darkchild130
Get your combat jacket drawcord tightened and tucked under....your wearing yours like a pongo. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>  Yay, we have our very own bootneck  Darkchild
Ubar
Its so you can drop empty mags down front of your jacket during a firefight and not lose them....its quicker and easier. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Â Â yeah, he will be dropping them into his smock below his webbing belt, i'm sure... cjfield1129
Although it looked good and the reticle was sweet, the SUSAT didn't work out for me due to eye relief/quick acquisition issues. I'm trying an older version ACOG from another setup to see how I like it. The eye relief is much better (almost 3") and the magnification is also 4x which I like. What do you think? cjfield1129
I had it off for some work when the pic was taken. I figured someone was going to ask
Bill Hearst
Well, I'm, not sure what i think about your configuration.... from the practical point of view it makes sense, but from the "style" point of view it doesn't! From the designpoint i don't like it! Maybe I'm too much "traditional", but for me a L85 with another optic than a SUSAT (except issued NightVisions or scopes) is an absoluteley NOGO! On the other hand there are some rumours about the army is going to replace the SUSATs with ACOGs...
fatJoe
Not bad looking, although the mount is too high for my liking.

Bill Hearst
Nice... but how's the Bayonet performing? Does it fit correctly? Heard a rumor that it should not fit the Star SA80 Flashhider... is that correct?!
king_P90
The bayonet doesn't fit due to a steel ring around the flashhider, once you remove the ring the bayonet fits, however it doesn't lock so it can still spin round and fall off. Edited February 5, 2007 by king_P90
maccrage
I got it from Evike, and they sent it with a plastic flash hider. So I bought a cheap metal springer from a surplus store, and took the flash hider. The bayonet fits perfect. I used my Dremel to cut the slot for the bayonet lock, so it sits properly and doesn't spin.
Bill Hearst
Thanx for the info's dudes! Â @maccrage: They delivered the STAR with a plastic flashhider?! Â However, so the bayonet fits with a little modifikation - better than nutin'! It is possible to make a photo of the slot in the fh? Would be great! Edited February 6, 2007 by Bill Hearst
maccrage
Yeah. Orange plastic flash hider, and they wouldn't send the real one. Â Here is the slot I cut. The latch on the bayonet goes into it. Â
Bill Hearst
Great! Thanx a lot mate! Hope i'll get an SA80 Bayonet soon... Â Btw: The thing with the FH sucks! Edited February 9, 2007 by Bill Hearst

Eddie182
Best looking LMG I have ever seen. Am I right in thinking it's the Star version? Â What have you done to it, and where did you get the mk1 handguards and SUSAT rail from. Â Looking to do the exact same thing myself when I eventually get my LMG. colonel_kipper
Cheers bud. The gun's TOP so has the FN markings and all that. Inside, it's got a PGC gearbox and a 9.6 in the box mag wired to the trigger. The Mk 1 handguards are from a TOP Mk 1 model. As for the rail, it was designed and built by my brother. He'll probably do a run of them if there's enough interest.
