tomo
Hey Tomo whats with the bungee around the lid mate? As Titleist says, you see shock cord in use quite a bit. I was told that the bungee was just kinda stored on the helmet, and was used with the actual NVG's to keep them in the upright position? That way, when you pull the NV's down to use them there's enough give in the shock cord to allow them to lower. No hard evidence to back that up though, it's just an idea. hburn
Would the replica mount hould a NVG arm or is it to weak? thanks
Titleist
Are you asking if a real NVG should be put on a repro arm? If that's the question, the answer is NO. Unless you like our stuff falling off.
hburn
No i am asking will the replica NVG mount hold a real NVG arm or would it just fall out.
Titleist
It depends, the G&P norotos's will hook up to a real USGI rhino arm, the others wont, as they're just for show. I think some of the other repro rhinos will as well. But if you're getting a rhino and plate, get the real deal, minus international shipping the cost is similar to an overseas knock off. hburn
I am looking at a norotos's because i want to do a modern ranger impression. But the Rhino mount is also used for rangers. what time frame did the ranger's use the rhino mount?
Titleist
pre-2006/7, but as it stands none of the norotos 1-point knock offs will fit the arm, if they did to be correct you'd have to use the enhanced swing arm, which is currently knock-off free. Roecar
My MICH 2000 WIP almost done, trying to get my hands on some ESS Striker TurboFans. I think its pretty good... The NVG is RS Norotos arm, the straps were issued MSA type as are the pads. Velcro and Petzl with a few flags and IR tabs.
Hispeed1
Nice helmet Roecar-how about dusting it with some Krylon?
Roecar
Thanks. Not sure yet about dusting a pattern, at some point I might just not at the moment.
BigD_SealTeamXXL
roecar are you left or right handed? im guessing the placement of the headtorch depends on what side you would read a map? (as in with all your kit on and where the map is) or ignore me if it means nothing
Arnie_o
Nice contrast between the Tan of the lid and the black of the velcro.
echodafish
Yeah, contrast is a great thing to have on your head.
ChrisWPA
Hey guys, I would appreciate this so much if you could help me out. Can someone post a picture of them wearing a IBH, around 5'8 or 5'9 120-140 pounds? And for this one size dosnt matter, can someone post a pic of them wearing a VFORCE GRILL with a IBH? Thanks a ton! Roecar
roecar are you left or right handed? im guessing the placement of the headtorch depends on what side you would read a map? (as in with all your kit on and where the map is) I'm right handed, I've never actually had to read a map yet on the skirmish field. Tbh the Petzl was part of the helmet package. But If i get your point I think I'd be better of with in on the left I suppose. Nice contrast between the Tan of the lid and the black of the velcro. Yeah, contrast is a great thing to have on your head. I only have black velcro atm and the beige I order won't be here for another two weeks. For the Petzl if anyone has a tan one they want to trade with I'm more than willing. On a side note my MICH sits in nicely with a PMC loadout I skirmish with, that being said I not likely to chnage the loops until it starts to peel off.
Arnie_o
keep the black petzal dude just give the Mich a dash of medium drown krylon to help break up the over all solidity of the led. that whould help.
jdizzle921
I'm sure this is in the thread somewhere but.... Whats the deal with those "Petzl" straps? I see a red LED or light on the plastic unit, what are they for? (No flaming please.. ) Edited November 26, 2008 by jdizzle921
steveo2006
Theyre head flashlights with red LED`s. Red light dos`nt impare your night vision when you need to read maps etc.. also keeps the light signature down. Edited November 26, 2008 by steveo2006
masakarijoe
i was thinking about getting one of those. recommend it? how is it for navigation? are the lenses swappable from red to clear? they sell them here at the PX, and i was curious. -Joe

Pkekyo-Nor
if memory serves, they run at $34 off SKD-tac, and SKD usually charges around $25 shipping for just about anything
jdizzle921
They're only $34? Wow, thats not bad at all. I figured that since it was remotely NV related, it would be some $400 light accessory...LOL
Shriven
:\ It's not NV related. It's a red light...

They range in price from $30 to $50 depending on what you get in the package. Edited November 28, 2008 by Wrench Bender
