BigRedJ
i managed to break the clip thats hold the barrel in place, and the ICS hop is plastic, so i was considering changein to a nice metal one. So what can anyone reccomend a new one?
sk8erpunk1983
Just replace it with another ICS hop-up chamber, ICS has a great hop-up unit, unfortunately they break sometimes, but they are a good hop-up.
BigRedJ
yeah i'm allways fo the mind, if its plastic and breaks, go for a new metal one!
slacky
Ive used G+P, G+G and unknown brand. G+P would get my vote for the best bang vs buck.
PolarBear
Really? I was at the understanding, that only ICS hopup units work in the ICS m4. When mine broke, while waiting for my new one to arrive, I had a systema hopup lying around, metal, and tried to get it to work, didn't. So I tried to modify it to work, didn't work. Maybe I'm just a hardcore believer of "only ICS hopups work" and I'm not trying to be cheeky about it, but if you have a metal hopup working in your ICS m4, what brand. SlvrDragon50
You have to dremel/file some parts.. Really simple. I have a G&P Metal chamber in mine but I broke my gun so I really cant say how well it works. I would suggest getting a prometheus strike chamber though.
cazboab
You have to dremel/file some parts.. Really simple. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Any idea which parts and how? I'd always been under the impression that the ICS hop had a longer feed tube than any on the other M16 hops I've seen. Could you recommend a Dremel bit or file to stretch it out? SlvrDragon50
No no no no.. Thats not what I meant. No matter what other hop up chamber you put in, you will need to modify the chamber. I suggest the prometheus strike chamber because it is the best you can get right now but the only store I know that has them is WGC and I believe they are out of stock. Jonathan
it does have a longer feed tube. I just had to yank a systema one out of my M4 because it would dry fire unless you use certain mags. Best to stick with the original.
SlvrDragon50
Certain mags would mean mags other than ICS mags and ICS mags arent exactly the best.
cazboab
They work fine for me and all the other players I know who use them.
SlvrDragon50
They do work fine but there are better mags. And low caps and mid caps are nicer
DieGuitarre
ICS hop-ups are very good. Stick with them. They click into each position and hold that position, throw in a new bucking and a big-out H-Hop and your good to go.
BigRedJ
and a big-out H-Hop and your good to go. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> a what?
slacky
a what? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The nib, or bucking, instead of being solid has a cut out in theory helping the hop rubber contact the upper opposing edges of the BB and resulting in a straighter flight. lethal205
Also, when I installed my G&P hop up into my CA m15 I suffered major air leaks between the air nozzle and the hop up until I installed the G&P metal nozzle as well.
The Reptile House
I'm not scared of modification to fit, i've just fitted the CASV set and that was MAJOR to fit! I'd like to see how it looks with the CASV. Any pics? Also, the spring on the outside of ICS M4 hop that I presume acts as a sort of buffer? Can I live without it as I've just mangled mine putting the inner barrel back in.
Windibob
I too have broken that little plastic "C" clip that holds the chamber on and went through the same process that you are and when most people told me that the ICS AR series hop was one of the best, i found out that Zero One can get hold of ANY replacement part from ICS. It may not nescessarily mangled said spring but not completely. Although it doesnt work properly, it does work, but as long as you have a part number, you can give Zero One a call and get a replacement. I got a replacement

It may not necessarily be on their website, but f you give them a call, they can definitely get hold of one for you. And dont be worried about cost, it'll cost more to get it to you than to actually buy it!. And I have also mangled said spring but not completely. Although it doesn't work properly, it does work, but as long as you have a part number, you can get a replacement. Edit: You don't NEED a part number, you're alright as long as you can describe well enough what it is that you want.

Windibob
At first I didn't even realise that I had f^#ked the first post, and after the second, my net went down. And i don't know if you realised the time of my second post, but I wasn't about to stay up untill it came back on.
