Talking of bikes and protection.  Saw a pleb riding on the road with no helmet.  No big deal you say? There are lots of *tortilla chip* cyclists out there sure.  Well this guy had two small children sitting in some giant basket thing up front, also, no helmets.  The mind boggles at peoples stupidity.

I drove past a cyclist on an unlit stretch of fast road last week. Didn't have lights, reflectors, nor hi-viz clothing. I wouldn't have minded that much, but they were in the road rather than the cycle track next to the road on thier mountain bike.

Saw a traffic cops/generic police thingy with a cyclist like that.

Dual carriageway, no lights and dark clothing. Cops thought they had sussed what had gone on as they had bits of a new mini from the impact that killed said cyclist.

They pitched up to an address that called in that a scared female driver had hit 'something'. Thought it was a deer. Her car was all *fruitcage*ed up.

Further investigation put her at the scene, a long sweeping left hand bend, and laid all blame on the cyclist. No lights, dark clothes, dual carriageway, and her headlights wouldn't have picked him up.

Did she get off scot free? No. Someone else's incompetence/lapse of judgement means that she is carrying that death for life. No charges though.

People have work parties?

What is this madness? In the four years I've worked here we've had one (frustratingly when I had left the company for a couple of months to sort my head out).

I think its partially because we don't trust the other local pubs to staff our place given how far from the norm it is.

Apparently my graduation's guest speaker is George Will, which has sparked protests.

Can I just go to the afternoon session that has Michael Moore instead?  Sure, I also cannot stand him, but at least it would more engaging to hear at the least, whether than to sit as people turn around the moment George Will opens his mouth.

My university's higher ups are complete twats at decision making.

A company I contract for had their work do last night - One of the legal team came in and reported on what happened - He gambled away £800 in a casino, headed over to a strip bar, and in the taxi home he forgot which hotel he was booked into - so he just booked himself into another...

Then we noticed the meeting room for the company wasn't booked all day, so he just lay down on the couch and slept for the rest of the day. Amazing.

Edit: Cheeky mid-day pint too.

Tuesday *fruitcage* sucked. Was running late so rushed downstairs and slipped... fell down the stairs in a tangle of limbs and pain and misery. Leave the front door and setup my wheelchair since this weather is hell on my back and knees (Have it folded so it fits in the house) boom I slip on black ice and smash my back on the footplates then the drive as well as hitting my head.

So *fruitcage* black ice. I just crawled back in the house and went to bed.

Grandfather was hospitalised on Wednesday. We only found out today as my dad and stepmum have been out of the country.

He was feeling unwell so had a kip for a couple of hours, woke up and blacked out when he went to go to the toilet.

Consultant will be in tomorrow to review his tests but it was heartbreaking seeing him connected to three drips and in a bad way. I know his health isn't great as his heart and kidneys are shot but its different seeing it.

How's this for some mind boggling car insurance madness.

Someone crashed into someone I know.  Immediately refused to take responsibility, saying he was the victim that was crashed into despite all the dents, scrapes e.t.c. being on the opposite of the car so his story obviously .  Voice recording of him at the scene sent to the insurance company.  Open and shut you would think.  Nope.  This has been ongoing for many months and now he's saying he was never actually there in the first place.  The insurance company want to make a 50/50 claim...They must be employing utter cretins.

Nope . It is just the no work easy option for them . Had the same earlier this year . As soon as I threatened the other drivers company with a private court case and showed the insurance company my video footage they back peddled as fast as they could .

Lazy money grabbers !!

Insurance company staff are *Ubarflock*. Every single one of them.

Thieving shyster *Ubarflock*.

Got my car broken into in the summer. Called them and was basically told to *fruitcage* off. I lost a few hundred quids worth of kit, and the final insult was I had to pay for the window too.

The whole thing needs a massive shake up. Also, charging thousands for new drivers on a *suitcasey* little 1 litre car?

Thieves.

I know what you mean, the cost is what's kept me from learning (both the price of lessons and the car, insurance etc). When I was at uni I looked into getting a little 1 litre Fiesta to learn in. The AA wanted over £900 for 3rd party only and the real kicker was that they wouldn't take a monthly direct debit. Yeah because the average student can pull almost a grand out of their *albartroth*

Get a motorcycle.

Pros:

My insurance is £66 for the year. (TPFT, 10k miles, SDPC)

I rarely get stuck in traffic jams.

I park for free when I'm out and about, and never struggle for a space.

Chicks dig bikes.

Bike clothing is incredibly zombie resistant.

You're never designated driver.

Cons:

Terrorism has put an end to lockers in public places, so you have to carry your helmet about.

Sometimes, it rains.

Some of the 3 wheeler motorcycles now have roofs , heaters and performance that leaves most super cars for dust . A lot can be ridden on a Cbt / learner / car licence as well !

I also run a bike and a moped for london commutes and it is a no brainer when it comes down to insurance and running costs . ,

A lot of people do not realise that if you passed your car driving test before 2001 you can ride a moped with no L plates and carry passengers as well
