scorch
Nor would I. My point is: Why? How does speed of cortege have any bearing on respect for the dead? You can respect the dead or not either way. My personal opinion is that funerals are a vulgar waste of money. There are people in every country in the world including our own starving and empoverished, and millions of pounds are spent each year on ceremonies to put meat into a hole in the ground. That doesn't mean I don't respect the life and acheivements of the deceased, but when they're dead, they're dead. It's not what we're made of, but what we do that defines us. amateurstuntman
I want to be dipped in pitch, set on fire and launched at the houses of parliament with a trebuchet. That or left as a play thing for medical students...
paranoiddroid
my money, I can be a vulgar as I like with it. on that note people who complain how I spend my money on myself annoy me.
Hedganian
Funerals aren't for the dead - they're for the living. I want a Viking ship burning, but apparently they're illegal...
amateurstuntman
Yeah but as we have previously expounded many times. The living are asshats. Good idea on the Viking thing, you get to take things from your life with you. I'd want a load of reality tv "contestants" in my burning boat with me. Heck - we could probably get Endemol to televise it and cut through all the red tape for you.
Hedganian
I like that plan. And remember, anyone who dies with you becomes your servant in the afterlife...
paranoiddroid
I want to be put on a raft and have an archer torch my floating corpse with a burning arrow.
Hedganian
You'd be thinking of a Viking Ship Burning then. Of course, the whole burning arrow thing is just Hollywood BS.
cazboab
Its the radio pouch, so not that bad but still annoying. Rant:- Strange lower middle to the left back pain. Not enough for pain killers, but definitly painful enough to make me sit funny (Like Steven Seagal after a walk to the fridge while his stunt double did some action scenes for him). I fixed it for you.
Habakure
And I had to read that twice, but very true.
Hedganian
Aye, old Steven Seagull has put on a few pounds of late, too...
FireKnife
Wait, i thought Seagal was dead from over eating and the last 5 years worth of films were a digitally imposed version of him at his best, like Arnie in Terminator Salvation? 'FireKnife'
Hedganian
Well, if that's the best they can come up with for him at his best, they might need to dial back on the "jowl" setting...
paranoiddroid
Seagal is just holding up the standard of sall town american sheriffs deputies all over the usa the fat arrogant donut eating twerp.
FireKnife
To be honest the only reason i watched old Seagal movies was for the 1911 porn and the totally pointless action, now they lack action and he keeps using non-1911 guns or the same boring A1. Did anyone watch the documentary that he and Justin Lee Collins did, he looked like such a lazy *albatross* gun nut 'FireKnife'
amateurstuntman
Hitting a guy in the head with a pool ball in a hankie was one of my favourites when I was a teen.
Habakure
I still like Under Siege. Theres a scene in it, where a thumb is used, to gouge out a mans eye ball. Also, it has Colm Meany saying "I'll get the *fruitcage* meself", classic.
FireKnife
Nah, can't beat Under Siege 2 were Seagal beats an entire system of computers and a deadly sattelite by shooting a laptop, seriously. Under Siege 1 and 2 were about the only films that actually worked for one good viewing, the rest are pap and should be avoided 'FireKnife'
hitmanNo2
What's all the Seagal hating about? Sure he's way past his prime but Hard to Kill, Marked for Death and Above the Law...awesome films.
FireKnife
They are terrible, but hey they are keeping Channel 5 in ###### films to show to the end of time. Anyway my rant of the day, listening to the terrible racism and *suitcase* my Mum's BF comes out with, seriously he needs an education or to understand why i am ignoring him. scorch
I reckon racism is a mixture of how you're raised, what you're surrounded with, and what you think yourself. For example up until I was about 8 I thought a corner shop was called a paki shop just because thats what my racist father quite openly called it. I genuinely didn't know that it was a bad thing. Then I learned different, and got away from his influence. Then started to hold my own thoughts on the matter. Also: on the subject of getting away from my father's influence. Have finally got off my backside and changed my name. Ditched his surname and took my mums maiden name. And made Scorch my middle name while I was at it, since it's been part of who I am for so long now.
Hedganian
Given that "Paki" is simply short for "Pakistani", it could be perfectly accurate usage. It's only racism if it's used that way, otherwise it's just a description, same as if you say it's "Geordie shop" if it's run by folks from Newcastle. Is that racism too? Maybe, if you're using it in a negative way, I guess...
FireKnife
Hedge you forget the Golden Rule of racism: It isn't racist if you are the same skin colour / essential back ground. Hence why for a black male to call another black male the N word is acceptable but for a white person to do it is not. But to be honest i don't see the need for racism, yes some people out there are *fruitcage*-ing dip-*suitcases* but they don't have to be (insert racial slur) *fruitcage*-ing dip-*suitcases* as that is just using something that makes no difference to enhance a negative view on a person. I am all for equality but i do believe it has a point, like why must we build a mosque in this country then get told we can't build a church in the Middle East? I am an atheist but i still get the significance of this point and how out of balance it is. 'FireKnife'

Maybe, if you're using it in a negative way, I guess... Indeed, context is everything (and I believe Paki means friend). For instance, Prince Charles has an asian friend whom he calls Sooty, it's his friend's nickname, and he has no problems being called it. As an Englishman of Anglo Saxon origins, and blue eyes, I've been called a Paki and a junglebunny, the latter by a sergeant major at army cadets, I was armed at the time, if only I'd known what the term meant. This goes to show how thick racists are, if they can't tell the difference between a caucasian with a suntan and an asian etc My fiancee's family is from Luton, and there's a lot of racism over there (after all it's the homeland of the EDF), however there is also a lot of justifiable concern regarding immigration and foreign cultures being foisted on the indigenous population (free parking for muslims on Fridays but not Jews or Christians, posterboards painted over if they have women on them).
