Delfi
Hi all, Did any of you see 'Panorama' on BBC1 on Sunday? (For those of you that didn't it was about 3 Para in Afghanistan). Now, whilst it was nice to see an L96 there was an oddity. This gun carried by a 'native' had the full wood Dragunov SVD furniture and the long barrel ... apart from the huge capacity box mag (not drum) attached to it. This was the real steel ... anyone know what it is? I feel a project coming on D
Lobotomy Lobster
Have the BBC uploaded the programme onto the internet? It might help with the IDing. Personally I have no idea, though I suppose there's a chance it could be an RPK with a PSO or something stuck on it.
Hoppum
What did the receiver look like? The RPK and SVD have different bodies. Programme available here. Any idea when in the programme its shown?
Crispin1025
Not sure if it helps, but Russians have used RPK's as counter sniper weapons, they are reportedly VERY accurate when taken care of and used with good ammo. Cheers, Daniel
Hoppum
Is it this one? Thats an RPK.
Delfi
What did the receiver look like? The RPK and SVD have different bodies. Programme available here. Any idea when in the programme its shown? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nice find ... have a look at around 31:22 in the video you've suggested. It's a proper SVD as far as I can tell but I recall seeing it with a really bulky mag. D
Hoppum
That one? looks like a normal SVD to me.
Delfi
That one? looks like a normal SVD to me. I'm sure the guy turned around and I had a 'WTF is that?' moment. I'll watch the full clipped thing later to see if it was somewhere else. Is there any reason why a SVD couldn't be fitted with a large capacity mag? D
Ubar
yes, they dont make them for 7.62x54r which the SVD is, whereas the RPK is 7.62x39
PlasticMag
You could theoretically strap a PKM box on the bottom, but it wouldn't be able to feed.
