joker, the frickin ninja
Hey could someone send me a link of that vest Eric Bana was wearing in Black Hawk Down? http://www.spybroken.com/bana/pics/film/bhd/BHDdisk2_024.jpg http://www.spybroken.com/bana/pics/film/bhd/BHDdisk2_025.jpg http://www.spybroken.com/bana/pics/film/bhd/BHDdisk2_032.jpg http://www.spybroken.com/bana/pics/film/bhd/BHDdisk2_033.jpg http://www.spybroken.com/bana/pics/film/bhd/BHDdisk2_030.jpg http://www.spybroken.com/bana/pics/film/bhd/BHDdisk2_036.jpg http://www.spybroken.com/bana/pics/film/bhd/BHDdisk2_023.jpg There is a bunch of reference pics I found on Google. Could anyone help me with this? Thanks.
CapaciousZepher
Looks too me like a chest rig worn over body armor. I'm sure many people on these forums could tell you exactly what it is. Cheers! - CapaciousZepher
joker, the frickin ninja
I'm pretty sure its not a chest rig. I just watched the movie.
CapaciousZepher
Ah, well that supersedes my knowledge there as I don't have the movie in front of me. Have you tried searching? There has definitely been some threads in the past little while concerning BHD loadouts. Cheers! - CapaciousZepher
Lithium Jack
I am really very sure it is the BHI Chest rig worn over some PT body armor. You can see a nice shot of it at the end of the film, when he's stuffing more mags into it.
twonuts
Alright guys, check this out.... Go watch the "On the set" part of the DVD... towards the middle part find where Jason Issacs (Captain Steele) is talking and u'll see a 360 degree view of Eric Bana.. Notice something odd? There are 2 straps running down his chest. To me this actually looks like 3 vests at this point. One being the underlying armor. Two being what looks like a BHI vest with all the pockets removed and third being the BHI .223 chest mounted pouches worn over everything: http://www.blackhawk.com/product_detail.as...duct_id=2475&d= You can tell it's those pouches in black as the straps are nearly 2 inches wide. However when they pan around to his back, you don't see a waist strap but the waist strap could be really thin and darker than the shoulder straps and blend in better. My best guess is it's loosely based on the BHI Urban assualt vest (which has no zipper front) and the chest mounted pouches sewn on somehow cause towards the latter parts of the feature and them movie itself, those shoulder straps are gone. Again, my guess
starburst
I always thought some of them wore the BlackHawk D.O.A.V in black in the movie like Sharp (I may be wrong) I thought Eric Bana's charactor Hoot wore this too but I do remember seeing pictures of him wearing a different setup. Other Detla wore chest rigs and alice gear so its not like the costume people didnt have different vests to choose from
Crandall
They're definitly not DOAV's. IIRC, they were custom makes by BHI, but I may be wrong.
starburst
I just found this site ericbana-archives.com and as Crandall said deffinatly not a DOAV. Loads of pictures of Hoot and shows hes deffinatly wearing armour with a vest over it with a chest rig, no idea if its a seperate vest and rig or they have been custom made so its one piece of kit. Also shows them using what looks like BHI Urban vests in the Delta boot camp Hope this helps to setup your gear
joker, the frickin ninja
I know for a fact that at the beginning he straps on something like this: So maybe wearing that under something like this or maybe even this in black would be a generally faithful recreation of what he wore? I am thinking three layers is a bit overkill.
Lithium Jack
Hence: I am really very sure it is the BHI Chest rig worn over some PT body armor. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> But no, no modular vests. Body armor and chest rig with fixed pouches should do it.
CapaciousZepher
Hence: But no, no modular vests. Body armor and chest rig with fixed pouches should do it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Exactly what I said at the start joker Cheers! - CapaciousZepher
Light Fighter
Bana is in fact wearing 3 different types of vest. First he is wearing black PT body armor. Second, he is wearing a black ABA vest with pouches removed in orded to keep his belt kit up. Finally, he is wearing an BHI .223 chest rig. http://www.spybroken.com/bana/pics/film/bhd/BHDdisk2_032.jpg In that photo, look at the velcro patch on his PT armor, you can see it starts to make a "V" shape. That is the ABA vest he is wearing.
rifleman
From some of the pictures, the vest appears to be the BHI urban assault vest and the chest rig appears to be the BHI .223 chest pouches. Urban Assault Vest .223 Chest Pouches
Light Fighter
It could be an urban assault vest with the pouches removed, but the UA vest and an ABA vest would look pretty much the same. Also, on the real operation it would have been an ABA vest.
Gene
It's a movie
thatguy
This: with this: Would be accurate enough. Remember its a MOVIE that utilized Blackhawk products almost exclusively, though said products didn't all exist at the time the actual event happened.
1cem4n
i think he should have worn a CIRAS anyways. just because but yeah, it's just a plate carrier with mag pouches. and of course, the american flag.
Light Fighter
Yes, it may be a movie, but the costume people had a lot of help with kitting out the actors. Many of the Delta guys wore empty ABA vests in order to keep their belt kit up as opposed to wearing the Y/H harness. Ever notice that Shughart wears an LBV over his PT armor, along with a chest rig? Many of the Rangers and even some of the Delta guys helped the prop department make sure the kit was correct.
bigcat
the Hoot and Shuhgart vest load outs are sold as sets by Laylax Shughart has the Black armor vest and OD chest rig Hoot has the Black armor vest , black chest rig and Assault vest. Dunno if that makes it more accurate but that seems those are the load outs that the Great minds at Laylax put together good luck to all, Rangers lead the way BHD is amazing. starburst
Was Shughart the Delta guy who survived the first crash and defended the crash site before the Eversman arrived and he got taken away by some guys in a little bird?
Light Fighter
No, that is Daniel Busch that is in the first blackhawk crash.
bigcat
He and gordon defended the 2nd crash site...shughart had the m14.
Light Fighter
Umm, who are you talking about? Daniel Busch was the only defender at the crash site of Wolcott's Super Six 1 until help arrived. Shughart and Gordon defended the Super Six 4 Mike Durant crash site.
bigcat
I am confused.. yes. You're correct Gordon and Shughart were defending Mike Durant. I belive that was the 2nd Crash, and Shughart was using an M14 in the film at least.
