Royal Mail Postal Exemptions

Royal Mail Group plc will not accept a letter that contains any of the following:

 

* Aerosols, except inhalers with a volume of 50ml or less

* Alcoholic liquids with alcohol content higher than 70%

*Asbestos

* Batteries that are classed as dangerous goods by the latest edition of the International Civil Aviation Organization’s Technical Instructions

* Butane lighters and refills

* Clinical and medical waste

* Flammable, non-flammable, toxic compressed gases

* Corrosives

* Counterfeit money or counterfeit postage stamps

* Drugs of any description, unless approved (see below)

* Dry ice

* Environmental waste

* Explosives

* Filth

* Flammable liquids or solids

* Lottery tickets excepts for United Kingdom lottery tickets

* Indecent, obscene or offensive material

* UN2814 OR un290 Infectious substances as classified at 6.2 of the 2005-2006 edition Technical Instructions for the Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air, published by ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation).

* Magnetised material with a magnetic field strength of 0.159A/m or more at a distance of 2.1m from the outside of the package

* Matches

* Oxidising materials or organic peroxides

* Pesticides

*Toxic liquids, solids or gases

* Poisons

* All radioactive material and samples that are classified as radioactive using Table 2-12 of the latest edition of the International Civil Aviation Organization’s Technical Instructions

* Weapons of war, except as permitted by part exclusions below.

* Ammunition

* Solvent-based paints, varnishes and enamels

* Water-based paints, varnishes and enamels with volume over 150ml

* Any other item prohibited by law or that in the opinion of Royal Mail may be harmful or dangerous to Royal Mail employees

 

 

A letter containing any of the following items may be posted provided that the sender meets all Royal Mail Group plc’s requirements for acceptance of the item, including, but not limited to, packaging requirements:

 

* Alcoholic liquids with alcohol content lower than 70%

* Batteries, other than those prohibited in above paragraph

* Battery operated goods, excluding the batteries if prohibited as described above

* Drugs sent in emergencies for medical or scientific purposes (also see Medicines below)

* Guns for sporting use

* Diagnostic Specimens as classified at Division 6.2 of the 2005-2006 Edition Technical Instructions for the Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air, published by ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation), only if they meet in full the packaging instruction set out in Royal Mail's Packaging Requirements for Diagnostic Specimens.

* Living creatures

* Magnetised materials, other than those prohibited under paragraph 15.1

* Medicines: prescription and over-the-counter medicines may be sent subject to conditions and provided you have Royal Mail's prior written consent

* Water-based paints, vanishes and enamels with volume less than 150ml

* Perishable goods

* All radioactive material and samples that are not classified as radioactive using Table 2-12 of the latest edition of the International Civil Aviation Organization’s Technical Instructions

* Vaccines

 

 

Consequences Of Ignoring them Rules

 

Royal Mail take all legal and safety issues very seriously and will refuse to carry illegal or harmful items. If they are found in the post, we can return them to the sender or dispose of them. And in some cases, the sender may face prosecution.

You know those cards that get shown before each film, from the BBFC? That state that a film has been certified for cinema viewing? They normally have one signature on them when you go to see a film at the pics.

 

There's so many signatures on the R18 films, you can't read the card properly.

guns for sporting us are allowed, just make sure that the package is marked "sporting goods" or something along those lines

Sending top venting blanks (or any RIF) has always been OK to post, but you still can't send the blank rounds as they are explosives.
