I think you should send it back. Or maybe try upgrading your spring?(I think a 120% is about 328fps)  BTW, found a site that had some RS parts for the M249, maybe some of you are interested? It should be possible, to make the part you saw of your gun placed back on with screws or something(kinda like how the CA M249 works)

Foukus
BTW, have anyone black dust near the motor? I have loads of it on my motor. I think it is coal dust (or something like that). Motor is still running good.
staticzero
EDITEDÂ heres what i've got so far... And a little later.... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Looking good. It seems you're progressing along similar lines as my plans, glad to see it's working out. My RAS only shipped on the 11th so I'll be lucky to get it by this weekend. Not in time for game day methinks. Â BTW, have anyone black dust near the motor? I have loads of it on my motor. I think it is coal dust (or something like that). Wupjak
I'm a sniper by trade, but after reading and drooling over Staticzero's review and all of the subsequent information, I now find myself the owner of one of these fantastic little monsters. I bought the Para, fitted it with a replacement piston O-ring, an unmentionable spring and a 9.6v large battery. HOLY jeez, instant firebreathing intimidator. Â ANY concern about the plasticky/cheap/light/junky stigma attached to these offerings should be met with all of the attention I gave it: None. The gun is solid, aesthetically very pleasing, a solid performer and a great value. Since I find myself without the urge to schlep a 20 lb. weapon over hill and dale, this package is perfect for what I wanted: A VERY high volume/VERY high rate of fire, reasonably lightweight weapon. Don't misinterpret - the thing isn't a feather - with the magazine filled, it's about as heavy as my KJW M700 with scope, bipod and magazine and heavier than my all metal M4. Relatively speaking though, it's light. Â Two of my teammates have two CA SAWs EACH (one MkII, one Para EACH, crazy gits). I've held Big Dave's Para, and it's a fearsome tool. It's a gorgeous piece, very solidly built and menacing. It's also pretty heavy, as I'm certain our gentle readers are already aware. Â Since I intend to use this weapon infrequently and in a very limited application, the lower weight is a boon and aids me in performing the primarly mission I have selected for it. I'll be mobile and required to suppress and/or provide cover fire. What better tool? Â Aside: Staticzero, did you play with the SAW at Op: Ocelot? I distinctly remember thinking (after reading this review), 'oh, that guy has a STAR SAW, cool' and after learning from Cal that you're a local, I thought it might be you whom I saw that day. I was one of the ACU guys, fyi. Edited January 12, 2006 by Wupjak
staticzero
Well said, Wupjack. Â It looks like we're in the same boat as far as how we plan to use the SAW goes, it's not something I plan on using all the time. Mostly I prefer to play a different (less direct, shall we say) role but the affordability and manageability of the Star has given me the opportunity to branch out and try something new. I'm appreciative. Â And yes, I did use it at the game last month during the third mission. It'll probably be out again at least for one mission this month too, as I've not gotten to field it at a 'proper' FPS yet.

Cali
Staticzero, sorry to interject here, but I've sent you an e-mail from your team's site (your pm is off here), but have no idea if that e-mail address still works. I hope you have the time to e-mail me back. You'll probably be see Wupjaks SAW in the future.
ColDaz
It's a bit too expensive for me to bother with a second box mag I think. Â That's one of the reasons I was disappointed with a lack of a space for M16 mags, as they would be cheap and easy to carry compared to a spare boxmag. Plus I already have M16 mags. Â Oh well.
Wupjak
Indeed, the ability to use M16 magazines would be very handy. Perhaps in future someone will build a replacement for the bb inlet/power interface spot on the receiver to allow for M4 mags to be used. Stranger things have happened. Â Our SAW gunners both use box mags and carry multiple metric buttloads of bbs to dump into said mags as the game progresses. While at this time I can't see the need for more than 2500 rounds in a game, redundancy is security. I'll be lugging an extra 5,000 around with me, I guess. Â I got to unleash this bad boy in daylight this morning. I giggled like a madman as it put out a white fog o' bbs and scared the nearby wildlife. I think I have the hop up tuned properly, range is decent enough to be very effective in the 100-125 foot range, maybe a bit more....

Hillslam
... While at this time I can't see the need for more than 2500 rounds in a game... Hey, this is the second or fourth time I've seen a comment like this in this thread.  Fellow SAW gunners, you need to change that mindset. Free yourselves from the shackle of the rifleman yoke. Let go of your sniperman round-counting inhibitions. Think like a support gunner. Start to feel the power of support gunnage. Accept the power. Embrace it. Let it flow. Feed it, feel it, love it, BE it...  Lay down the fire. 10k rounds per game, easy.  smack em, yack em
Wupjak
I realize the playstyle is different, I'll endeavor to make the mental transition.
