You're talking about the one on top ?

These are stock kimber tle/rl grips, they are metal with a thin rubber coating.

Mathub, how heavy are both those grips alone? The metal core has me interested--

I'd like to see if there are grip replacement options for my Marui 1911, but I'm not willing to mess with the ballance *too* much.

Thanks!

Mathub, yea those are the ones. Are those actual Kimber grips? or off the WA kimber? Where'd you purchase them? Last question is; What grips are on the bottom gun?

Man I want one of those PGC kits.  I'm thinking off getting the grey one, stripping of the anodised finish and then anodising it black  :o

the gun metal grey finish is very satisfying in my opinion (I GOTTA GET PICS  ). But i'd like to be able to see what it would be like in black too like you were saying. How would you go about anodising it to black? do you have the materials and stuff?

i love my pachmayrs i got the super old ones before they started putting emblems on their grip. I really just dig the clean look with pachmyer sig only on the non checkard part.

the weight of the grips feel about the same as the grips that came off the WA bobtail and come on the wilson combat fbi trials.

Well, on top, they are stock WA kimber grips, not stock kimber grips. Sorry for the mistake.

They weight about 100g each.

I can sell them.

On bottom, pachmayr signature grips. Look good on an black springfield. But on my silver one, I'll go for cocobolo.

Well, I would strip off the current finish, as Mathub did on his silver MEU (can't remember what Mathub used though, its mentioned somewhere in this thread) Then I would take it to one of my local anodisers as I happen to live about 20 mins from a business park that has pretty much every type of engineering trade imaginable on it.

I can give you a pretty precise answer on that one, since I've been doing a lot of weighing of the various parts of my Kimbers. The stock Swat TLEII grips, which are the light rubber-coated metal ones in mathub's photo, weigh 207.83 grams as a pair, or 7.3oz, for us U.S. folk. Considering that the overall weight of the TLEII is 1024.92grams, this makes the grips almost 1/4 of the guns weight.

The grips are the factory rubber-coated metal grips that come on the SCWIII Swat TLEII gun, among others. See above for actual weights. Speaking of which, I'll PM you about some real Kimber wood grips you might be interested in. :P

Wow... nearly half a pound. That's pretty heavy. Are you refering to the WA grips, or are these real steel?

Thanks for the precision info... that's perfect.
