Now some information about the USS Akira:

The Akira-class was one of four computer-generated ships that were designed for Star Trek: First Contact, and it became the favorite of the Industrial Light and Magic artists. Alex Jaeger, a designer at ILM, says the radically different look of the new ships was born of necessity. "The main reason they look really different is that from a distance, the producers wanted them to be completely new looks, because we introduced a new Enterprise in the film and didn't want it to get lost," Jaeger explains. "They intially planned to have at least one ship that we could get closer to camera. That was the Akira, so it got the most attention to detail. It wound up being almost as big as the Enterprise-E - the E is longer, but the saucer section is almost the same size."

"It was one design they [the producers] liked from the get-go. It has some of the feel of the old USS Reliant NCC-1864 and its rollbar effect, but with a catamaran style with the split hull design. In the side view you almost can't see the bridge because between the sides of the hull, down between the two sections, is a protective device. "This was my gunship/battlecruiser/aircraft carrier," Jaeger adds. "It has 15 torpedo launchers and two shuttlebays - one in the front, with three doors, and one in the back. I really got into it with one, with the whole idea that the front bay would be the launching bay, and then to return they'd come into the back, because they'd be protected by the rest of the ship."

The Akira-class can supposably perform a saucer separation using the catamaran hull edging to define the start. The separation idea was not pursued, but the Akira-class made its appearance in the dramatic battle with the Borg at Sector 001, as well as in several battles with the Dominion, and on Star Trek: Voyager.

Yup.

We're slowly chipping away at the 1 mil mark.

Here's my english essay we could write about whatever as long as we introduced a character:

"Akira, begin recording personal log number 063."

A cold voice came over the small room's speakers "Yes Admiral". A tall man was sitting at his desk, pouring himself a few fingers of ambrosia. He took a sip and leaned back, trying to let the stress flow out of him before speaking. "To anyone that hears this, these are the events that have occurred since 17 March, 2553. We were on a mission, our last. We were to set course for Niev III and evac the civvies planet side, then jump as far away from Sol. system as we could before the Covenant activated the Ark. The following events have transpired since then, also included is our AI's tactical data on this new enemy. Switch to decryption sequence Sierra Zulu 7-10."

He attached the file to the message using his data pad. "Akira save and pause." he stood and re-entered the bridge. "Akira, ship status." the AI appeared on a pedestal mounted next to the main tactical screen. She was radiating a vibrant blue with lines of code scrolling across her holographic "skin". "Structural Integrity is at 12%, if we don't stop and make repairs soon we won't live through the next fight. MAC Turrets one and three are operational. Both plasma turrets are also in good order. All shield generators are blown and the engineers report that it will be another two hours until their repaired. Even then we will only be capable of 30% total shield strength. Slip Space engines are back online and so is main propulsion, I recommend that we keep the slip space drives spun up incase more Basestars jump in.

The Battlestar Pegasus on the other hand, is a wreck. Weapons are destroyed and only one Viper squadron remains. Their ship is badly damaged and will not be able to move on its own power. Orders?" the AI looked at the Admiral. Standing in at 6' 4" he was as tall as most Spartans. He was also the youngest Admiral in the UNSC, however his age betrayed his appearance. He was only 25 yet he looked about 40. The pressure of war turned his once jet black hair into a weathered, salt-pepper grey. Aside from his looks, he was a tactical genius. Because of this he quickly ascended through the ranks. Soon he was placed in command of this very battle group. He was in command of three of the most advanced ships the UNSC has ever produced. But that was one month ago.

"Alright, send a request to the Pegasus that they should abandon ship. Prep cargo bays three and four for survivors. Have all Pegasus Officers meet me on the bridge, and assign new duties to the Pegasus crew. Transfer all useable munitions to cargo bay two." He walked over to the NAV console. "Set new course for" he typed in a set of co-ordinates "here. When we arrive maneuver the ship to the planet's dark side and shutdown all non critical systems. We must get the remainder of the weapon systems back on-line and also the shields. Have the Viper squadron link up with our Longswords and begin patrols. Execute"

He looked over towards Ops Lt Hikowa was staring at her screen, contemplating their situation. "Hikowa, you holding up alright?" she shifted, looking as if she'd seen everyone she ever knew die before her. She looked like that because that's exactly what happened. "I'm alright Sir. I just" she paused, trying to find the words "I just wish we could've gone back…. What… What are we going to do now?" It was as if the whole bridge was staring him down. He could feel dozens of eyes burning holes through his body. "We keep fighting. We've lost far too many good men and women to stop fighting now. We are the last of humanity. If we die our culture, our beliefs, and our ideals die with us. Be it the Covenant, the Cylons, or the Borg. Our enemies are numerous but we will defeat them. And we will survive." He knew their spirits were defeated, their morale crushed. Only a true miracle could save them. The ruthless onslaught of attacks would soon leave them defeated.

Humanity has reached it's end.

"Admiral!" the AI yelled "Multiple radar contacts, I'm receiving UNSC recognition codes." she paused, deciphering the data.

"Re-enforcements have arrived."
