Slug Pellets
If it wasn't for the railed frame & lack of markings I'd probably pick one up.
suck eggs boy
If it wasn't for the railed frame & lack of markings I'd probably pick one up. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Most likely they will release a version with trades, as they did with the P226. Looks sweet!
RSP1
P229 with a rail.. ruins it for me.
otherrandomhero
I've seen this before, but it;s absolutely killing me because i can't remember where (not on this site). Anyways, neat looking gun, but that long rail just kind of kills it imo.
CobaltSky
Yeah. I definatly prefer my pistols without rails.
fal
that rail is hideous.
TerranCmdr
Agreed, looks bad with the rail. It's a KJ as well so it probably leaks. =/
Gene
Is it a KJW copy of an HFC design? Please no!
Munitions Man
No its a Stti design
Rob15
Actually, if it is a copy of the HFC P229 (don't know about the STTI (same thing maybe?)) Then its actually a copy of the KWC design, so there
Munitions Man
well HFC, UTG, and I belive WELL are owned by leapers. KJ works and SRC are owned by Stti(spring time taiwan inc.). KWC Has some connection to leapers I think and as well does Stti. I think thats how it goes.
c_a_r_t_e_r_3_5
Definately, the rail kills it
pokethepope
does a RS p229 have the slide rails come out further than the slide? it looks pretty naff on the KJW 229.
Shao14
Tanaka did some P228 and P229 before. Is that a different design? http://www.wgcshop.com/WGC_Shop/images/tw_ps_p229hw.jpg http://www.wgcshop.com/WGC_Shop/images/tw_ps_sigp228.jpg These days, if someone wants to copy a sig, I'd think they'd go with the TM design. renegadecow
I have a fair reason to believe that the KJW P229 is but a truncated version of their P226. Its already a tried and tested platform as invented by Tokyo Marui and I doubt they would suddenly jump in design. Similarly, they did the same with their USPc (copy of Tanaka or Maruzen? can't remember) and when they came out with the USP .45, USP P10, USP tactical, they all shared the same internal mechanisms instead of having to copy different manufacturers of USPs. Shao14
That is my impression as well, but until I, or someone, get one can crack it open, it's all just speculations. Notice the trigger guard is the P226 shape, not P229 either, but it does seem they have shortened the grip to proper p229 size. One thing that I don't quite get is the UNco description says "Built Material: Metal Frame & ABS Plastic Grip", what exactly do they mean by frame and grip?
Rec
what exactly do they mean by frame and grip? Probably that part you can replace with 'rubber grips'
renegadecow
Yeah, the frame would be the lower receiver and the grips as the plastic panels themselves. And ditto on the frame itself looking more like a P226 than a P229, which only supports more speculation. I hope they release a version with trades too, just like they did with the P226. Wege
guys. I have seen images of a SIGARMS 229? 228? with NO markings whatsover on the slide. This is in the SIGARMS book by Mr Ayoob. So in some instances, not having slide markings can be rather real.
Lt.Fenix
We talked about this in some other thread before... but the new KJ p229's are copies of the newer p229's that actually have rails on them. Here's a link

They're handy for assassinations and such as they can't be traced.
Monk
Yeah, guns with no trades from factorys have a special name don't they? They're handy for assassinations and such as they can't be traced. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Why in the hell would an assassin care about trademarks? They don't use the trademarks to trace guns. No crime has been solved with one cop turning to another and saying, "Well, this must be the murder weapon; it's the only Colt in existence and it says so on the slide." What you're thinking of are guns without serial numbers, which have been shown to be just as effective as guns with serial numbers.
