AK & Variants Picture Thread

You guys are probably the best to ask about this.

How realistic, appearance wise, are the VFC line of AKS74's?

Id say as close as you're going to get, within confines of:

V3 mechbox making receiver slightly longer than real deal at the rear (ony real sword have tackled that)

AEG motor requiring a fatter pistol grip (all of them are stuck with that)

Traditional marui AK47 gearbox setting the pistol grip at slightly the wrong angle for a 74 (all bar maruis recently announced 74 are stuck with that)

things that could be changed

slightly simplified shape to the mag catch lever

wood isnt finished or laminated to same extent as the real one

cocking handle on aksu bolt carrier could be made the proper shape

things buyers probably wouldnt find acceptable on an AEG if they were modified to be closer to the real deal (without folks then going urgh thats a POS lol):

a bit too nice a finish on the metalwork

no proof or acceptance marks

no grindy horrible milling marks and dings on the trunnions

you can pull the bolt back with one finger :)

it doesnt smell like a real AK :D

I'll put it this way - with a bit of a ding or two to the paintwork, real grips and a mid cap inside a real mag shell I had difficulty telling mine apart from the deac sitting beside it unless I specifically looked at the pistol grip

Nice Hudson, corse RPK's are allowed

Got my box of MAG AKM mags from UNCOMPANY. it arrived SO quickly. paid for it monday night and it arived Thursday 3pm.

Anyway, the mags all feed well and fit in the magwell nicely. They feel solid, much stronger than CYMA AK mags.

Hope you like.

The one in your picture is an RPKS-74 in 5.45x39 btw :)

From our dear friend Stottman:

Here are two different versions. The top was made in 92. The 93 made version features a 4 position selector, a carry handle, flash hider, bakalite upper handguard, scope rail, and some other smaller differences.

cheers for that. let the sawing and filing commence :)

ok well the parts list should be pretty straight forward:

cyma ak74 as the base

ACM folding stock

ACM rpk front end

ACM RPK furniture

mod a TM gas block to be the AKM type

mod the reciever to have the RPK strengtheners (i have a elements metal receiver which i can use)

buy a RS rpk sight

probably use a rpk74 flash hider as i have one floating about

upgrade with element internals and a 6.04 tightbore.

figure out how to fit a large stick battery.

oh and i should be able to make the carry handle

anyone think of anything else?
