tom lawson
i was just thinking that someone needs to bring out a wood kit (ie foregrip + stock) for an l1a1 when it comes out, so you can go hot-fuzz!! that would be awesome!!!
appslapp
I upgraded mine whit SP110 spring 590mm KM barrel systema mangum motor right now I have only 8.4 battery because the stock isn't modefide yet..but the rof is very good anyway. I am on my way out in the woods right now to test it;) PS i just testfired the gun whit a 9.6v tape on to the stock in the pic
Hustie
*cough hicaps are gay for fal* Whew, no that I got that out.. Appslapp, what length motor does the FAL use? How hard is it to get to the gearbox? NICE looking FAL btw!
appslapp
the motor is middel lenght and the fnfal is 100% like a sigg550/551/552. but its not so hard to get to the mecbox
Hustie
Sigh...*goes to wgcshop to order new magnum motor*
DerMann
I don;t think most players put quite that importannce on a hicap mag whatever floats your boat though I would say a nice box of cheap midcaps might be nice to make them affordable to more players <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Seeing as the only midcaps available to us at the moment are $24, I'd much rather have to buy two high caps and be done. i was just thinking that someone needs to bring out a wood kit (ie foregrip + stock) for an l1a1 when it comes out, so you can go hot-fuzz!! that would be awesome!!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You could always buy the grips your self and jerry rig them yourself for 1/10 of the price... Hustie
Quick question, is the cylinderhead metal? AND OMFG!!! I CAN"T CHOOSE BETWEEN THIS OR A VFC AKS74U!!!! Sorry, I had to get that out, its driving me nuts..
DerMann
The cylinder head is not metal. If you plan on upgrading, I'd get the VFC, because it's just such a hassle to get into the gear box and get it back together it's not funny. I'd still prefer the FAL over the AKS74U, though, just cooler looking in my opinion.
Hustie
I plan on upgrading ALOT. Well, I'll go back into my corner now..
OverKiller93
I'm leaving mine stock if I get one. The only thing I might be adding is an RIS and scope rail, thats about it.
Hustie
Opposite than me then, if I got one I'd be shooting high enough to be marksmen because thats my role.
OverKiller93
Yeah, then you would want to go with the long version and get a scope mount, if you get the fps high enough. I just need the long version for woodland battles. Can't wait to get it!
DerMann
Just as advice, I'd think this scope mount: Would work best because it's a high mount and it'd allow you to use goggles and aim well at the same time. Even if you were super-stream lined goggles, it allows you to preserve your iron sights if you still want to use them. I think I'm going the path of the DMR as well. Not necessarilly the "legal" path (according to TASO, it has to be semi), but still it will server the same role. I've got a place where I can buy a surplus bipod for cheap, so that'll be even better. I'm going to get a tight bore as well when money becomes availible again. *Edit* Here's a link to the tapco website: http://www.tapco.com/catalog.aspx?id=268 You're probably going to have to buy both of those because the rail on the actual mount is STANAG and will not fit picatinny rails. *Edit No. 2* Does anyone know off the top of their heads what the length of the FAL barrel is so I can shop around for a tight bore? OverKiller93
550mm
DerMann
Grmblfck, Mad Bull doesn't make a 550mm barrel. Looks like I'll have to get teh 590mm one and it'll go into the flash hider (it's about 14cm, so it should be fine). I've never dealt with adding extra barrels, but couldn't I just hack saw part of it off? *edit* Actually, now that I measured it out, it probably won't even go into the vented area. Can someone with their FAL handy look into the barrel and see where it ends, because I'm still not sure.
ArronT
Can someone with their FAL handy look into the barrel and see where it ends, because I'm still not sure. According to photos, a 59cm barrel will certainly go into the vented area if original barrel is only 55cm.
DerMann
Many thanks for the pict ures, they're excatly what I needed. You have the same sling as I do If my math is right, it will extend about half-way into the slots, thus being visible. Once again, I pose my question, would it be possible to hack saw off about 4 cm off the 55cm tight bore? Would it damage the overall performance of the tightbore?
The Saint
You can cut inner barrels, just use a pipe cutter and don't forget to crown it afterwards.
uscmCorps
You can cut inner barrels, just use a pipe cutter and don't forget to crown it afterwards. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How do you crown a barrel?
DerMann
Forgive me for my ignorance, but what do you mean by crown?
ArronT
I plan on upgrading ALOT. Well, I'll go back into my corner now.. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you plan to do lots of upgrade, I'll suggest you to wait for STAR L1A1. It's 427 fps out of box and with only semiauto. Will save you lot of time.
ArronT
Forgive me for my ignorance, but what do you mean by crown? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just take a look at the tip of any airsoft inner barrel, there is an angle like trumpet. The angle will help air out of barrel smoothly and BBs will more stable, according to aerodynamics I think.
DerMann
How would I achieve this flare, just take screwdriver or something that's a tad bigger and force it in carefully?
The Saint
Take an exacto knife and shave the inner barrel at the exit. [] = barrel wall O = barrel opening This is what you get after shortening the barrel. []O[] <--Front. []O[] []O[] []O[] <--Rear/towards mechbox. This is what you get after crowning the barrel.
