Was never a fan of playing CQB till I played at The Mall.

What a turn around as I constantly look forward to my next time going there.

Got my 1st airsofting knife on Friday to use this weekend, and the lil beauty got a good workout.

Saturday (CorpWars, Pan-Euro): Snuck around behind enemy (Americans) into the CnA basement (no lights apart from torches) and managed to knife kill 5 or 6 players and shot a "Civilian" who I thought was someone who noticed me and ducked behind cover (My bad Dennis "The Crazy Rat dude").

Sunday: (me as an original Viral Yellow *later was on green/plains team*) Saw a squad of enemies being escorted up main stairs to the Ball Pit, decided to give em a lil time (half min or so) then follow up. Get up there, andthe group is standing in one doorway, with one guy dry firing his gun. He looks up sees me, then turns around and follows his mates thru to the balcony. Follow up behind them , knife killing each as I go along till i actually get onto the balcony with the last guy. All the others "plains"just look at me and think/say WTF is a yellow doing up here in the middle of us?" Queue me knife the last guy, then spray 2 more guys, only to start shouting "hit! Hit! hIt! f*cking hit ;) " as I get lit up by the other 5 or so guys there.

Lots of 'grats passed my way, stupefied questions of HTH I got in the middle of em, cheeky grin on my face, and me slowly limping away (They all seemed to aim just for my right thigh, got hit atleast 10 times there :( )

Epic weekender was epic :D:D

Ive got to say, deffinitly give The Mall a try, its a top class site it really is. The guys who run it are a great bunch and they know what they are doing.

They do a few good MilSim days too, Im not a fan of there normal days but thats simply because Im not a fan of hi caps, at a site like the mall it completely changes teh game play! thats not to say they are bad, just not for me :)

Favourtie CQB rig I have run in a long time was this suited and booted look! Was alot of fun and worked really well! Deffinitly a high speed low drag number!

the kit isnt that much different as you guys mentioned before pistol is a neccessity! ( i know it aint kit but just emphasising the point :P) and good vest too with the neccersary loadout to ur liking and the enviroment your in only suggestion dont use snipers in CQB everyone functions on AEG's - its messy, might as well join in too like everyone else. welcome to the CQB side hope u find it fun!

I must admit I had mixed feelings when I played at the Mall. There seemed to be three main bottlenecks and most people were too scared to push forward and moving forward often had you shot by your own team who just blasted anything that moved in front of them. Not a criticism of the site, more some of the people there on that particular day. I'll be going again though as the site team was friendly enough and the games were well run and varied throughout the day which I can't help but applaud.

to be honest that is a common issue at cqb sites - players who arnt used to them (or new players) just bog down when they see just how mnay places ppl could be coming from and when they realise that even the shortest move could open them up from all sorts of angles they cant check until they move :P - takes a while for ppl to realsie that its best to just keep moving and move fast.

Also - alot of players i see tend to get behind cover and just exchange pot chots with other ppl behind cover untill the end of days.....never really understood what ppl are afraid of when it comes to advancing...might get shot? beats sitting on your *albatross* for 30min accomplishing nothing :P

I ain't played CQB yet... but would love to... Have an ancient TM MP5 RAS which would be perfect for CQB... but it shoots at 346fps... which I suspect is too much for CQB..

Also have a couple of WA Infinity blowback pistols.....

I'm similar. I've no weapons that would be suitable for one thing, but man, some of those shell fed gas shotguns being advertised look soo cool.

Do any folk here who play with them on close quarters matches have any difficulty retrieving all their spent ammo casings? Id imagine it could get expensive incredibly easy if you weren't careful.

Is it just a case of writing your initials on each one and being mindful of where you drop them?

Cheers :)

OMG, OMG, I play my first game of CQB at the Embassy in Leicester a F&O site.. Holy smoke Batman, i'm hooked!!!!

The building consists of 3 floors, a dark, dark basement level with lots of nooks and crannies a torch is a must), the 1st floor which is a huge expanse of space the size of a football pitch and then there is the 2nd floor which is like a bunch of offices and long corridors... All I can say... WOW!

I played all day with my Systema CQB and 0.25bbs and really enjoyed the semi shot rule (no auto fire allowed)..... Best of all, as it's indoors the place is weather proof....

Downside, is that when you get shot, damn it hurts... but hey it all adds to the excitement.... :)

Couldn't agree more... the first game I kinda sat on my albatross too... for fear of getting shot, but then I thought WTF am I doing...? Keep moving and if get shot so be it.... the fun is trying to clear the rooms and getting shot if you don't check the corners or if you stick your head out around a door... =))

I did have a classic Kodak moment when I was running, I think sidewards, not looking where I was going and wollop... straight into a wooden barrier... I went flying... :D. I did manage to hold onto my M4 so most of my dignity was still intact..:))

Most people give them up as not being skirmishable, but if you have the money for plenty of shells, they have the potential to be a lot of fun. No initials on the shells are needed though - Just get a shell catcher so you don't need to think about it.

I'll echo Faramon...if you go Shotgun for CQB TM is the way to go. Though my Dad swears by his Mad Max Double Barrel. :P

Anyways..I think i'm addicted to CQB since in the last month i've bought both a WELL MP7(Getting fixed up) and a UMP bringing me up to 3 HK SMGs. And amusingly enough...watched a friend get blasted from a 203 from about 15 feet...was amusing. :P Pistols=most fun for me though.

Agree, i would like to see more "pistols only" CQB games. And maybe some shot-guns to add some "heavy weapons". Reminds me of our earliest games, when people cared about how many BBs they already shot out of their mags. Today, there is too much "spray and pray" going on. Also good ammo restrictions would help. Imagine a game where you got a CQB field for ca. 40 players, each got only 60 rounds or so. Then you stick to your rubber knife. :D

The shell ejectors are genuinely the worst thing to try and use.

You can successfully play with nearly anything, if you're determined enough and have the balls to just do it.

I'm working on a pistol only loadout at the moment, but I think I'd have more fun knowing I'm showing up the guys with AEGs than other people with pistols.

I have the balls I must of clearly lacked the determination .. I had a nice Maruzen M87 .. it was lovely to feel and handle, I had about 30 shells all fired well and I had a shell catcher .. the only issue I had which killed it and completely halts me from recommending anyone use them is the ability for it to get jammed.

Two ways this happens ... if you don't pump it fully / hard enough (this one isn't so bad unless you go all weak wrist). The other main one being with a shell catcher attached, if the shell catcher moves forward even a couple of mm's and stops a full racking .. that's game for the shotgun for 5 mins while you unscrew it remove all the ammo, guide spring and then dislodge the stuck shell either out or fully in. This happened a good 7 - 10 times in one game day and it was not fun or helpful.

Otherwise they are a fun gun, if you can make 100% sure your hell catcher won't move up then great and have fun but personally I found it annoying as hell so just stuck with the ole tri shot :)

Oh they have one pretty cool thing, hand loading shells. got some one at range load 1 - 3 rounds in a shell, some guys at short range .. well interrupt and load it with a 6 - 10 round cloud maker. It was cool having a badonlier sling with 3 different types of shells on so that you could measure the situation and use the most appropriate round.

But jams cripple it all.
