doc_newstead
It's not so different, just a different brand really. It's a little sweeter some say I found this on Wikipedia under Vegemite btw "It is notorious for the dislike it generates amongst some foreigners who try it, particularly Americans." Rikkster
This is Marmite. The official Marmite website describes it as: "MARMITE is a concentrated yeast extract paste, enjoyed at any time of the day, whether on toast for breakfast, in sandwiches at lunchtime, or as an added ingredient in stews and casseroles." Concentrated paste. It doesn't get much better than that. As long as it's not you eating it.
Spedz
"MARMITE is a concentrated yeast extract paste," concintrated see it's pure goodyness in a JAR YAYYYYYYYYYYYYY ^^'''
HaVoC
concintrated It was spelt for you in the quote YOU posted in YOUR post, and you still couldn't get it right Not to worry, anyway... Anyway, yes, Marmite. It says it's "Enjoyed at any time of the day". Marmite is enjoyed?!
joeking27
That's a low blow, havoc. Marmite is always enjoyed, its just some people forget how nice it really is. They gat caught up in a mass advertising campaign about it.
HaVoC
True, the whole 'love it or hate it' thing isn't really used by the actual company who produce it (you see very few adverts for it on TV or elsewhere), yet it's now a common phrase that something (the FAMAS, perhaps ) is 'Marmite'. All the free advertising must do wonders in bringing in new customers - after all, as long as they SELL the jar, who cares if the person EATS it?
Spedz
ahh wel thats capatlism for you at it's finest hour. yes i know i know i misspelt it i can't help it havoc me got 'learning difficulties' (hahahaha oh .....bugger)
HaVoC
Meh t'was only a gentle jest anyway This theme of unofficial marketing carries on further than Marmite - look at Pot Noodle. Any quick, 'just-add-water' dried snack is now often called a 'Pot Noodle'. Then you have people asking "Can I just have a Coke please?". It must be great for the companies who own these brands - they needn't advertise!
