gazchap
Was one ever made with an actual TM spas 12 underneath? Or did I imagine it? The project notes that Arnie has in the projects section of this site uses a SPAS-12 as the launcher component, but I don't know whether any of the pre-made kits or rifles use a SPAS-12 for parts. At some point I will be buying a SPAS-12 so I'll be able to compare

Basho
It's not very easy to aim at small targets, the "ironsights" in the carry handle aren't very accurate so you gotta shoot it from the hip <{POST_SNAPBACK}> HICKS If it comes to that, I'll do us both. Let's see that it doesn't Here, I'd like to introduce you to a close personal friend of mine. He picks up his pulse-rifle and with the casually precise movements of long practice he snaps open the bolt, drops out the magazine and hands it to her. HICKS M-41A 10mm pulse-rifle, over and under with a 30mm pump-action grenade launcher. Ripley hefts the weapon. It is heavy and awkward. But there is an irrational promise of security in its lethal cold steel lines, to at least the sense that she will be in some greater measure the master of her own fate. She raises it clumsily. RIPLEY What do I do? Ripley has the stock of the M-41A snugged up to her cheek and is awkwardly trying to keep up with Hicks' instructions. The Corporal is standing close behind her, positioning her arms. It's intimate but that's the last thing on their minds. HICKS Just pull it in real right. It will kick some. When the counter here heads zero, hit this... He thumbs a button and the magazine drops out, clattering on the floor. HICKS Just let it drop right out. Get the other one in quick. Just slap it in hard, it likes abuse. Now, pull the bolt. CLACK. HICKS You're ready again. Ripley repeats the action, not very smoothly. Her hands are trembling. She indicates a stout TUBE underneath the slender pulse-rifle barrel. RIPLEY What's this? HICKS Well, that's the grenade launcher ...you probably don't want to mess with that. RIPLEY Look, you started this. Now show me everything. I can handle myself. HICKS Yeah. I've noticed. I know what I am watching tonight! LETS ROCK! MARINES! WE ARE L-E-A-V-I-N-G! I've seen people mount an RDS on the top of the carry-handle but it looks dreadful IMO. Are there any pukka sights inside that top groove or do you just aim through the groove? Might be worth fitting a basic post-and-notch setup in there? Is that in the M41A manual you told me about earlier? I haven't actually read through most of the technical manual - it took me so long to get hold of a copy I virtually put it straight in shrink wrapping and put it in my box of Alien-related stuff Yep. Actually, I think I have a copy of the USCM Tech manual saved as a PDF somewhere. 50mb though. Was one ever made with an actual TM spas 12 underneath? Or did I imagine it? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> *deep breath* Okay, first thing is that it's NOT a SPAS 12 shotgun built into the M41a. It's a SPAS12 cage REVERSED (look at it closely ) and with a shortened SPAS grip. The action is actually from a Remington wingmaster shotgun. Popular opinion is that you can't fit an airsoft shotgun in there very easily. The real-steel SPAS cage is metal (duh!) and is quite thin. The plastic cage on a Marui gun is a lot thicker. So thick, in fact, that you can't get something like a Maruzen 870 internal mechanism into it. I understand that people have completed the job by hacking away at the shotgun receiver until there was little enough of it that it would actually fit into the Marui SPAS cage. Of course, once you've done that there's now nowhere to put the batteries. People were looking into using LiPo batteries built into the carry-handle to power the gun. Course, if you do that then the gun is sidelined once the battery goes flat. I reckon a battery sling would be the way forward if you got the shotgun to work. Also, none of these ideas make use of the pukka M41a kit. They all require you to build the launcher/shotgun part from scratch. The page about the M41a on Arnies site is based on info by a guy called Phil Higgins. He's kinda famous for his LaserTag gear. He is a bit of a strange fish. The stuff he produces tends to look a bit dodgy and yet he is a stickler for detail in the work of others. The fact that he's knocked up drawings showing an M41a with a full-sized SPAS cage and grip demonstrates that pretty well. Oh *fruitcage* yeah I've got to watch aliens again Edit Want me to get you you're slippers corpral? Yes please! Looking to my glass eye! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Apone says "Look into my eye." Hissing_Sid
Is this custom gun made with the conversion kit that ASC makes? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I doubt that ASC "makes" the conversion kit. I don't think they actually make much of anything at all. Armour (I think) is the company which makes the kit which is most often sold. You buy the kit and then bung it on a stock Marui Thompson and add a 190 round short mag as well.
Basho
I think it would be easier to mod a grenade launcher moscart than chop up a shotgun. Just get yourself a thin tube fill it full of BB's and blast greengas into it.
gazchap
I've seen people mount an RDS on the top of the carry-handle but it looks dreadful IMO.Yeah, I can imagine. There's no point in putting any extra sights or anything on there IMO, it looks great as it is. Are there any pukka sights inside that top groove or do you just aim through the groove?I haven't looked too closely, but as far as I can tell it's just "aim through the groove and hope for the best" God knows how Hudson managed to take out so many Aliens in that last stand without aiming the damn thing. Given the speed that they move at it's a big surprise indeed. Actually, I think I have a copy of the USCM Tech manual saved as a PDF somewhere. 50mb though.Gotta have the real thing, a PDF just won't do Apone says "Look into my eye." He's pulling his lower eyelid down with his middle finger. He's flipping Hudson the bird. Hah! In all the years I've been an Aliens fan, I've never noticed that. CplHicks
Whoever asked about the SPAS, they used a Remington m870 which was cut down to fit inside the SPAS cage. There is one kit i've seen that uses a 9v bat to power the LED display, saying that it might have been a static model. But thats still a nice as hell piece.

Basho
Ripley scans the group as they shuffle past her to a bank of lockers. Though not supermen they are lean and hardened...tough, capable, jaded. They combine the specialized techno-combat training of the twenty-first century fighting man with those qualities universal to "grunts" through the ages. SERGEANT APONE moves down the row of freezers. HUDSON This floor's freezing. APONE Christ. I never saw such a buncha old women. You want me to fetch your slippers, Hudson? HUDSON Would you, Sir?
