My eye! Sweet Jesus, Ouch!

I won't ever go to a hospital, our roads are ######, it took our town 49 years to fix one railroad crossing.

10 years that I know of to put up a speed limit sign on my road.

The police station was given a *fruitcage* load of money to renovate the jail so that they can house inmates, nope they just keep sending them to another county.

They are squandering our taxes when things need fixed 30+ years ago.

Also the us government did just fine not taxing the people for 100 years, then they brought in the emergency taxes bs then kept going with it.

Now we send millions of millions to other countries that need it other than us.

No wonder our land is in the *suitcase* hole because we are wasting taxes.

Then they come up with a grand scheme to get it back and call it mandatory.

"This morning I was awoken by my alarm clock powered by electricity generated by the public power monopoly regulated by the US department of energy. I then took a shower in the clean water provided by the municipal water utility. After that, I turned on the TV to one of the FCC regulated channels to see what the national weather service of the national oceanographic and atmospheric administration determined the weather was going to be like using satellites designed, built, and launched by the national aeronautics and space administration. I watched this while eating my breakfast of US department of agriculture inspected food and taking the drugs which have been determined as safe by the food and drug administration.

At the appropriate time as regulated by the US congress and kept accurate by the national institute of standards and technology and the US naval observatory, I get into my national highway traffic safety administration approved automobile and set out to work on the roads build by the local, state, and federal departments of transportation, possibly stopping to purchase additional fuel of a quality level determined by the environmental protection agency, using legal tender issued by the federal reserve bank. On the way out the door I deposit any mail I have to be sent out via the US postal service and drop the kids off at the public school.

After spending another day not being maimed or killed at work thanks to the workplace regulations imposed by the department of labor and the occupational safety and health administration, enjoying another two meals which again do not kill me because of the USDA, I drive my NHTSA car back home on the DOT roads, to my house which has not burned down in my absence because of the state and local building codes and fire marshal’s inspection, and which has not been plundered of all it’s valuables thanks to the local police department.

I then log on to the internet which was developed by the defense advanced research projects administration and post on freerepublic.com and fox news forums about how SOCIALISM in medicine is BAD because the government can’t do anything right."

Why do we need to help them when our country is in shambles?

That money each year would fix schools, roads, communications, and out everyone that's homeless in a home.

How about it go to our national debt? Oh wait, never mind.

We need to worry about our own country before others.

edit:

Whilst we are remembering our fallen soiliders, over in America they are busy thanking vets!! What's that all about??? Don't get me wrong - nothing against vets, one got me out of some serious trouble by putting my exgf's cat down on the sly sly... say no more!!!  :fear2:

A few decades ago, cars would pull over at 11.

This year, I've seen fewer people wearing poppies than I recall ever before.

Not enough people have respect any more.

Not sure where you have seen less, but where I am I have seen loads. Have seen less squadies selling poppies the past few years though (train stations etc). Which might be down to a few factors.

People *fruitcage* walking into the pub loudly during the two minutes silence, happens every year without fail.

We teach the army to operate plant.

Today at 1101hrs, half way into our silence (a parade attended by all our trainees and staff) 5 employees of the company we use to support training delivered a dump truck a dozer and an excavator to the yard.

Two of those are perhaps the noisiest machines we have.

Steel tracks being driven across a concrete yard by some of the most wilfully ignorant imbeciles I have ever encountered.

You can't get the worthless bastards to do their job under most circumstances but here we are, the only two minutes in the year we actually want them to slack off and they won't shut up.

The worst part is that you can't even yell at them - since that would break the silence even more.

Could be worse though - at the service in Swadlincote, where my ACF detachment is, a taxi hit a woman attending, leading to ambulances attending and the woman being taken to hospital.

Now that is going to really ruin the event...

People.

My gripe today is my feet. Turns out my steelies have a hole in the bottom. Found out when trying to navigate my flooded work cellar (sump pump failure that is taking ages to sort because I thought a different company could respond faster, cue arguing costs) and my ice cream tub boats flipped. Water was about six inches deep down there as we had a water main pipe burst down there yesterday as well.

So feet have been soaking for 8 or so hours. About to throw a load of talc on and pray.

When I worked behind a bar last, they tried to make me wear formal shoes as workwear, despite my footwear not being visible to customers.

I promptly told them where to stick that idea since formal shoes are for doing 12 hour shifts on your feet and running up and down stairs to the cellar.

Plain black converse for me. Much better.

You'd think in this H&S gone mad climate, they'd have to provide you with the proper foot ware if you're lugging kegs about.

Must be considered non essential. There's loads of other PPE in the puns for various jobs. I guess supplying thousands of different sizes of safety footwear must be rather costly so money saving (ironically from a company that requires employees to book their own accommodation for residential management courses then reimburses the staff, why don't they strike a deal with travellodge/premier Inn etc where we say we out through X people per year).

Having dropped the edge of a keg on my toe before though I'd rather pay for some steelies. With my dodgy ankle I'm always wearing boots anyway (one set of dress shoes for anything I can't get around)and I can get away with safety boots as a FoH member of the team.

As far as I'm aware we also don't have qualified first aiders on site. I've considered getting qualified just for general preparedness and enquired about it at work and apparently nope.
