well im thinking about trying a spring sniper for the winter as my aeg is crappy in the cold....so what i would like to know is this. If i bought a hfc vsr 11 and put all the upgrades that i can into it would it perform the same as the mauri with the upgrades b/c it looks like the only things that stay stock are the outer barrel and the stock..or am i mistaken. +1 for help ;)

Thats basicaly correct,

ive got a HFC VSR11 sitting here, the stock has noticble seam lines, but is slightly heavier

all the parts compatible with a TM VSR are compatible with this.

Ive not looked at the hop unit yet will do that either later tonight after casino royal or another day.

Twiggs, if thats you, good luck getting through the sniper course for WYNAL with an uber-fast fps sniper rifle. the League is cracking down on anything faster than 400 pretty hard. If not, sorry, bad guess.

Id say (especially because its a clone, and you probly have to treat it a little more gently, upgrade-wise, partially because theres no foliage in winter) that upper 300s might be good enough for you. I cant say honestly thought, sniping is not my thing.

Hawkeye68 i currently own one of these and at the moment all i have had done is the piston weights removed, i chronoed it at my local site using .2's and it was giving a constant 340 fps with nothing else done to it , i got mine from www.airsoftscotland.com , i don't know were you will get yours over there in the usa but send this company a email and they should be able to help you out and possibly sugest upgrades best suited for this rifle. sorry i could not help out more, if i do get any thing done to my rifle i will post it in this forum

whats a piston weight?...lol i prbly might want to know these kinds of things if i want to get one

as far as i know it is a weight that is put on the piston to give it the 'real shock' kick, as far as i know removing them is easy as they are held in place by a pin and removing them also means you don't need to do it later as when i got my rifle i was informed that you need to remove them to allow you to do certain up-grades, just send airsoftscotland an e-mail explaining every thing and they should be more than willing to help you out

if you're thinking about getting a decent upgrade kit in it... and changing pretty much everything inside it etc the hfc one would be fine as you could just stick the tm vsr's aftermarket parts straight in. if you're going to high 300-400ish fps. i recommend you getting a new cylinder kit as it'll probably work out better with the whole cylinder kit (cylinder, cyl. head, guide rod, piston and possibly spring) they dont always do everything in a package but i'm sure you can find shops to mix and match with it.

EDIT: Before i start, its HFC USR-11

depends on where you look.

And the italic writing on the box can be interpreted either way.

But yeah, good starter, and if you are planning on upgrading it, then you can save some money because you will be throwing out all the nasty bits.

Iv got a USR-11 (or w/e!) and its completely compatable with TM parts. Its an exact clone (as good as) of a VSR realshock.

This means that it has zinc (i believe) weights around the piston to give it an extra kick. To compensate for this they put a 110 spring in as opposed to a 100 in the standard VSR, giving them the same power out of the box. This means that if ur willing to sacrifice the noise/kick (which you should, theyre hardly noticeable anyway) then you can remove these weights for a considerable boost in power. There's a great guide here:

www.geocities.com/drilltheshockweights

I'm not really one to mess around with internals too much but i did this successfully first try (thank god) and its definately worth it.

Mine's got a tightbore, barrel spacers and the weights removed and its a beast! Great accuracy and power! I used it for a while with only the weights removed and no other upgrades, even then it was incredibly accurate and easily powerful enought to be effective.

If you want even more fps then you could replace the trigger/piston sears and put in a more powerful spring.

This guns is easily as good as a TM VSR and definately worth the money! Only problem iv found is that you cant get custom stocks!

(got a bit carried away  )

Was going to check the hop unit last night but i couldnt get it out.

just a warning to people who screw the LAylax scope mount onto their rifles it would appear that the front screw if tighten to much will purtrude into the thread on the outerbarrel, which most people know, but on these the barrel metal seems to be soft enough to allow the screw to distort the metal shape, thus ive got a round dent in side the outer barrel, which thus blocks the hop unit from coming out.

just a heads up so either dont screw the front screw in, or file it down 2-3 mm before hand.

i'd also like to know what 130 spring it is exactly that managed to kick out 500fps. and on what ammo was it on?

(i know SP springs tend to mean laylax but are you sure it's 130?)

some use 150 springs to get just around 500, infact pretty much everyone uses 150 to get that fps on .20g

the reading on the chrono was very precise on 500. was it just an average reading? one of many readings?

the pic is kinda blurry and i cant make out what settings/mode it's on.

wow i've never imagined a 6.01 gives THAT much of a boost. i've noticed around 15fps boost from going to a 6.03 laylax barrel and using moly grease on the cylinder and its parts inside.

edit: from stock barrel and 150spring with mosquito cylinder, brass non bearing'd guide rod. dont remember what piston i put in it. most probably the mosquito one that came with the kit.

stock hop, non modified

Snap. I really want one of these now. I was gonna get me a sidearm for X-mas, but I can do without a pistol (I do have an excellent AEG) and now I'm gonna fork out 100$ (actually cheaper than a Hi-capa) to get this baby. I have always been very interested in sniping, the whole "one shot one kill" mentality.

A question, what kind of scope mounts do I need on this thing, links would be nice. I don't plan on getting a scope right away, no sense getting a scope if you CAN see what you CAN'T hit.

I'm an American by the way, so American links are preferred, I'm not shelling out extra cash to get some British/English (which ever you prefer XD) scope mounts.

Thank you.
