navymp28
Sounds like you are well on the way I recommended the ALICE gear over a vest right now, because long term I think you can get more milage out of them (Lots of different units use / have used ALICE gear). I currently use a vest (I'm not much of a stickler for authenticity) but I keep my ALICE gear around cause vests can get hot in the summer. As for holsters, I don't know what others think but I don't like drop legs... They always end up wrapped around my knees at the worst possible time. I prefer a good belt holster, worn high on my right side and a bit back (over my kidney). It keeps my back up handy, but also out of my way (especially when prone). For Mp5 mags they seem ok, as the mags are usually light, and don't pull quite as much. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well The M16/M4 mag pouch will hold 4 MP5 mags quite well. Pic 1: This has a good example of The tapes mag holders...and those are the holders that wil hold the MP5 pouches. incedentally that is from Gulf War 1..next has the sleeve pockets and a cool Boonie, looks to have been trimmed. Web gear and the fins.. Some SEALS with MP-5's making a beach landing... and here is the Alice suspenders and pouches. note the 2 canteens and a butpack. If you are going to do the Alice..I would go with H Harness and a Belt with Kidney pad. Blackhawk makes a nice rig but IMO it's too pricy for what it is. Hope this helps out man-
navymp28
Also...the pics are copy right there respective locations and the whos whats. And this is a personel favorite. Love the Blue Shorts with the camo top and what looks to be an H harness and pouches. Note the Velcro on the sleeve.
hivemind
Isn't that an LBV/LBE he's got on there? Note the laces on the sides.

All I ever saw when I was in was the right handed Bianchi suicide holsters.
infected
Thanks for the info Jimisin73. Question (yes.. again...) What belt do I wear with that??? So I guess now I just need the mp5 pouches that work with the ALICE system, and a canteen and my USP and I'm all set.

They hold the MP5 mags and when you decide to get an M4 of you ever do, they will hold those mags as well. I found some here And as for drop legs, I like the Blackhawk Omega VI, it will work well with a Web belt. If you check ebay you can get a decent deal on one.
infected
Web belt? Excuse my stupidity, but is that the same as the Pistol belt that Jimisin73 mentioned? Thanks for all the info. I think I have just one more question... looking at all the gear that Navymp28 mentioned... what all would you keep in your Buttpack? I mean, say I've got my mp5 and my USP. So now I have a place for my mags for my mp5 (or m4), and I guess I'll need to get a mag holster for the pistol. I've got my canteens for obvious reason. What all do you guys keep in the buttpack? I was thinking of picking up some binoculars or a monocular as well, just for later when we're playing in a woodland setting. Other than that, I cant' figure out what the heck you guys carry that fills all these pouches (RAID pockets on the blouse, buttpack, and all the other nooks and crannies). Again, you guys rock... maybe soon I'll graduate from newbie.

Jimisin73
...magazines (tiger beat, cosmo etc.), beef jerky, porn, extra smokes... Some guys actually stuff them with wood blocks and pillows (LOL). I usually carry the stuff I normally use, and a bit of grub. Oh BTW, Web Belt = Pistol Belt Edit: One more thing... On the pistol belt. You want the modern nylon one with the quick release buckles not the old fashioned cotton one with the metal buckle (these are ###### and usually only used for ceremonial and ###### SP (sorry Navymp28) duty. )
MarineDEP
I usually use it as a dump Pouch (for empty mags) I also carry my green gas in there, along with other small things (para-cord, od duct tape, bag of bbs, or a bottle of bbs stuffed with a glove *good trick to mute the rattling*)
infected
Cool. Thanks for the suggestions... Oh, one more thing... yet again... I am looking at building some of thoes claymores (using rat traps), would those fit in the buttpack?

Jimisin73
MA SP you're all ballbusters in my book, but still swabbies... could be worse... you could work for NIS... LOL (Former knuckledragging BM myself LOL) ok back on topic: Just buy your stuff a little bit at a time and its not so bad. I'd got for the stuff to go with your current gun first (Suspenders, belt and mag pouches) and then expand from there.
Monk
Got to agree with Jimsin on this. Stick with what you're building now and try not to get sidetracked early on. One look/loadout at a time. I think too many people fall into the trap of buying a gun, starting one loadout, then buying another gun, pouring money into that and then trying to build another loadout without ever really completing one thing. Personally, I go the pragmatic route when it comes to gear. A set of cheap web gear, some BDUs sets (get at least one woodland, one 3-color desert initially). Since the web gear is cheap and durable, you can have it around as a backup once you do spring for a serious LBV. Also, I strongly recommend avoiding replica vests. Save the money for a real one. infected
Okay, I don't want to seem like I"m starting over here, but.... I was reading this article: http://www.airsoftplayers.com/webbing/webbing.asp And they suggested using the LBV-88 over the ALICE gear as far as comfort goes. Now, how authentic is would that be for say a SEAL impersonation? I don't know... that's why I'm asking. I want to try to look some what authentic.
