donnie
I got a quote in the UK to plate an AK - was around £160 IIRC - that was 24CT. Were not talking a bar of the stuff - just a thin coating...and I bet its single coated too.
Mr6
Its labelled a NVRS gen 1 Got it a couple years ago from some russian night vision scope web shop - cant recall the name now... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Was that Soviet Bazaar? They went bust, which is a shame they had some great digital NV gear for £300 uk Edited July 25, 2006 by Mr6
donnie
Yeah thats them - soviet Bazaar - thats a shame - they had a lot of good gear. Darklite - I bow to your superior reading skills - I just speed read the ads! Edited July 25, 2006 by donnie
AngusSkie
Awsome Aug Donnie, That RIS really makes the AUG look nice.
Milla
Agree, i really like that look of the Aug, very futuristic.
DarkLite
It might be real gold... but 24 carot? I thought 24 was pure gold? Or am I horribly mistaken Also if its only 500 for that much 24 carot gold I might have to unload my savings and scrap the gold off of em <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's plate - solid gold would be a tad heavy. skeandhu
I think I should've gotten my m15 goldplated too

t_wad
Solid gold would also not be very sturdy at all.
phoenix360mute
hey, if i got a JET AUG like that one donnie, how easy would it be to convert it into a half decent sniper? and this is for someone that has never had an AEG, so bare that in mind
spaceghost0
Donnie, you are my hero. I don't have a clue what I'd do with it, but that AK is just awesome. Are you growing a 'stache for that Saddam loadout?
Robot 2000
About the AUG - if you covered up the gaps between the top rail and the receiver it would look a lot more like the A3. Like so (powers - combine! form of - MS PAINT!)
clmwrx
Wow I may buy an aug now. I hate you more robot..

Guest
Gold guns suck balls, I mean the engraving gold has no tactical advantage, those guns are meant as show pieces, not for shooting people
HKG36
Yep totally agree and the funny thing is that if you even shot a full mags worth of ammo the gold would flake off due to the heat.
airsoftfreak14
I personally think gold on guns like that looks like absolute trash.
canizzle
Yeah gold is weaker than metal. Thats why in the old days people bite pieces of gold and if it leaves a dent, its real.
t3hDesertFox
Got bored of the support gunner role. Yay.

Thats why in the old days people bite pieces of gold and if it leaves a dent, its real. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Gold is metal, it is just a softer type. And no Gold wouldn't come off the weapon from heat. Gold is an excellent conductive material and is used in many electronic devices. It's melting point is 400 degrees Celsius higher than aluminum. 500 lower than Iron. and only 300 less than Steel. A weapon made entirely of gold may become malformed after extended use, but a weapon coated in it, perfectly fine to use. Edited July 26, 2006 by Nodbugger
BARsrule2
Yeah gold is weaker than metal. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Please tell me you aren't past 8th grade.
donnie
Yes that is awsome. But you know whats even better a gold SVD <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ahh the temptation of the yellow! I find it suprising that the ak raises quite a bit of hostility I spose like Saddam - you love him or hate him, but you cant ignore him ANd yes - I am growing a moustache - however my hunger strike is not going so well as I just had a Ruffle bar for breakfast.
