IIRC, that gun was made using either an l85 springer or the academy l85 AEG as a base gun, and was almost entirely made fom plastic. The ris unit was one made originally for an armalite, and the whole thing was part of a limited run made by Carot Apple Works in Japan.

This was way back when, way before the star L85 series was announced. This was the time when the demand for L85 AEG's were high and was common practice amongst a few companies in Japan (such as SA80 workshop, there was also a few more I think) to churn out scratch built/customise L85 AEG replicas for stupidly high prices

Sorry for the very old quote and if this is a stupid question but what's different about the new handguard compared with the old one?

Just wondering where are the rack numbers located on the SA80 (those numbers that are painted on the gun for ID purposes)? I want to put a rack number on my gun but I don't know where it goes. I think it's on the cheek rest or the front of the hand guard (I have no idea)?

After I get my SUSAT and then I'll post a pic :P

Varies depending on the unit. Most have them along the top just in front of the butt, we have them on the bottom behind the magwell. Also SUSAT has another number that goes on top in the circular part.

i dont think the susats will og down much in price :( i bought all my stuff when it first came out £375 for a l85, worth it though, someone told me that someone ran into a tree full pelt barrel first to prove that the star rifles are good, didnt break though :D

btw susats FTW!!

it might be because i was with the grottiest training unit in the land, but when i saw rifles fitted with the susat the number on the sight didn't always match the number on the rifle itself.

then again, i didn't get to play with the susat much. hooray for heavy infantry and the land of carry handles that you can't use to carry the weapon...

alot of soldiers that i have seen dont have the numbers on their rifles, am i not seeing something?

They'll be on there. Rifles will have a butt number assigned to them (for easy reference and organisation within the armoury) that could potentially be written anywhere on the rifle - on the bottom behind the magazine, on the top behind the cheekpiece, anywhere. This is so the armourer and the soldier can easily identify each rifle (clear, short number per rifle). Each rifle is stamped at production with an "Alpha number", which is the serial number and reads A#####, where # is 0-9. The alpha number is always stamped onto the lower TMH in the same place, but the butt number could be written anywhere.
