Redcap
For some reason, POIEdit is.'t allowing the OV2 poi files to be uploaded to TT6 - and I can't find the poi files on my hard drive, to manually do the update either - any ideas?
Arnie
For adding the ov2s I just copy them to the maps folder on the tomtom device and then you can add them in tomtom as a point of interest that's displayed. What type of TomTom have you got?
Marlowe
For adding the ov2s I just copy them to the maps folder on the tomtom device and then you can add them in tomtom as a point of interest that's displayed. What type of TomTom have you got? Ditto, but then I run TT5. I wouldn't have thought TT6 would abandon the old OV2 approach to POIs?
Arnie
And as a small aside, ello RedCap.. long time no speaky
Redcap
Hiya Arnie Mobile number's still the same, mate - gimme a bell sometime Re TT - I'm using TT6 for WM5; it still uses OV2 files; I managed - dunno how - to get the ASCUK version via a google search, but I'd obviously like the AA version I've run a search of both HDDs here, no Airsoft OV2 files bar the ones I manually d/l'd off ASCUK What's happened? Arnie
The ov2's for here are in: arniesairsoft.co.uk/links/map/output.ov2 arniesairsoft.co.uk/links/map/uk_airsoft_sites.ov2 arniesairsoft.co.uk/links/map/uk_airsoft_retailers.ov2 arniesairsoft.co.uk/links/map/uk_airsoft_surplus.ov2 arniesairsoft.co.uk/links/map/uk_airsoft_equipment.ov2 I don't think I linked to them other that in the forums. they are auto regenerated every day so update with the latest updates from the links database. Arnie
The POIS in OV2 format would be an amazingly handy utility for people attempting to plan a skirmish / pick up other members on the way. I can foresee it making AG06 next year (if it happens) a lot easier to plan for those of us driving. Edit: I keep refreshing the map, but no indication of my flag as of yet. I've entered it in the correct format and refreshed etc to make sure I wasn't just looking at a cached version. Is there a period before it'll register the flag? Marlowe: What details did you enter? I think.. I cached the files so that they update every hour or so, can't remember how I coded it though.
Redcap
Arnie - many thanks for the linkages; they worked a treat, even if I did have to cut'n'paste them, lol For those who aren't that well computer-know-how'd-up, here're those links again, properly formatted - RIGHT click and "Save As" to save 'em http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/links/map/output.ov2 http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/links/map/u...rsoft_sites.ov2 http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/links/map/u...t_retailers.ov2 http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/links/map/u...oft_surplus.ov2 http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/links/map/u...t_equipment.ov2 Happy New Year, one and all Roger
Redcap
update time - I dunno what's happened, but the new version of "find it" is crashing FF 2.0.0.9 (and I'm using the noscript plugin, if that helps: Currently allows Arnies and Google, in case you're wondering). New version of the find it page just locks up FF totally, no warnings. Any ideas?
Zed
I've updated some TomTom ov2 POI files if anyone is interested? http://www.megaupload.com/?d=KWYHRUVC http://www.megaupload.com/?d=X73RIJF6 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=O6TTIS2D http://www.megaupload.com/?d=EOJHFISE Details here: http://www.airsoftcommunity.co.uk/forums/i...p;#entry1173128 EDIT: Hmm my link to ASCUK appears to redirect? I take it some bad blood between forums or something Just cut and paste the link if you want what i did and what they cover exactly. Edited May 23, 2008 by Zed
wilfire
Also seems to lock up my fire fox 2.0.0.14 no warning at all just kills it dead. Not running no script. The only thing is flash block but as far as I could tell there isn't any flash so shouldn't be a problem.
Marlowe
To any unaware, someone over there a while ago decided it was quite droll to redirect. Whatever floats their boats, I guess. All it means is that you must access that forum directly via the address bar / google, rather than through links on this forum. I've used your OV2 pois in the past Zed. Very useful, cheers. Redcap and Wilfire: Sorry, not seen your posts until now. I'll speak to Arnie about the new version of Findit. There seems to be a lot of decent airsoft maps out there now judging by some recent and unashamedly self-publicising threads on this forum (hey, if people find them useful, I'm not censoring them ), so I'm not sure if he wishes to keep updating it or not. If not I'll get in touch with the chaps of these other maps and see if we can get some sort of official link to their products.

wilfire
Thanks Marlowe. It the first time I have seen a web page take down FF so good luck tracking what ever is causing it down.
zard
Fx2.0.0.14 on Vista x64, things pause for a moment or two, but it does load, slowly (maybe having 8 gigs of RAM was a good idea after all). Marlowe, I think you may have wanted to talk to me?
Marlowe
Just as an update, Arnie's not been around much recently to approach, so I'll leave him an e-mail and hopefully he'll update on progress with Find It here. Zard: If in future you could let the forum staff know if you're going to use the forum to advertise your own sites, it'd be appreciated - generally we pull threads designed to self-publicise where no permission has been granted. However, seeing how Find It is currently out of commission we've allowed your thread to stay up, as it wouldn't be in the interest of the community to deny them knowledge of your useful resource. If that's not what you meant, and there's some other matter you want to discuss, please PM me with it. It's best not to clutter up threads with off topic posts any more than needs be. Cheers. zard
I did originally submit it for news a few weeks back (same time as I submitted it to airsoft news) but nothing happened. Apologies for the, err, intrusion? and I'll make sure that I'll let yourself, or another staffer know before hand. Thanks for calling it useful!
Marlowe
Zard: I'm afraid I didn't receive anything via e-mail about your service. If you resend I'll stick it up on the front page. For what it's worth, we don't generally mind non-profit stuff like what you're offering using the forum; it's just more a matter of courtesy to the Site owner / staff to obtain permission before you use a service we provide / manage to promote your own products. For that reason generally it's best if you pm Arnie or a member of staff just to get actual permission in writing, rather than assuming that because you've sent an e-mail we've given approval. No worries anyhow. Don't mention it, by the way - just because it's an alternative to Arnie's (admittedly currently out of date) Find It, I've no problem recognising that other good alternatives exist. It's not a competition after all - we're all in the sport together. I still use Fire-Support's Airsoftmap and occasionally Zed's pois (based on ASCUK) for the same reason. Anyhow, I'll leave this thread to Arnie now; I assume he'll either sort the issues and update or retire Find It in the wake of Zard's map. Cheers.
