Jimxorb
That is a bit odd, maybe its in a H&K theme, wonder if it will have any tardes on it.

unimatrix001
It is the body of the HK416 which is effeectively a HK M4 with a RIS and a few adjustments, but that is what the body is of <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This "few adjustments" make a crappy American thunderstick to a real reliable rifle. The main difference is that the HK416 uses a gas-piston like the G36 instead of the direct gas-system of the AR15. 1st Commando
hk were actually being contracted to make ar15 type rifles for the US military much the same as the did here with the l85 ! basically they are about the only marque that can make something fire reliably
Zero_DgZ
Since its an open military design, any idiot can manufacture the things. That's why Beretta, Taurus, and so forth all make M9 variants, and that's why everbody and his brother makes AR-15's (Armalite, Bushmaster, Colt...).
BigAl
Beretta make M9 varients, really? Don't you think thats because the M9 Is made by BEretta USA for the US Military and is a varient of the 92F. As for the Taurus pistols they to used to be built by Berreta in Brazil, they then sold the machine tools and the lcence to Taurus.
Sledge
^ What he said. Anyone else making the 92F can expect some legal problems.
1st Commando
and colt havent made an ar15 in a great many years or in fact any other firearms
Feanaro
and colt havent made an ar15 in a great many years or in fact any other firearms <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Eh, what? They most certainly do make AR-15 style rifles. They are listed on their website and I believe they are currently the sole contractor for the M4(A1).

outlaw
This "few adjustments" make a crappy American thunderstick to a real reliable rifle. Thats funny i thought i was an ak lover and a m16 hater till i read that. The way i remember it it seemed like they put out a press release that the m4 sucked and the xm8 rocked and after that they make their own m4 anyway.

Krazy L
HK m416It and the HK m8 were in the race for the armys new battle rifle. It is whene a good company goes bad.

So H&K decided that it's better to have two strings to one's bow instead of one, if the worst comes to the worst and the US Army decides to keep their ARs. Anyway - H&K get's an order . That's a very smart business strategy.
Machineabuse
Actually the M16A2s produced for the US military are manufactured by FN. That Colt ever got the contract for the exclusive production of M4s for the US government was a bit of a farce.
1st Commando
yep colt have theirs made "out of house" !! they are more like a contractor who subcontract the construction and then stamp it with their trades and supply to order
Trigger Happy10
Now i might have to get a new m4 and put a metal body on it caus it says H&K

expvideo
I know it's already been said, I just wanted to throw in with a "yes, it's a real gun"... So the "new assault rifle" battle was one sided? HK vs HK? That's kind of funny. Good business planning. And I had no idea that FN was contracted for the m16. Are you sure? hmm. (scratches head)... (eats flea) So I'm a geardo, which obviously means I love my M4 (m15a4), but my roommate hates it. Until he saw the HK body. Now he wants one. Aaron
