scorch
Understandable. The trip wire will be on a pulley anyway, so the mine itself will be nowhere near where the line crosses the garden. If I really wanted to take it to the extreme, I'd pack a foot length of 3/4" BSP pipe with pig excrement, and set the blank into the bottom of it with the whole arrangement pointed at the gate. A shitgun? Yesterday I had a mental breakdown at work. Well, if you're blamed by your boss for something that wasn't your fault because said boss wanted to call a meeting about it two weeks prior but conveniently forgot, that's what happens. It's apparently fully justified. I excused myself to the bathroom and let out a "*FRUITCAGE*!!!" loud enough that apparently everyone in a three block radius heard.
scorch
A shitgun? Exactly that. We did it on the farm I used to live on as they kept getting robbed by gypsies. It's amazing how getting covered in hot *suitcase* deters one from trespass.
paranoiddroid
That's horrible but genius. We have in the house a wooden prop claymore that we are lashing a trip mine with a .209 primer adaptor on for games soon. I want a spring open claymore to mod.using the same setup and then I can have it with remote detonation rather than the wire.
Habakure
Why aren't you doing something for valentines day? I always get asked this. Well, I would be doing something for valentines but my order of tan humoral spray paint hasn't arrived. Buggering nuts bag. First world problem. Other half doesn't mind as she's off on a hen do tomorrow (complete with wig and novelty glasses), because of that I'm minding the two little ones. Emotional black mail should be taught at school (maybe it already is; religious education).
Tinkerton
I must not rust. Rust is the car killer. Rust is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my Rust. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past, I will turn the inner eye to see it's path. Where the Rust has gone there will be nothing... Only steel will remain. Tinkerton
You read the littany against fear at a wedding? ... Did they ask you to, or did you just need to do it for yourself?
amateurstuntman
My best mate Andy had a fear of marriage (literally) and was with his now-wife for 14 years before he got a handle on it and they got married. His brother was the best man but he involved me by getting to do a reading. The Litany helped him cope with his fear of marriage and was strongly meaningful to him. He had an instrumental tune from the original Transformers animated movie as his music and many other sci-fi additions to the service. Spent 10k on fireworks too I think. My family and I gave him a Darth Vader money box with £175 in coins in it. It was hilarious, he saw it on the gift table from all of us, thought it was empty, thought we were a bunch of tight bastards and then nearly herniated himself picking it up. So much win. I am overly confident in general, have done (open mic) stand up and am a teacher, when one of my mates has a public speaking job I am the go-to guy.
Tinkerton
Haha, awesome! I love the littany. I knew of it long before I read the book, and eventually figured out the books gotta be pretty good. I wasn't wrong.

shmook
I hate cars. Focus won't rev past 2750, no turbo kicking in. I'm hoping it's the pressure sensor that's gone. There's an awful amount of oil in the intercooler pipes though, but I think that may be from a previous turbo going on it... I hate cars and always seem to buy a dog. Baddbaz
Is it a turbo deisel focus ??
shmook
It is indeed... 2.0 tdci, 06 reg. Ripped the egr off and soaked it in super special cleaner (petrol) for half an hour, and got full revs and boost back. Threw a new fault code up though, 0238 - turbocharger boost sensor, along with the 2566 boost sensor circuit intermittent. Emission light comes on randomly, more on than off at the moment. Next step is DPF filter/fluid. MAF sensor looks brand new. There's a split pipe at the front (not split damaged, splits in two) with a couple of sensors in that were caked with oil and , so they may be the culprits. Not examined the turbo, as it's now working...
Hardcore1-6
IT Hardware. Printers. How much can I hate a printer?Deploy slightly dense Cpl, think Lennie in Of Mice and Men, and the printer is destroyed.IT issue is still outstanding (no printed work) but the problem has gone. (printer confirmed killed.)

Stuey
Printers are the one area of IT and technology that as far as I can tell haven't advanced at all. They're still just as infuriating and illogical were in the 90s. Anyone tried to install an HP printer? It takes *fruitcage* ages and tries install all this useless bloatware. Ugh. scorch
And the ink is *fruitcage* expensive.
hitmanNo2
Laser printers FTW. I don't buy the official HP toner but get new third party cartridges for under a tenner. They go for reams and reams.
Baddbaz
Shmook , I recently had this issue with my car . A 1.6 tdci . After taking it to a mate who is a ford diesel specialist I got the lowdown on what causes so many issues with the ford tdci units . Basically most of his turbo repairs are caused by lazy mechanics not realizing what cAuses the failure in the first place .and if the turbo is replaced it will continue to fail over and over again Unless remedial work / cleaning / replacement pipes are used . The injectors on these cars specificaly no1 are prone to seal failure , which then pump unburnt fuel and carbon through the cylinder head , breathers and turbo ) these eventually ( fairly quickly clog up ) causing premature turbo failure , it also causes the egr valve problem as well . If the pipes . Breathers etc , sump etc are not stripped down and cleaned / replaced the turbo and egr valve will very quickly fail after replacment . Also a replacement / modified egr valve vortex part is available if the car is taken to the main dealers , but ford refuse to admit the modification or admit to the fault / bad design , Injector seals are a cheap part to change , but can be a pig to get out if the injecter seal has carboned up around the injector . Peugeot use the same engine design and it is a recall repair for peugeot owners , but *bramston pickle* ford won't do it ,,,watchdog calls imminent from a lot of angry tdci owners is going to be on the cards methinx
Hardcore1-6
It bloody annoys me no end when a computer will not talk to a printer... It would send the document, sitting there in the print queue and then the printer would spit out a blank page. Stupid clerk ordered pre-perforated paper. She did the 'Oh I don't know about printers, tehehehe' thing. Very infuriating.
Habakure
It's a peugeot engine not a ford design. Same as their C-Class.
