Wehrmacht54
HMMM....Ca249 sounds like it has some serious cosmetic issues. Sounds like easy issues to fix...but frustrating as well. Hopefully CA will realize their mistakes and correct that in future production runs.
Screwschom
Doubtful, the CA249 is a lump of lard and no one should ever buy one. But to be honest, this gun has far less issues than my CA M15A4 when I first got it. The gorilla glue seems like it will be a great fix, im just keeping pressure on it until sunrise. solution_zero
well, after much deliberation, I've decided to build a HK21 for my support role. If anyone wants a good deal on a new CA M249 box mag (with deact linked rounds), here: http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forums/inde...showtopic=25654
TheRabbit
I actually have no gripes with the gun itself, i think its a great piece of machinery, the box sucks, and the stock is enh. otherwise no complaints, i in fact love it.
keyserSOZE
thanks for the heads up. Maybe I will just reinforce the inside of the box mag and the stock with some carbon fiber and resin. so far no major complaints. However I had to replace the stock piston because it already had shown signs of wear...after only 300 rounds with the stock spring. I put in a stock marui piston and upgraded to an m120. And after a couple of thousand rounds, the piston is still in mint condition. Im thinkining those yellow pistons that CA has on their stock guns must be really soft. I will be upgrading to a deepfire titanium teeth piston just for peace of mind.
Wehrmacht54
Well I guess I may just have to get one. Hahha I keep debating it, I got just enough for the gun but no box mag. But man do I love SAWs. I'd say if the TOP mag fits the CA gun I'll just get that. Decisions decisions....
TheRabbit
the top mag does fit the ca m249... what's teh problem, i have both. you have no excuse, buy the gun now. as for the piston, i shot about 4000rds this last sunday and no worries yet, cycles great.
Maz
So are we better off getting the Top box mag for it than the CA one, how strong is the Top one?
Screwschom
20,000 rounds and no piston problems. Although I ordered a deepfire piston for the day when it does strip. I find it common in CA guns to have the piston show wear, but actually last a long time. The switch unit is very impressive. Note to anyone with a M249, if you ever take the stock off meaning you take out BOTH pins you will notice that the lower receiver hinges down... while it comes down maybe an ince at the most... do NOT pull it all the way down like I did . Its not made to and I had to tighten a screw and do some pounding to get it back to normal. Bottom line, I absolutley LOVE this gun. PS- when loading the mag into the gun, press the bb's release on the top of the mag insert so there isnt any pressure from the box mag, failure to do so may result in bb's poping out when attaching the magazine to the gun and bb's preventing the adapter from cliping into the gun all the way and making a positive feed connection. PSS- gorilla glue fixes everything
keyserSOZE
btw, I finally took pics of my m249. seen here with some stuff I just recently got also. detail shots

Screwschom
I took my hear guard off and I seem to like the look better. I ordered Mk1 handguards this morning, so I will take pics of the gun when i get that stuff installed. As keyserSOZE can probably attest to, some of the paint finishes on the gun are of rather low quality.

I wanted to give my m249 some character. I didnt like the semi-satin finish. cool! mk1 handguards!
keyserSOZE
the G&G metal feed tray with rail fits with only a slight modification to the rear of the cover.

Catchv22
The M249 isn't that long, but I have met a person with a silenced PSG1 which was taller than himself.

keyserSOZE
Keyser, how substantial was the modification? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> just a hacksaw and about 3 minutes of cutting off a metal tab in the rear of the cover.

ovv
Well, just a friendly note that it may not be all fine and dandy, like my friend's one. First up, 31 rounds through the gun and the stock piston was stripped. Open up, replace with a stock marui piston, and after some k's of rounds some bearings have been broken and a few axles cut of the gears. So far my friend is NOT happy at all with the CA249. ~1000euros would've bought a hell of a gun, just not a working CA249, it seems. Most likely something seriously wrong with the whole mechbox. I'm not getting one, that's for sure.
