Lonewolf. There is one thing that you didn't mention that has really been bugging me. Did they call their hits? :P

If you need some night guards, give me a call and I'll be there in a jiffy.

They would have to be pretty stupid to come back again. Unless they went out and bought their own airsoft guns.

A $40 SureFire G2 would kick *albatross* too, these lights are worth EVERY CENT!

Desolation MkII: No. I contacted the landlord to ban them from this site, and I urded him to get more marshalls.

Cheers,

Mike

Good job.

Cheers, and everyone stay safe.

I have experience with real-steel weapons on a almost daily basis, that's why I'm not afraid to keep a weapon locked and loaded, be it airsoft or real.

Cheers,

Mike

Well my hat's off to you for quick thinking and doing something.

As for me i'd like to think i'd do something brave and sensible yet i'd probably hide under the covers and prod the misses into action.

You don't by any chance sleep in your birthday suit do you? Cause i'd run a mile if someone came out after me brandishing his weapon!

Slang for a sand rat. Now I say that because I respect the Muslim people, just not the *rickrolls* who decide to blow *beep* up.

Furthermore, the term 'Hajis' is used primarily by US forces. My buddy who just got back from Iraq prefers calling Muslims that term than saying the more derogatory 'sand n!66ers'. :waggle:

Mike - Do you get any sort of 'diplomatic immunity' from your actions (i.e. caught with the PTW in public)? I could imagine the look on those would-be robbers if you instead raised your M249 at them

Cheers!

E.T.

If I remember correctly there is a scene in Lost In Translation with Bill Murray where they are in a bar.club, and there is some commotion and the guys behind the bar pull out an AEG and shoot at the offending twats on full auto... queue Bill Murray running from scene in comedy fashion...

I encountered a similar situation except it was my SR25 that happened to be by the bed.

SureFires really are fantastic defensive tools, all they're other many uses notwithstanding. Nothing stops an aggressor flat quite like taking their sight out of the game. It's just one of many reasons I added an L2 to my collection. It features a dual-mode digitally regulated high output LED with 15 lumens (18 hours run time for general stuff) or 100 lumens (60 minutes) for when you mean it. Not a bad replacement for the x5/G2 duo I used to carry. Really the only thing that could make it better in my opinion would be if it was about an inch shorter and had a crenelated bezel and switch assembly.

I originally went to the shop to get a handful of G2s to leave here and there. One for my car, one for my bike, one for my house, one for my EMT bag at work, etc. But then I saw the L2 sitting there (I'd had my eye on it for a while since a friend got one) and I decided what the hell. G2s are like popcorn anyway, I can always get them later.

On the subject, G2s are a great gift for someone that's only got a like a mini maglite or some generic D cell light to their name. I gave one to the girlfriend to keep in her purse since the walk up to her apartment is pretty dark. I included a lesson on 'tactical blinding' along with it and now she feels a lot safer going home at night.

Speaking of mini maglites, Some of my friends and I do a trip to Yosemite every year or so. We usually take one of the days to hike up Half Dome. On the way down the last time it got dark on us about half way down. No worries of course, we all had x5s and at least one SureFire each (plus loads of batteries).

After a little while we came across an older woman and her late-twenty-something son. They were slowly creeping along down the trail with only a mini maglite each, and they looked to be low on batteries. Seriously, these things made fireflies look bright. They were full-on bent over pretty much nose to the ground just so they could see their feet were going to hit solid earth on the next step. The situation was made worse because the woman had hurt her ankle. Well we handed off an X5 to each of them, which significantly speeded things up, and proceeded to escort them the rest of the way out. We gave them a lecture on the merits of good illumination when they inquired about our lights.

They still slowed us way down on account of her being hurt and all but I wonder if they'd even made it out before daylight (or before their batteries died) if we'd not come across them (we had debated taking a different trail actually). Hopefully they learned their lesson and went out and bought some real torches.

I still want to get an E2D eventually. Besides being pointy they're just so cool. But I'm of the opinion you need at least 100 lumens to be truly effective defensively. Not that ~60 isn't effective, I mean I love my 6P/G2 setups, it's just that you can pretty much hide behind 100. If they came out with a hotter bulb for the E2D I'd own one already.

Anyway here's a pic of my new buddy:

in Lone_Wolfs defence, i know for sure that if i had some little git trying to break in through my window, the first thing i would do is to grab the nearest thing to me that looked like a gun, and attempt to scare the ###### out of them, i would indeed probably look back and say wat an idiot i was to do it, but as a spur of the moment thing, i would do exactly that, and if they were outside when you fired then that seems ok! if they were inside then it would be a different matter... but i say good going Lone_Wolf! +1 for giving those little buggers exactly what they deserve!

I think that I would pass on the PTW and go for Surefire backed up by the ka-bar! Fewer questions on if it was real or not. Also, not the wisest thing to shoot them(though perhaps my favorite part of your story). Could be legal complications, though they would have to give themselves up. Never the less, if they were caught, it is a possibility. Also, are you confident enough that you are not frightened of fighting an attacker H2H? If not, PM me and I'll give you some good links on great training worldwide. Again, great job on defending yourself!
