ColDaz
I've been christened today with a new name. I do not like this name, but it seems to be mine. I'm actually a little worried they'll brand it on my *albartroth*. It seems my Sergeant cannot grasp my name (Darren Ruutel), and has now named me the stupidest of all names possible: Rutty. I've never had a nick name before - you can't really do much with 'Darren' but shorten it to 'Daz'. So, has anyone else got any stupid nick names that they either like or dislike? sillyp
Well, I was christened Psycho after I got in several fights at my high school. No one has messed with me since, and the name stuck. For some reason, my last name, Broadwell, is too much of a hassle to say, so people have gone to saying B-Well.

richie_j
My coaches used to make nicknames from doing 1 of 3 things: 1- Adding a letter to a name, normally a Y 2- Taking off the last half a name 3- Using initials So i became Jonesy, my mat mat o'neil became matty-O, and someone became DJ. What an smart bunch they were

Hissing_Sid
Isn't it odd that the only people posting in this thread are those with nicknames such as "psycho" or "porn-star"? Nobody keen to reveal that they are called "Pizza-Face", "Jabba" or "Billy Onions" by all who know them?

Hardcore_Mitsuko
My name's quite short so I've never had any need for a nickname to be honest. The first nickname I got was in the last year of High school, when my best friend called me Goth. She didn't adress me as Goth when speaking to me though, it was only really when using text messages, and I'd call her Hippy. I suppose you could say Hardcore is my new nickname, to an extent. BadAssTronaut
My names Simon, but for some reason a select few people at work call me either "Sanjeev", "Sanj" or "Sanjmo". Gaz (On these forums) has resorted to calling me "Ho Chi Vin" bacause of my haircut and apparent addiction to Nam movies. My Mate Paul (Itsari on these forums) gets called either "Pablo", "Playbo" or "Pyro" Sorry mate.
cazboab
I've never had a nick name before - you can't really do much with 'Darren' but shorten it to 'Daz'. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It gets worse when your parents stop useing your real name and use your three letter abreviation . screamin_weasel
i have Old Bean. comes from the fact that me and my best mate (also Old Bean), while at high school lieked everything of maturity an quality - fine ales, whiskies, proper music and qualtiy old humour. unlike our friends who drank lager, listened to hip hop and laughed American Pie. hence we got called Old Men, then Old Bean stuck. and yes, convos between me and my best mate go : "alright Old Bean?" "yeah im fine Old Bean. hwo are you" "im cool Old Bean" a bti wierd, but its cool, and it stuck.
Para
I've been called 'the person who know too much about guns and NFL'. and 'Jay', two quite different names there. It makes me laugh when nicknames are longer than people normal names. Edit: Sepling mistookes.
Hardcore_Mitsuko
I can understand using nicknames to differentiate between people with the same or very similar names, so in that case it's almost justified even if it makes the name slightly longer. I see your point if there really isn't a reason to change the persons name, but they do it anyway.
