Airsoft Players webpage update: Airsoft players have got a few new bits and bobs up. They have a nice video of the (now very old) M1 Gas Carbine firing, in their media section. This is the model that ejected shells with each shot. A new section has been added for classified ads, not incredibly useful if you're in the UK, but I know I have a lot of readers over in the States so I thought I'd mention it anyway. If you're looking to sell equipment in the UK, I'd recommend going and using the Airsoft.org D_Boards, or the new auction site.

They have also added a 'Seller Rating System', for rating sellers of airsoft kit. There's a lot of well known retailers listed there, including RedWolf, DenTrinity, 747 Imports and Airsoft Shop, If you've had a good or bad experience with any retailer there, it's worth contributing to this rating system so that retailers who go out of their way to please you, the customer get the advertising they deserve. Equally, other airsoft players should be made aware of retailers that consistently perform below expected standards.

Ilendil's Airsoft Page updates: Ilendil's Page has been updated. Added today you'll find, a new quick reference card for TM AEG's, this attempts to quickly answer the frequently asked question: "Which airsoft AEG is best for me?".

Obviously there's no quick and easy answer, but the table found there should help your decision, as it quickly shows you the motor type, mechabox version, battery size/type, realism rating, power, and quality of each TM AEG with a quick comment on each.

The glossary page has been updated. If you are stuck on the meaning of an airsoft specific term, or are new to airsoft you could do worse than to go and have a look there. Go on, I bet you can't remember the correct meaning of the acronym "BDU".

WarGamer Shop domain change: On a quick note, WGC's shop - 'WarGamer Shop', have changed their domain name to http://shop.wargameclub.com/ - Time to update your bookmarks folks.

New page added to links: I have added 'Airgun Base' to my links section. I originally came across this website while looking for reviews for my m870 before I bought it. This is the only website I found, at that time, with a review of the m870 that was in english.

This is something I'd highly recommend doing, before you buy any airsoft kit - especially if you can't view it before purchase (i.e. if you are importing it from somewhere miles away, like HongKong).

At Airgun Base you'll find a good few reviews (some covering rare or obscure airsoft kit), a few articles covering airsoft topics, a picture section, and the obligatory links section. The site also covers matters such as air-guns and air-pistols.

Website updates around the world: There's been quite a few updates to webpages around the world today so I'll list them all starting with this:

Sci-Firearms M41a section updated: The new M41a PulseRifle section has been updated with new content including, the first 'How-To'. The new document by Tony Densley (a.k.a. Spellbinder99 from Replica Props) is a tutorial on how to accurately paint a M41-A Pulse Rifle.

This image was produced by Arnie's Airsoft - not Sci-Firearms. Click here to visit their site

The-Q-Project updates: The-Q-Project have recently been aquired by some venture capitalists, new orders were put on hold while the details we worked out. The basic changes are:

  • 'Ultra Custom' work will be called Q Tech
  • Q's administrative staff will be oversought by Pursuit Design LLC
  • Single item accessories will not be available on the shopcart system
  • Built-to-order packages will be assessed on a case-by-case basis

The gist of it is, that they've re-organised everything after consultation with their shareholders, to maximise their business potential. From a buyer's point of view, it means very little, other than the company are becoming bigger, better founded, and more reliable. If you want to read all the nitty gritty, have a look on their main page.

Wargamer shop updates: WGC have added prices for the new TM Samurai Edge (listed at the bottom of this page), and they've added prices for the reworked Marushin M870 shotguns (again mentioned below). There are no release dates there yet, but I'd expect them by the end of the month. Prices are as follows:

  • Maruzen M870 Grip Version USD179
  • Maruzen M870GV Shorty USD170
  • Marui SAMURAI EDGE Kai-C/S.E. USD200
Click here to visit WGC's shop

At those prices it's very tempting to get another M870 shotgun, maybe the short version as a 'pistol' backup... I just love urban tactics. =)

WGC have also added a few other new items, including:

  • KSC M11A1 Coming Soon
  • Marui P90 available on end of April USD240, Accept pre-order now ( Free battery for pre-order )
  • Western Arms Wilson Combat Championship USD190
  • Maruzen Pistol UZI USD110
  • First Factory Rail Mount Block for Laser or Flash Light USD78
  • Smokey's M4 Front Folding Sight USD80
  • CQB Weapon Type-0 " RAISEN " ( Kit Only ) USD210

The free battery offer for the P90 will be rather tempting for anyone planning on making a pre-order. Personally I'm not incredibly keen on the P90, but some people love them. - Then again, I love airsoft shotguns, and some people don't.

Sunday, April 8, 2001 7:38 PM

Well it's Sunday afternoon, and after a hard, long, and rather fun skirmish day at CombatSouth, I thought I'd update the news page while I build up the energy to tidy up all the muddy kit I dumped in the doorway downstairs...

RedWolf webpage update: The RedWolf website news section has been updated with more news and piccies on the TMP90, some belated info on the Maruzen Micro Uzi Type-U, and some information on the new KSC M11a1.

New 1911 Review over @ Springer Retreat: There's a new review of some rather nice springer pistols over at SR. Great if you're on a budget and/or need something to 'ping' around the house:

"...Dean Campbell has been good enough to send me his excellent TM/KWC 1911A1 Government spring pistol comparison review. It's in the reviews section right now. Looks like the KWC one takes the gold for now, but I'm still eagerly awaiting Mauri's new HG Hop-up 1911..."

Dentrinity Update: Just when I thought things were going slow today I notice new of a gas blow back MP5k in development from Maruzen, oh happy day! I also spotted over there:

  • Tanaka Smith & Wesson M36 Chief Special available in April 2001
  • IS Socom Silencer (foam inserted) with pouch in stock
  • ACOG NSN scope back in stock

Updates, and news on the 'Falcon': Sorry for the lack of news updates, but I've been out and about for the past 2 days, as I had to go and take my car (The 'Falcon') for it's annual MoT. On the bright side it passed; on the downside it seems that on the way back from the garage I've blown my cylinder-head gasket, either that or the engine water-jacket has corroded through. The basics of it is that the engine is currently burning coolant with the fuel. Needless the say, this is not a good thing, as the engine is rough as hell, and when the coolant gets too low the engine overheats.

It looks like I'll spend a lot of tomorrow taking my engine to bits to find out what has gone wrong. I have a very nasty feeling that this could spell the end for my much loved run-about.

Sci-Firearms M41a webpage update: The Sci-Firearms website section on the M41a has been updated:

"...The Accessories and Replicas sections of the M41-A Pulse Rifle Resource are now fully online. More updates will occur throughout the day, and throughout the week..."

There's also got some information from MFI on the new P90, go over to the main Sci-Firearms page to have a read.

Dentinity update: Den seem to having a flurry of new stock in at the moment. Adding to the new stock listed yesterday, Den have added some new items today, these include:

  • Carrot Sniper Grip for M16
  • KSC Ingram M11A1 - will be available in DEN Shop on 19th April 2001

RedWolf Updates: RedWolf Airsoft have added an article comparing the new Western Arms Wilson Combat to the, now withdrawn, WA CQB.

To be fair to Western Arms, they are both based on the original 1911 frame, so they will look remarkably similar, but that's where the similarities stop. The internals of the two pistols seem to have some remarkable differences. It just goes to show that WA really are the kings of the 1911 replica world. Have a read of the RW article here.

Oh... I really hope that it doesn't have that 'pink' shade to it, that is shown in some of the RW photos. I honestly think it's simply because they used a green background.

Sci-Firearms M41A page: SciFirearms have added a page dedicated to the PulseRifle (aka the M41A). This should become an invaluable resource for anyone attempting to create the working airsoft replica. You can now find information there including, reference books and comics, and a complete reference section. A new contacts and links page has also been added that specifically refer to the PulseRifle.

"...The first Sci-Fi Firearm model-specific section, dedicated to the M41-A Pulse Rifle has started to go online. For now, few of the areas are working, but I will be making updates throughout the week, until all sections are functional. You can visit the M41-A Pulse Rifle Resource by clicking the Pulse Rifle button to the left, or by clicking here. The are is designed to be viewed at 1024x768 or larger in Internet Explorer 5.5 ..."

Blackrain7 update: 'Stinger' has written an article for BlackRain7, about all the new equipment which will enter the airsoft world shortly, that includes the TM P90 details, plus details of the new products from Tanaka, Maruzen, KTW and WA. I have already covered most of it here in my news section, but if you want more information on the new offerings, you won't find a more comprehensive report.

SV Infinity 3.9" review @ Airsoft Players: There's a new review of the SV 3.9" from Western Arms over at AirsoftPlayers written by El Mariachi.

"...How does it shoot? The gun shoots with a hard kick for such a small package. It will fire as fast as you can pull the trigger. I have not had time to dial in the hop-up yet. The hop-up is adjusted by removing the slide and turning a small allen screw from underneath. Dialing it in is probably going to be a little time and gas consuming. The gun shoots at about 260fps or so with .2g bbs, using green gas..."

Excello Biodradable bb's a JOKE!: To those of you who haven't realised yet, the story about Excello's new line of bb's was a joke, constructed by myself, with support and help from OD, over at Squad-X-Airsoft. I'm sorry to say the the whole story was completely fabricated by myself. I am honored that so many people believed the story. I really thought that the quote from the CEO was going to far:

"We are pleased to announce the introduction of this remarkable product. Not only is it a remarkable chance discovery, but it brings to us new methods of high-velocity bird feeding." - CEO Excello

The very believable image to the left, of the bag of bb's, made from bird-seed, was actually constructed by myself in Adobe Photoshop, and was originally a picture of a bag of EXCEL bb's that I found over at Hatchet's Airsoft Page.

Read about the whole story here

As a webmaster of a news based website, I saw it as my honest duty to contribute to the day of dis-information that is known as "April Fools Day". I'm looking forward to creating next year's story already. =)

If you'd like to read the full story, have a read of this article. I wrote this to explain where everything came from, and what I did to make the story up. All of the emails sent to excello.cjb.net, have been deleted, and I'm shortly going to contact them via email with a quick explanation, a small apology from myself.

Sell your kit on the new Airsoft.org auction page here Sell your kit over at Airsoft.org: Airsoft.org is currently undergoing major refurbishment, the new forums went up some time ago, and are now running incredibly well. The latest offering from the guys over at airsoft.org, and a new part of the 'Big Scheme', is their new auctions page.

Travel in time over at Dentrinity!: Congratulations go out to Dentrinity who "last" updated their website on the 4th April 2001... Truly amazing (please note today's date). =) Now seriously, they've updated their website now to include several new items including:

  • New Maruzen M870 Grip Version & M870GV Shorty available on 7th April 2001
  • Tanaka Smith & Wesson M36 Chief Special available in April 2001
  • Carrot ORCA stock for APS

Oooh, more shotguns!

I'm a bit of a shotgun fan, so I've known about these new shotguns coming from Maruzen for a bit, it's still nice to see an image of the new models. I am very tempted to get the replacement pistol grip for my M870 shotgun.

I just recieved an email form Dentrinity about the release of the new TM P90. Here's the gist of it:

Dear P90 lover,
More and more news:
-P90 will use a EG1000 motor

MicroUzi review @ Florida Airsoft: A review by 'GHOST' of the Maruzen Micro Uzi has gone up over at Florida Airsoft. Here's a quote:

"...I knew I had to have this gun the minute I saw it sitting on the shelf that Athens Paintball loans out to Wombat of Airsoft Atlanta as a showroom. After all, how could I resist a product that says "TRY THIS ROWDY MACHINE PISTOL" right on the cover of the box?"

"Cheap, and kind to the environment"

New bio-degradeable BB's: A new type of airsoft BB has come onto the market today - The new bb's have better biodegrading characteristics than the popular Excel make, and are cheaper to produce. The chance discovery was made by a member of an MSAT Airsoft Team in Portland in the United States. At a recent skirmish the team member accidentally mixed up some unmarked bags of ammo, with the contents of birdseed bag by Excello that he had bought for his feeder at home.

"..I accidentally mixed the bags up and spent the whole day firing the wrong pellets. I had no idea I had used the 'Excello' bags as ammo until I got home and filled my feeder with Excel. - Then I realised what I had done..."

The manufacturer realised what they had come across, when they were contacted last week by a member of the team. This brings to the airsoft world a cheap, and highly biodegradable ammunition, that is kind to the environment. Excello found that their product "Red Siberian Millet" is almost identical to the famed EXCEL ammo, both in weight and size. Not only is it much cheaper, but it is safe to use at up to 550fps in AEG's.

"We are pleased to announce the introduction of this remarkable product. Not only is it a remarkable chance discovery, but it brings to us new methods of high-velocity bird feeding." - CEO Excello

The bags of ammo are now being imported into the UK at £1.50 a bag (2200 rounds/0.2g). Expect to find it available at your local retailer shortly.

New "Samurai Edge" Beretta: I'm sure I mentioned it before on here, but it's worth a mention again, as the images on the TM site are so nice. Tokyo Marui have launched the "Barry Burton Model" Samurai Edge Beretta.

The new gas blow-back from TM comes in a lovely custom metal presentation box, in a similar fashion to their other custom and limited edition GBB's.

The Samurai Edge comes with with two magazines, a low capacity one, and a hi-capacity similar to those found with the KSC Beretta M93r. The pistol also features a "match" style suppressor, and an extended lower rail for fitting standard equipment, such as lamps and lasers.

Technical manual update#2: I have now uploaded the technical manual for the Tokyo Marui MP5 A4/A5 and the AK47. As I mentioned before, and in the new articles, these images were not originally produced by myself, but have been reproduced with kind permission of AirsoftPlayers. I have merely recompressed them, to make them more portable, and then produced the page (in my own style) with thumbnailed images and links.

Technical manual update: "Pikachoad" over at AirsoftPlayers, has kindly given me permission to host relevant copies of the technical manuals here on my site, so I'll shortly be adding the TM AK47 and the MP5 Technical Manual, to the list of documents on this website.
