Saturday, December 23, 2000 1:46 PM This will probably be my last post this side of Christmas, and possibly until the new year. I've finally got myself listed at Yahoo under a category -you can find us here. Until the next post:
Have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year, from all here at Arnie'sAirsoft.
Tuesday, December 19, 2000 2:28 AM I've put a page up on my SG1 page, about the Systema FTK that I fitted to my rifle. Hopefully it will be useful for anyone else who attempts a similar upgrade. You can find the new page here. Arnie
Monday, December 18, 2000 11:32 PM The links section is currently being gradually expanded, we hope to get a comprehensive list of suppliers in the UK. Oh, and a note to anyone who is going to fit a Systema FTK to a G3 gearbox. I had to get a little help from a friend of mine (Mike). The assembly was fairly easy, and took about 2 hours from start to finish. The problem was that the gear that meshes with the piston was caught on a casting protrusion on the gearbox outer casing beside the nylon trigger parts. I don't know if this is a generic flaw/feature, but it's one to watch for. My recommendation is that if anyone puts a gearbox together, make sure that the gears turn freely without the piston in. Oh, and 'beware the piston spring' for it hurts like a bitch when it gets loose and fires out the back of the gearbox (then hits your mate on his head). I'll get some nice images of the gearbox internals when we get Drew's LSW to bits next. Arnie
Monday, December 18, 2000 06:16 PM Well it's only a few days till Christmas now, wahey! Drew and I got the parts we wanted. We now have two fully upgraded G3 frame HK rifles that really rock... My poor little stock aeg, is now pushing the 1 Joule limit after I fitted the System UK Pro FTK. The SG1 now has an awesome range, as anyone was attacking the hill at CS could probably tell last Sunday=). I managed to get 12 mags use with my 8.4v 3000mAh battery, then got reduced to my M93r for the last game. Arnie
Friday, December 15, 2000 4:14 AM Well today we are off to AirsoftUK to get some parts for Drew's LSW, and my SG1. Drew stripped his second set of gears, so needs some replacements. I'm after a tighter barrel, and a whole upgrade of the guts, to increase accuracy and power.... Hopefully we'll be having some really good fun at Combat South this weekend =) . Arnie
Friday, December 15, 2000 3:56 AM Well went into town today and picked up a copy of Eidos' "Project I.G.I.".... It's actually a game that requires thought and planning - simply going in guns blazing doesn't help. Checkout their website, they have some screenshots and info for it there. We got our copy from HMV, for £29.99. In-between site updates and work, I think you can probably guess what we'll be playing. I'll bung some screenshots on the site when I get a chance. Arnie
Wednesday, December 13, 2000 8:01 PM I've got another 2 rifles to put up onto the site, so I'm going to make a decision over the next 5 1/2 weeks as to which one to put at the top of the reviews page. I shall take votes from all visitors to the site as to which to put up. The voting slips will be counted, then recounted, then recounted..... until everyone is thoroughly confused upon the subject. I'll then choose one by tossing a coin. Through the entire process I shall be consulting the overly-paid lawyers representing each rifle. Oh and as a side note - Congratulations go to the US for finally finding a President, apparently he was hiding down the back of a sofa in Iowa.
Wednesday, December 13, 2000 5:02 AM Right, after this evening's major mess-up courtesy of BT, I have moved everything to my Soton site. Please still use the address http://arniesairsoft.cjb.net as this should dynamically forward you, wherever I put the site. Most things should work fine. I've added the images for the MC51 to the reviews page, and I've added a page of images of the MP5k, the review will come later, when I get the time to write it. If you find a dead link, please report it to me. Arnie
Wednesday, December 13, 2000 4:29 AM Firstly, please forgive me, this ain't a normal, happy post from me... I'm running this website on BT, and I'm appalled at their service. I've had the site up for a month, and had it here seriously for about a week.... and I've had 3 days downtime on it. This just is not good enough. I'm currently sitting here moving all the files to a mirror site, which I hope will be much better. It's my Uni account, so it should be much faster, although it'll prolly by shrouded in bureaucracy... Sorry for this folks. If anyone has any recommendations for a decent server fro the website, I'd love to hear about it. Arnie
Monday, December 11, 2000 6:34 PM I've added a page for one of my favourite bits of software: DigiGuide. It's a TV/Radio/Satellite and Cable listing guide. It's intelligent, and has the ability to do smart searches, for things such as Films and comedy series. Have a look - I'd recommend downloading it and having a go with it. If you like it buy it , it's only £4.99 a year, if you don't like it, you don't loose anything.
Monday, December 11, 2000 2:24 AM And the award this month for the insanely mad website goes to: JesusChristSuperstore.net . It's not Airsoft, but quite frankly it's so weird it deserves a mention.
Sunday, December 10, 2000 10:08 PM I have added the M41a Pulse Rifle to the Projects page. I had one person ask me if they could use my designs to build their own version. I have no problem with people using the designs there. All I ask is that you give me credit for the original design, and email me with any relevant information that you gather from the project. Decent images for the website would be great, either scanned photos or digital photos are fine. Oh... and tell your friends about this site. =)
Sunday, December 10, 2000 1:32 PM Good news! Mike's AK47 to AK74 conversion has been finished. It's a truly amazing piece of work. It looks much better than Wolf Armouries' pathetic attempt, that they are trying to sell for £1200. We'll get some images up for it, as soon as I can. I would recommend that anyone who decides to build one goes down the gym, the new AK weighs a ton; we will definitely not be swinging it with one hand (unless it's over&onto "bullet-proof Bob's" head). I'm working on all areas of the site, so to any frequent visitors out there (all two of you), you'll notice some changes.
Saturday, December 9, 2000 4:00 AM IMPORTANT there has been a domain name change... I am now at http://www.arniesairsoft.btinternet.co.uk . The main forwarder is still http://arniesairsoft.cjb.net . I'd recommend keeping a bookmark for both addresses in case cjb.net goes down. The domains shouldn't change for the foreseeable future, and I hope that the site settles into its nice new home.
Saturday, December 9, 2000 3:39 AM I'm currently playing with the layout and style of the outer frame of the site. It's done in layers, but I don't know how many browsers support them... I may just change it to something I like more later. On the main page I have put two links; one is the 'in-development' high bandwidth site. The other is the 'low-bandwidth' site. Personally I prefer the 'low-bandwidth' link, as it loads much faster. Please bear with me as I continue to update the site.
Friday, December 8, 2000 10:47 PM Is anyone a fan of the Ridley Scott/HR Giger 'Alien' films ? If so you may be interested in the replica of a M41A Pulse Rifle. It was mentioned on the airsoft d-boards, but I thought it was worth a mention here. For the uninitiated, the rifle is an automatic rifle, with an underslung grenade launcher. The basic contents are a M1A1 'Tommy gun', with the parts from a Remington shotgun, and a Spas 12, strapped under it. I'd really recommend checking this site out at GemProductions , at the very least it proves what a little time and patience can produce. If I ever get the time and money I may try to build my own airsoft version.
Tuesday, December 5, 2000 7:01 AM I have had an online Airsoft retailer recommended to me by a friend in the States. AirsoftShop is based in HongKong, and ship around the world. They accept PayPal, and other forms of payment, with either a low, or no surcharge. I am shortly going to put an order their way, so I will be able to give a personal view on their services then.
Saturday, December 2, 2000 3:39 AM The more observant people out there will notice I currently have 2 counters on the nav-bar. I am testing 2 different methods of collecting site statistics, sorry for any confusion.
Saturday, December 2, 2000 0:19 AM If anyone out there is bothered, I'm interested in people's opinions on the currently available bolt action sniper rifles, particularly the SunProject M40A1, the APS2sv, and the Socom M24. I'm concerned mainly with reliability, accuracy, and range. If you have a sniper rifle that you are particularly proud of I'd like to hear about it.
Saturday, December 2, 2000 0:06 AM Well it's December already... So don't expect loads of work to be done on the site, at least for the next 2 weeks or so. Having said that, we have the following rifles that we want to review: MP5K, AK74 Smokey's Kit, Marui M1A Carbine (gas model), and SykoBika's LSW rifle, (I can't remember the name, but it's mainly built from a Marui SG1).
Saturday, December 2, 2000 0:00 AM I've moved last month's news to a separate page, you can find November's news here.
