad rep.... I only want to have this happen, whether I am a part of it or not, because I think that there are alot of people out there who just randomly badrep people, and then those affected have to ask a moderator to clean up their repsheet because of bull that is spread all over it sometime. Sid, I was angry at you...but not so much now. I know your badrep was justified....so I just take it in stride. While you may get on my nerves sometimes....I've basically come to relize that alot of people do.. But, boy to I love watching you flame other people....it is funny sometimes. ~P
Tinkerton
id be up for monitoring the rep system.
Prometheus
YAY! But then again....it is up to the mods to choose. MODS: Still waiting for a decision on if arnie will let us mod it. ~P
Sledge
Pretty much what Sid said. No offence or antipathy towards anyone, but to paraphrase Groucho Marx "I wouldn't accept anyone as a moderator who wanted to do it."
Prometheus
Well, if they didn't want to do it...then they wouldn't do it ..... ~P
Chris P
Well, if they didn't want to do it...then they wouldn't do it ..... ~P <{POST_SNAPBACK}> But then Sledge pulls out a raging bull and forces you to do it
Sledge
There's a difference between someone who accepts responsiblilty when asked by others to help out, and someone who actively seeks it. The political system we have demonstrates that.
Prometheus
True, but I would do a good job. I seek responsibility because I have nothing else to do**. **= Waiting for S&W M500 8" to come in mail ~P
Tinkerton
im not fussed either way really. i suggested some form of a rep point mod a while ago, but hey, if general consensus is "fruit off" then so be it.
Prometheus
Me either. I just want it to happen already. We need a repmod team. ~P
gazchap
No, we don't need a rep mod team. The reputation system will always be flawed whilst it is available outside of the For Sale/Wanted forums. No amount of moderation will solve that.
Prometheus
It may still be flawed, but it will be less abused than if it weren't moderated. ~P
Ghost_Rider
Mods now have the ailty to remove rep entirely, so this discussion is moot. A special rep team is not needed, the existing mods do a great job on their own.
HEaT
Does anyone really care about rep points? >< Edited July 12, 2005 by HEaT
Sledge
That's kind of what concerns me. The people volunteering to mod the rep system are the people who get very worked up about it. If it has to be modded (which I don't believe it does, other than existing moderators having the ability to remove really stupid points), better it be done by people who can be more objective. xRAZERx
I think the rep system should be MOLLE compatable. So everytime Havoc Man gets a rep point he can affix it to his vest. After about a day he wouldn't be able to walk.....

xRAZERx
All these volunteers, can you say power trip? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes you can say it, but they'd delete it and give you warning points if you did...
Prometheus
OK. WTF? I said, "I don't care if I am on the team. I just want it to be done..." Why are you guys still talking about the fact of volunteers. All I am trying to do is offer an idea to lighten the load of the core moderators and give them time to do what they originally came on board to do. Moderate the forum chitchat. MODS: LOCK THIS THREAD. PEOPLE ARE BEING STUPID ABOUT IT. MAYBE LATER WE'LL OPEN THIS TOPIC AGAIN WHEN THEY SEE HOW BAD A SITUTATION THIS COULD TURN OUT TO BE! ~P
PlasticMag
(NEWSFLASH) I'm joking. Hence the Jason smilies...
Prometheus
What? I'm confused. Even if you are kidding, sledge and them arn't. They don't want to have it modded....so it probably won't be. ~P
Chris P
If the mods don't see a need to make changes........ Something tells me it ain't going to happen
PlasticMag
Nah. The system really corrects itself. I think it would be funny to reset everyone to no more than 10 reps and see who get the most the fastest.
