That could well be mattmanic, I do hope it is not, as the motor has only been used all of three times and maybe fired 100 rounds! Though anything is possible. I think I might just give up and save up for an ICS SA80A2.

But there is a big part of me not wanting to throw the towel in. It will probably cost a lot less to get my R85 up an running than buying a new AEG. I'll open up the gear box tomorrow, look at the internals and hopefully it is something I've missed like the wiring (Fingers crossed, but I doubt it, as I am just hoping at this stage).

If my P90 fails, I might just cry tiny tears of pain. :(

Funny how my cheapest AEG has not failed me yet and has had more rounds through it (The Cyma Aks-74u).

I have exactly the same thoughts about my SRC gen 2 XM8. I only bought it because it was cheap, I was ordering anyway, and I liked the colour/shape combination. I never really intended to skirmish with it, it was more a display piece. But I took it to a game as a spare, needed it, used it, was impressed and since then it has always been my spare AEG, I've lent it to people who're coming along for the first time, and it's NEVER let me down in over four years, and is still doing more than 250 fps.

Makes me wonder why I bother buying CA, TM or other so-called good makes and then spending more on upgrades and servicing, when the cheapsoft clone which has never been upgraded or serviced has been 100% reliable...

Surely that's grounds for a lawsuit over excessive force and general idiocy?

Also just looked at the link, bloody hell.

Probably, but since his charges were quickly dropped, and there were no lasting injuries he was glad to have it over with. IIRC the whole thing began when someone called the private security patrol of the college housing where he was having a late night swim with two female residents. While he was getting dressed the rentacops persuaded him to stick around long enough for the real police to show up; who then arrested him for trespassing even though he was an invited guest.

The moral of the story is to remember that a private citizen (even if they have a shiny badge and funny hat) usually cannot detain you; leave quickly and don't give your name if confronted.

I didn't give enough details - the batteries are 3V 600mAh Uniross rechargeables, fully charged on a Uniross charger. When I put them in my light, it acts like they're dead - the bulb gives a tiny weak flash and then nothing.

A pair of 3.7V cells is enough to blow the bulb. Which is impossible to replace, it seems. <_<

5 options as to what could be wrong.

1: the batteries arent charged - duff batteries.

2: the batteries arent charged - duff charger.

3: the bulbs blown.

4: the torch is ######.

5: you've broken it.

TBH, just get a better torch, and a pair of AW 123a cells.

1. The same thing happens with all the rechargeable batteries I have tried. Standard Lithium non-rechargeables seem to work fine, though.

2. This is the third charger I have tried, with the same result.

3. If the bulb was blown, there wouldn't be a momentary glow. Also, the bulb is okay with non-rechargeable batteries.

4. All the KA M3 taclights are the same. I don't think there is anything wrong with them. Apart from the slightly poor design with the non-replaceable bulbs, but that could be deliberate to sell replacement lights instead of replacement bulbs.

5. Broken what? How?

M3 taclights aren't cheap to come by, and most manufacturers don't even make the different colour styles that KA do. I have several in black and green (I'm not even sure how many of each I have, now) - to replace them all would be prohibitively expensive.

I am at a loss to understand what the issue is. Why aren't these rechargeable batteries performing as I'd expect? I don't expect them to last as long as the non-rechargeable ones, but I expect them to work nearly as well while they're freshly charged... <_<

Curious indeed..

If I make a few suggestions to try:-

1)check the voltage of the non-rechargeables and rechargeables, just to see if there is a ( large ) variation or not.

2)check the size/length of both types to make sure the rechargables arent shorter & not making proper contact inside the torch

3)I would say check the polarity incase they are opposite to what normal batts are ( A123 cells have the button-end of the cell as the negative... ), but you arent a grade-A noob so... ;)

Any chance you can change the inards of the torch around to use a different bulb and reflector gubbins? ( I dont know what this torch looks like so I may just be talking *badger*s )

my wisdom teeth.

one has come through at a rather weird angle and hasnt caused me any trouble for as long as it's been there. last week i go for a checkup with the dentist and get told that it shouldnt cause me any trouble at all.

now it's decided to bite into the gum below it, very uncomfortable :( thing is i dont really want to have it removed unless i really have to

I'll try to get hold of a multimeter and get back to you...

Thanks for saying I'm not a grade-A noob. :)

I hate getting my days mixed up. Thought I was going down to my mum's house to get my hair cut (one of my brother's mates does it for cheap, and he's pretty good too), so I got up nice and early at 8am (which is an ungodly hour for me), got on the bus, topped up my Oyster before I got my ticket, rang my mum at the same time...and was reminded it's not until Thursday.

I'm going back to bed.

I have a tale of woe for you.

I have sold my Skoda vRS and I was looking to replace it with something cheap and reliable for my wife and something fast and impractical for me.

I sorted the wife by getting her a Peugeot 106 1.5 XLD - 60mpg, cheap everything. Lovely, it's called "The Champ".

I then set about looking for a car for myself, I wanted something with tuning potential, that was fun to drive and would be a project.

The ultimate requirement was that it had engineering integrity.

I looked into getting an Evo, Escort MKII, Caterham/other type 7, Daihatsu Storia X4, Lancia Delta Integrale, Scooby and a lot of other stuff.

I have a mate selling a 260hp supercharged Integra Type-R too, drove that.

I had set my mind on an Evo 4, 5 or 6 RS, not GSR.

Then one day (while I was looking for an Evo) I realised that I had forgotten one of the greatest cars ever made.

The Honda S2000.

I found one that was an insurance write off, bodywork was good and it has a blown engine.

A piece of road debris punctured the radiator and all the coolant leaked out causing the engine to overheat and seize.

Agreed to pick it up and went down to Southampton to get it.

Car was all good, my mechanic and I gave it a quick inspection and the salvage guys put it on the flatbed with forks.

We came home, got stuck in traffic on the M25 for 6 hours, that's not my rant though since in the queue around us were the following cars:

Phaeton, DB6, V12 Vantage, Exige, R34 Skyline and several other notably awesome cars.

Got it back to my work, went to take it off the loader, the back brakes were seized on due the the handbrake being left on.

Tapped the brake discs with a brass drift and mallet to release them and the car settled on the winch.

As we started to winch it down the flatbed it started to bind again so I tied a bit of rope around the diff and gently pulled the car down the ramp as Mike operated the winch controls.

Then, disaster, the towing eye snapped clean off, the car rolled down the ramp (straight at me) and I was unable to hold it back.

I dived out of the way and it rolled right past me and hit a concrete post.

Yes that's right and folks, I crashed a car that I had for 6 hours that didn't even have a working engine.

Gah!

Looks like about 2 to 3 hundred pounds worth of damage.
