The Original SaXoN
Can a battery have an odd number of cells ? and if so what will it effect ? I ask as I want to make a custom large battery for my G&P G36 stock that will alow it to retract all the way, which the G&P battery won't allow. Cheers
GuzziHero
Makes no difference. Look at 8.4v crane stock batteries which have 2 rows of 3, and one row of 1 battery. As long as they are all linked once in serial, you can have whatever number you like.
The Original SaXoN
Ah cool, thank you.
casey_cole
Each cell provides a voltage of 1.2V (normally) so 7 cells = 8.4V and 8 cells = 9.6V. Make sure you buy high quality cells capable of ~15 Amp discharge, with low internal resistance - or your pack won't work. CC
The Original SaXoN
Is there any way to get 9.6 out of 7 cells ? or would that be unadvisable in an AEG ?
Almighty
Is there any way to get 9.6 out of 7 cells ? or would that be unadvisable in an AEG ?<{POST_SNAPBACK}> A rechargeable cell can actually reach higher than 1.6+ volts when fully charged. At that voltage reading, a 7-cell pack may read 11.2-11.55 volts when not connected to a discharge load. Once a discharge load is connected, the voltage drops nearer to 1.2v per cell, or 8.4v total. The only way you could get 9.6v operating voltage.. is to add 1 cell more to make an 8-cell array.
GuzziHero
Another thing you may like to look at is Sub C short batteries. The standard size for Large packs is Sub-C, but some are available which are the same diameter, but 2/3rds the length. The ones I have are 2200mAh, more than enough for most folk. I dont know their specific type code though.
***Ice***
Guzzi mate, they're 2200mah 4/5th sub-C GoldPeak cells. Ice
