My eye! Sweet Jesus, Ouch!

It's funny how, when you want to give something away, the person you want to give it to, they ask what's wrong with it. It's free and it works, what more do you want (money)?

This.

I must admit I got a free laptop from my old work. The left hinge was a bit damaged and the hard drive was shot. A new cheapo HDD later and it was working no issues but I got asked why I don't just replace it now and be done with it.

Well the simple answer is because it still works, still lets me play old games, watch and download films and view porn so why bother to replace it? Sure after it messed up on me (lagging my RE4!!!!) I did see it losing a small chunk of plastic but it is still going strong. I am sure if I tried to give it away the next person would moan about it.

People watching a live tennis match, looking at their smartphones. Why bother going if you're not going to watch the tennis? It's like going the cinema to watch a movie, but you play a game on your phone instead of watching the movie.

Having sat in at least three films in the last two years with someone next to me or just a few seats down doing this I must agree that I don't see why. Even if you are not that impressed by the film, you or someone else has paid for it so just sit back and watch it. I got given a free pair of tickets and the only film on at the time was Lincoln. Now I wasn't that fussed about seeing it but I went so the tickets weren't wasted and I watched the whole thing as that is what I as there to do.

Either watch it or leave.

Quietly in either case.

I've only left the cinema halfway through a film once in my life.

"The Invention of Lying"

Utter toss.

I went to the cinema with my friend, it was dead, us ans 2 other guys there alone. I said something to him just before the movie had started and this guy turned round and basically shouted "stop talking". He then proceeded to spend the entire movie on his phone, a bright light in the corner of my eye. He wasnt just texting he would get phone calls answer start saying "hello, hello" and run out then come back, did it 6 or 7 times.

Next time i went to the cinema surprise , surprise he was a *fruitcage* employee.

Tired in pain can't afford the treatment that helps the nhs won't pay for it. I pay for my meds because they are apparantly elective. I'm not fit to work but being pressured to apply and spend money I don't really have on getting to interviews which means I can't afford treatments that help. They haven't got back to me on my income related claim which I will fail because even though I pay rent because it's to family it won't count.

BF3 is free on Origin at the moment, so I downloaded it last night (all 20 GB of it). I forgot that the new BFs use this godawful brower-based Battlelog *suitcase* to launch the games - the damn thing just straight-up doesn't work on my computer. So frustrating.

Students have finished uni for another year. It's been a terrible couple of days workwise. Partially from not having the right number of staff yesterday and today (because they term dates and exam dates change all the time).

It frustrates me just how rude some of them are, and bloody snobby. The looks they give you when you try to clear their tables for them, and the fact most of them stop talking completely.

Then you get the ones who think they're incredibly clever bringing in Sainsbury's own Cava, pretty sure we're not Sainsbury's. But when you take it off them "It was open before we came in, we're not drinking it here honest" or clearing an empty bottle "We finished it outside" and just brought it in as tabletop decoration? Admittedly its not just students who do this, however they don't even have the common decency to try and be subtle and throw tantrums when its taken away (normally we'll even let them have it back when they leave unless they're impolite sods).

People trying to buy drinks for each other, and asking for everyone to be present to check all their IDs, only for some to be lazy or not have ID and suddenly all the drinks are just for the people present, despite them saying they would get their friend. And people pretending a drink is theirs, moving it over to them when you pass when you know it isn't.

Worst though? On at least two separate occasions someone went to the gents, into a cubicle and released their bowels on the floor. Why? What possesses people? And from having to clear them up I'm adamant its not some sort of practical joke poo...it was very real.

Wow, you'd think I hate my job. I don't, I just hate complete utter twits, especially when they act like they're better than you because they're going to uni. Guess what chum? I've got a damn degree to, and I'd like to wager I'm more intelligent, at least more life smart than yourself.

Don't worry, in a year or two they'll have to find themselves a *suitcasey* waiting job too.

Also, I had a nasty case of food poisoning yesterday (and I had to race home in order to avoid my pants), nightmares (including the inability to aim a firearm) at night, *suitcasey* morning and announced difficulties with the city transit today and tomorrow. Thanks, Obama.

Thanks, Obama.

Why are you blaming Obama :P.

As for me it is trying to find a place that has the 'Custom' (read +2 baseplate style) Marui Glock mags in stock. Most either have them at silly prices or just flat out of stock.

I only really need three but just can't seem to find many around.

Just experienced first hand how politics and 'who you know' aids someone in a job application.

Rather off.

So, it has taken me 4 days to calm down to the extent that I can post this.

On Saturday I was so angry my resting heart rate was up 30 bpm.

On Friday I posted that I was extremely happy to be one of the first people in the UK to get the 2015 model of Sram's S-700 10 speed hydraulic road disc brakes.

I was.

I ordered them from probikekit (hereto forth known as those *Ubarflock*) at 0920hrs for next day delivery and recieved an e-mail confirmation.

Happily I went home and stripped all the brakes and gears off my bike.

On Saturday I got up around 10 expecting my parcel to arrive and to spend a pleasurable afternoon fitting bleeding edge technology to my bike.

I checked my e-mail and found that I had a despatch notice from the previous afternoon, I looked at it 4 or 5 times before I realised what my gut was telling me, something is wrong.

My order had been despatched but not the brakes.  £250 worth of parts to go with the brakes: disks, adapters, bleeding kit, new Yaw front mech, bar tape, cable outers and inners, and others had been posted but not the brakes.

I immediately called those *Ubarflock* and asked what was going on, next day delivery means next bloody day, the cut off is 1400hrs, is 4.5 hours not enough?

I was given some vague nonsense and excuses so I just said: "Get them to me by Monday OK?".

Sorry sir, they are out of stock, they'll be back in in August.

"They weren't out of stock when I paid you bloody nearly £550 for the damned things!" said I.

After a lot of mumbling it seems that since I am a new customer they did some kind of verification process which took 6 hours and by that time someone else had bought them.

How can that happen?  I PAID FOR THEM.  WITH PAYPAL!

So I demand a refund and hang up.

Moments later I get an e-mail saying I can't have a refund because my purchase is still being processed at the warehouse.

So I ring back.  Those *Ubarflock* tell me that there is a chance a set was put aside and that they are packaging them up now, he will call the warehouse and find out then call me back.

He does not call me back, I call him back and those *Ubarflock* have closed for the day.

Monday morning I call back and get the same *badger*s, I get two more "refusal to cancel order" e-mails before they finally return my money.

Now I look for another set, everywhere is advertising as preorder, units expected in August except one company (£80 more expensive).

They are totalcycling.com.  I call them up and ask them to physically confirm that there is a set in stock, take them off the shelf and sit on them until my order comes through, I have money and they are in my basket right now.

The lady puts me on hold and comes back 4 minutes later to tell me that they are not in stock but she can get me an ETA, I give her my number.

She calls me at 1630 to tell me that she is going home and still hasn't heard from the supplier.

She called me this morning to tell me they will be in in August.

They are still now on their website as "in stock".

I am furious.

I will be waiting for wiggle to get them in and buying them with my platinum discount, in August.  I'll put them on lay away and spend my brake money on airsoft, probably on a polarstar gearbox.

Forgive me but:

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!

Stunt, that *fruitcage*s me off too when companies do stuff like that. Had it numerous times...

Hab, I'm waiting for feedback, should be this week. Depending on that I may appeal. If I don't/can't, then it's a loooooongg waiting game until the next opportunity...

Shouldn't complain really, I have a job I like, but really wanted this one. It's a complete career change, but I was mentally geared up for that and it's been on my mind for a while now, ready for it. I don't want to sound arrogant, but I think I'm a decent candidate.

As I said, I think politics and 'the old boys club' came in to play. I can't really go further than that without several pages of reasoning which may come across as a bit of a diatribe!

Live and learn, and play the system better next time ;)

Shmook, I would say decent is the bare minimal required for any given job. Definitely not arrogance in my book (it's under the section Not ignorant, and yes I have a book called The Philosophy of I).

Sorry to hear that stunt. I too like being prepared and setting aside the tools/parts/time needed for a new project/build. Reminds me when I had to explain that 10% is 10% and not 15% (long story short; let's say a house costs £100,00 they pay half the deposit for you, leaving £100,000. Huh said I? 'You pay £10,000 deposit, we pay the remianing £5,000'. I point out that's a deposit of £15,0000. They come back with 'No no no no, we pay half the deposit you pay the rest'. The rest is £10,000? 'Yes'. Wtf?!?. And on and on, it went till I drew a diagram).

What usually happens to me is that I get told something should be at X location, only to find that the person in charge of putting those items there will not be doing so till the last minute.

Grand example:  Go to the specific bookstore listed for a class, just to get a coursepack, find out I'll have to come back in 3 weeks.

As for jobs, yep, all about the networking.  Since I have no capacity to formulate such assets, I accepted nearly two decades ago that I would never succeed against said system.  Seen it affect everyone around me, generally with results that if I talk about them will just make people sad.  Attempts to fight the "old boys club" end up either working against you, remain completely ineffective, or end up doing squat by the time part of such group finally throws another part under the bus to save itself.

I still say you give'em hell Shmook.

Am I right in saying this is police related?

If so it may be wise to learn this:
