shmook
Anyone over the age of 16 riding a BMX needs to take a long hard look at themselves. Adults on a BMX? Please grow up...

FireKnife
I don't recall that being in the Olympics, i think you want the Roman Gladatorial tent But my idea of Suburban Gladiators, lock down a chav infested block of flats, then give them a 'last one out gets triple child benefits for a year' then televise it but only on B&W so the censors and fat mothers don't complain. Would make a fortune and only have to pay for one chav to have child support rather than 50. Though we could just not give it to him and burn the building down with him in it? (you can see how much i like chavs ) 'FireKnife'

WhiteHawksan
well played I just dont' care that I play dress up and play with toy guns in the woods.
shmook
I knew that would come out, but I can't rationalise why I see someone on a BMX as different to an airsofter. To each his own, but I just think 'grow up' when I see an adult on one. Same with skateboards for me too. It wasn't meant to be a personal shot at you scorch, although I can see it may have come across that way now.
WhiteHawksan
And I skateboard So I'm like double childish woohoo! I can't understand how people are happy to lay in 'til the afternoon, to me it's the epitome of lazy and wasted time, but to each their own.
Habakure
I enjoyed watching the bmx games/trials? I watched some poor woman (number 32 america), crash out live. Didn't arf look painful.
mimesis
Just watched five Russian girls with red balls prance around to ballet music. This is a sport????
Triggerhappychappy
All the stuff they used to do in the old days.... 'FireKnife' Duelling ( with wax bullets ), cannon shooting & tug of war used to be events at the start of the modern olympics; I'd like to see those brought back for sure- especially... well, all of them
my_plague_666
Then have explosive foamy red diarrhoea for a day or so and massive stimulant come down. i remember drinking about 5 bottles of this bright blue 'cider' stuff one night, taking a dump the next morning and noticing that it was a vivid green... can't be good for you. FireKnife
Duelling ( with wax bullets ), cannon shooting & tug of war used to be events at the start of the modern olympics; I'd like to see those brought back for sure- especially... well, all of them I meant the Greek Olympics. back in the day. The first modern ones had painting, cooking and basket making as events so that would be so boring, yet still better than BMX, beach volleyball and rhythmic gymnastics. Actually i bet if it wasn't for the gymnastics and the other prancing stuff the USA would probably be further ahead than behind China. Says the guy who plays with toy guns. You know on here that is like saying 'says the guy that has a penis' right? 'FireKnife'
scorch
You know on here that is like saying 'says the guy that has a penis' right? I know, merely pointing out that you can't go calling something childish when your own hobby is pretty childish too. People in glass houses and all. I'm glad the Olympics is evolving. Like it or not, the likes of BMX and probably skateboarding at some point will be in the future Olympics. I mean, if there are certain moves that can be executed in diving, gymnastics and dressage and be scored on for their difficulty and execution, why not BMX and skateboarding? They also have set moves. They're certainly a lot more accessible than bloody dressage. The point of the Olympics is that it wasn't the privileged few who got to compete, so why not have events that more people have a chance at competing in?
Cannonfodder80
five Russian girls with red balls Do they live near a soviet era nuclear power station? Also the girl who won the gold in dressage wasn't born with a silver spoon up her *albartroth* Anyway my Olympic based moan is about the job jockey I work with who thinks that watching a sport for 10 minutes automatically makes you an expert in said sport. A prime example is the way he started claiming one of the BMX races should be restarted after a crash
FireKnife
Ah those 'experts' like the bloke that screams out 'tactics' at a football game. Should take the Lee Evans example. The game is stopped, said guy pointed out by the coach, beckoned down and told to take charge at which point the bloke looks down at the floor and mutters sheepishly 'i thought he could have gone round him'. And don't worry Scorch it was more me just having my usual laugh at comments that i find odd, though really we all have childish hobbies 'FireKnife'
shmook
Again, it was nothing personal. I just don't see the appeal of riding a BMX as an adult, yet play with toy guns. I don't go around to riders and tell them it's silly, but it's what I think. But I think the same for dressage, some gymnastics and a million other things too. But, just because they don't appeal to me means they shoul be removed from the Olympics. I'm an avid shooter, and even the double trap final bored the *suitcase* out of me. I appreciate the skill, but it's so specialised as to not be relevant outside a competition, and I think that's what I don't see the point of. To become the absolute best at something which has no place outside of that event. Even airsoft has taken a back seat for me now, think I've been to 1 game in the last 12 months. I'm not saying I'm too good for it/maturing/it's for kids etc, it's not, and I love it. The thing is that priorities are changing for me, and something has to give. Maybe my rant today is that I may have to give up airsoft? Who knows. I've gone of at a tangent here, with dis-jointed ramblings, and I'm not even drunk yet...!
WhiteHawksan
you might HAVE to, but you can't, it's in your blood. No matter how hard you try, it'll be there, wouldn't that make a good ambush point, I could hit that from here, and then before you know it, your garage is full of guns again
FireKnife
Yeah i tried to give up ages ago, around pistol number 15. We all know how that turned out, even with the *suitcase* hand i have been dealt up here i still do my best to go or even (as i am still looking into) setting up a local range or site. shmook
Well, it's not so much 'have' to, but the time and money is better spent elsewhere at the moment. I've just bought a house that needs renovating. I am loathe to spend money on builders when I have the skills to do a lot of it myself, so that is weekends and evenings gone, probably for a couple of years. If I'm not 'softing for a couple of years, no point in having guns lying around. Wasted money I can spend on my house. Sell guns and kit to invest in my future. I'm getting married. More cash needed. Mrs wants kids. More cash and time needed. Airsoft is going to take the hit I think. I would rather shoot real guns in my spare time, yet I've just sold my shotty as I won't have the time to use it either. As of now, Airsoft<shooting<house/family. It sounds like I'm complaining, I'm not. I'm finally doing what I have wanted to do for a long time (marry and build a house how I want it), and just don't have time for hobbies too. Tempted to keep the VSR as I've just got it upgraded and how I want it, but that's still a few hundred quids worth of gun and ancillary kit that is better elsewhere. I'll see. Who knows, I may win the euro millions tonight!
FireKnife
True you might. However i would never sell every gun, i would always keep the one, that one that just works and i like (at the moment my Series 70 is the top of that list). 'FireKnife'
Habakure
Keeping one gun, might be the constant temptation to start up the collection again. I know, that if I kept one rifle, I'd end up buying more (I want to stick to smg's and pistols for airsoft, from now on. So the last rifle has to go). Which is why I want to get a grease gun for my vietnam loadout, or I might cop-out and buy another G&P car15 (its small, could be mistaken for an smg).
FireKnife
All i know is i want a LaFrance M16K But anyway, even with one i would still have something but i would resist the collecting urge, as hard as i can, which wont be long. You can't not be an airsoft and yet not feel the urge to buy more. 'FireKnife'
Jibbity
Currently annoyed with some people's tendencies to use internet forums (not reffering to this one ) for intense personal ego stroking. Given its prevalence, perhaps I am just annoyed with human nature.
