Tinkerton
I like proper cold coffee - cold brew. It's easy to make, too. get a bottle (or large jug or whatever), roughly 1 litre or bigger. Get one of them 225g~ bags of ground coffee, put the ENTIRE BAG into the jug / bottle, fill with water, give it a good stir. leave it 24 hours, then filter it (i use the basked from one of them cheapo percolator things with some decent paper filters in). The resulting nectar is fan-flipping-tastic. It's like coffee concentrate, but better. there's none of the really bitter acidic bits of 'normal' coffee and its WICKEDLY strong, so you can just dilute with hot / cold water or whatever to taste. Also i dont understand how people can spend so much at starbucks. If you want coffee, they do drip coffee (sometimes not on the price boards) and its about £1.70 for a large. which is plenty big enough. anything else than that and you're gonna pay because its espresso based and so its a lot more coffee/time/effort per drink. I think so places even do pour-overs now, which is apparently one of the greatest cups of coffee you can get...

Well someone has to pay the taxes on behalf of them right . Either way it just doesn't do anything for me. Same as people that can down energy drinks, to me they taste meh and do nothing. Quick, consistent, and the hottie behind the till had a nice smile . I completely agree it's pretty extortionate... But then I find most things are these days (remember when this was all fields etc), and the Staff know me well enough to get my drink on the go as soon as I walk in - that alone saves me a hell of a lot of time, considering it's in Central London, and usually rammed with customers. I'm not a coffee snob though... I once found this cheap *albatross* instant stuff, that tasted just like the old Camp (I say old... You may still be able to get it), which was yum! Tinkerton
I deliberately avoid espresso based drinks (and espresso itself) because I have a very weak will on things like this and can see it being a slippery slope to the start of a journey to discover coffee nirvana and spend my days talking about grind sizes and water temperatures and shot sizes and time between grinding and brewing and how hard to tamp the grinds and and and... I think it's time Arnies had a coffeeee thread....

Baddbaz
I think it's time Arnies had a coffeeee thread.... Sounds like it will be full of overtired , stressed out and strung out caffeine addicts ! A Bit like zero 1 on a good day ... Lol
scorch
I just caught myself commenting on lost productivity due to our trained workshop guy being used for other jobs that a warehouse muppet should have been used for. What's happening to me?

Habakure
I thought FK would have commented in here today? My rant:- (very small rant) silicone oil still hasn't arrived. Please be here before Saturday, so I can give the vector a nice rub!

Please be here before Saturday, so I can give the vector a nice rub! I would have but to be honest it makes no difference, Royal Mail are full of *suitcase* and hire a large number of people that are too stupid to do anything else. Of all the posties and postal employees I have had to deal only about one in four are nice, the rest are arrogant or couldn't care less. Also my item is still 'progressing' so that to me means lost or stalling for time. 'FireKnife'

I would say the figures are more 1 in 30 people . That's if you can find someone intelligent and not full if *suitcase* that speaks English in the first place ! How they survive in today's marketplace defeats any rules you could apply !! I would put more faith in a one winged carrier pigeon than Royal Mail / parcel force nowadays . FireKnife
Still it is close to the deadline for day two. We get all our mail, SD stuff and all delivered to the main gate in one go with them signing for the lot in the morning. If it does not turn up today this will be taken a lot further as no information has been given via the available tracking systems and this would have been two days. They are already going to get a complaint filed for being late, but how late depends how far it is taken by me. 'FireKnife'
Wild_XIII
Today, I start looking for new jobs. The workload is steadily increasing for the engineers, so what does my company do? HIRE ALL THE MANAGERS! Yup, my company is so *fruitcage* stupid that they see the problem we're facing, and spend all the money that could be used for engineers to hire more people that will not get the work done. Not only that, but the ginger fuhrer is getting worse, even with everyone in our team telling him he's a cretin, he carries on. I know I'm not the only one who's looking for a new job so once we leave, the company is going to have a very hard time.
FireKnife
Right just got off the phone to the full blown *fruitcage*-tards that is Royal Mail complaints team. They have basically told me they have no idea where my item is and why it has not been delivered, nothing. It is not being held, it is not sat waiting somewhere that they know of the stupid *Ubarflock* have just lost it by the sounds of it. Why do we put up with this *suitcase*, really, day in day out nothing but complaints against the service they provide. If this was just typical Recorded and it was a day late I would not mind but for it to be two days late and then to get 'sorry we have no information about where your item is' for a Special Delivery, I am not suprised I haven't launched something out of a window (and given the number of spare or broken monitors we have laying about I could with little issue). EDIT: Though props to Mike at ESC who is going through it with them and me to ensure that I get my item and is even sending a replacement then will refund me postage to send back the other one if Royal Dip-*suitcase*-s ever deliver this one. Habakure
I would have suggested another courier, once bitten twice shy and all that. Unless the only option is Royal Mail?
FireKnife
Because of the way it works at my work RM sending means I get it in my hands. Courier means anyone else can get it in my building and I would rather avoid that when it comes to RIFs. But alas hopefully all will be sorted and I will have my item soon. RM still have it as 'progressing through the network'. Can't they just be honest and say 'we are *fruitcage*-ing stupid and lost your item'? 'FireKnife'
Gunmane
Then they would have to admit to being incompetent, and they can't have that can they? Sigh, back to MSU I go.
Wild_XIII
Just so you know FK, A "guaranteed" 24 hour parcel I'm expecting was sent on Tuesday. It's still in progress now. They are being even more *suitcase* than usual right now.
shmook
Oils pressure warning light on my car... It's a passat 1.8t, so it could be the dreaded sludge. However, I don't have access to another vehicle, and my wife is now 7 days overdue, so could need the car at any time, meaning I can't drop the sump and have a poke around, and I'll be *fruitcage*ed if I'm going to throw £600 I don't have at a garage to do it. hitmanNo2
My mum's E93 just had an engine fault light go off. Off to BMW. £900 repair. Thank *fruitcage* for the warranty.
Baddbaz
Get a garage to put some flushing oil through it and then a filter and oil change . Could just be the sender unit / connection playing up
shmook
That's what I'm hoping, although reading around, flushing can free up a load of and make matters worse unless it's been flushed regularly in the past, which I don't think it has.
Tinkerton
having worked in the trade for the last 7 years, personally i think oil (and to a certain extent, coolant) flushes are snake oil. Maybe they were useful in old cars (by old, i mean classics, with points and plugs and carbs and dyno's instead of alternators) back in the day, but in modern cars with synthetic oils there's hardly any actual deposits to leave from the oil itself.
shmook
That's why I'm reluctant to try a flush as its not really an oil deposit as such. Apparently, the turbo is so hot, combined with a lower volume of oil thanks to the design of the engine bakes the oil into carbon lumps which can block the scavenger pipe in the sump. I really need to take the sump off and poke at things with screwdrivers and hammers, which means the bloody thing will be up on stands for at least a weekend if I have to order a new pipe, which I probably will anyway for peace of mind as opposed to cleaning the old one But not this weekend, the wife's waters broke this lunchtime!
Baddbaz
Built in obsolescence . . The turbo oil feed pipes on most cars are always to narrow and prone to sediment snd carbon blockage that eventually starves the Turbo of oil and causes bearing failures . . When you get a chance get to a tuning / upgrade company or turbo specialist and buy a larger diameter flexible hose type if possible for your car . . If not flexi type upgrade most tuning company's do larger bore upgrades that solve this problem .
