TM AK47 Review - This review is one of the many that I've been desperate to get online for ages. Thanks to Inferno, (you can find his website here) this review is now finally online. Inferno saved me a whole bunch of work, and wrote all the core text of the review for me, I've just done my usual with it (the images/editing/publishing).

Many thanks go out to Inferno for this one, if you don't know Inferno, have a read of his website - he's famous for his custom work with Tokyo Marui AK's, and his undying fetish for the Marui M3 Shotgun.

I'll make these updates quick, as I'm meant to be doing other things at the moment;

SciFirearms updates: There's been a host of new updates at one of my favourite websites: SciFirearms, run by Kurtis Harris.

Updates there include news of RW selling the EBB DesertEagle, and of a replica Lawgiver (I may have mentioned that here before.. oh well)

You'll also notice that the SF PulseRifle Page has been updated. Updates include, images, new links, and some photos. It's not quite Airsoft, but it make's good reading none the less.

Click here to visit the Sci-Firearms website

Dentrinity updates : Den have released a couple of new CL custom Airsoft replicas for sale. At the top of their specials section you'll now find a new SR16SD, and a custom M40A1 sniper rifle. Both include the usual upgrades and refinements, check their 'specials' page for more details. Personally I'd go for the M40A1.. but it's far too expensive for me. Maybe some kind and generous soul at a well-known retailer will donate one to me for a site review, and some good advertising. (stranger things have happened.. and I think that list includes the Roswell crash, Area51, and rogue Elvis sightings)

Useful SWAT info resource: If your a true Milsim guru, or just interested in SWAT gear in general, there's a website that you should browse through, it goes by the name of SpecWarGear.com. The original news article was spotted over at FloridaAirsoft, so rather than retype it, here's a quote from FA-Lance:

"...I've found a cool site the other day called SpecWarGear.com that has all kinds of pictures and explanations about the equipment the special forces style military groups like the SEALs and Force Recon use. Be sure to check out the 'Gear', the 'Collectors', and the 'X-Files' sections for some of the best pictures. I don't know about you guys but I almost have my SEAL kit finished and this site has been a big help in finding out what kinda gear they use. ..."

SecurityArms update: I've just been informed by Tim Rollins @ SecurityArms that their site has been updated with a nice new feature. You'll now find that any item that's been added to the site within the past 30 days, is listed with a little 'new' logo next to it. To anyone who uses SecurityArms as a real-steel reference, you'll find this update invaluable, it used to really annoying to find that the site had been updated, but then that you couldn't find what had actually been added.

"Airsoft in Canada is NOT dead ... "

Review of Operation Thunder: There's a review of Operation Thunder up over at Airsoft Canada. The review is from the NATO side, there should be one up from the opposition's side (Serb) later. If anyone's looking for ideas for organising events for 100+ people, they could do worse than have a read of how this event went from a player's perspective.

"...As 10 o'clock rolled around all the Serb players were rounded up for their briefing. What was going on for the first mission, safety rules and such. This took about 10-15 minutes and then they were off to do their thing. As noon approached more and more NATO players arrived (let me say that I was really relieved because up to about 11-11:30 there weren't that many NATO players around). The offical turnout for the game was 102 players! I dare anyone to say that airsoft in Canada is dead..."

New AK47 sight mount: Not huge news, but possibly useful for anyone with an AK47: RedWolf have released for sale a replacement sight for the AK47 (apparently is also fits the MP5 too), that allows the mounting of sight optics. Fitting requires removal of the original stock sights. (RW mages used with permission) Click here to vist the RedWolf Airsoft website

Forums updates: The updated forums can now also be found on http://forums.arniesairsoft.cjb.net. The forums have been updated in the light of forums.airsoft.org being down for so long. I believe there's a call for a decent and stable UK forums area, so I've fleshed everything out a bit to try to give it a familiar feel. If anyone's got any more suggestions for it, email me.

For the forums to really take off, they'll need users, so if you like them, please spread the word about them. The forums aren't there to replace any other site-forums, just there as a service for you folks, who read these pages.

WolfArmouries closing date: I have received word from Mobius : the High Wycombe branch of WL is set to close at the end of June / early July. (The Wolf's Lair website, is part of WolfArmouries). I'd expect there to be a clearance sale as this date approaches, to allow them to shift some stock, to ease their move to London.

New website: I've spotted a new website, it's relatively new but is looking good, go and take a look at Planet Airsoft. You may just spot this site listed there. =)

"Gone to lunch": I'm going out, and won't be back for 48hours, so there won't be any major site updates (unless my computer develops it's own AI, and updates the news on it's own.. then tries to take over the world..).

Forums updates: I've done some tweaking to the forums page, and I've added a Classified Section, on request. You can use the new are in the forum to advertise anything airsoft related that is wanted or forsale. On a serious note, these forums are logged, and monitored, so any messing around will not be tolerated. Just play nice folks =) .

PulseRifle updates: I've updated the PulseRifle replica page, with CAD diagrams that I have been given kind permission to host by the author Martin Taylor (owner and webmaster of Wan-Obi Jedi's Amateur Prop Workshop). You can find them added to the PulseRifle page here, hopefully they'll be of some use to anyone attempting this project.

Wolf'sLair are moving: The location of new (Wolf Armouries) Wolf'sLair showroom, has been confirmed as: Royal College Street. Camden, London. The new location is 3 minutes away from Camden Road Train Station, and 15 minutes away from Camden Town Tube.

The new shop is in two parts, the front will be carrying brand NEW Airsoft equipment, such as T-shirts (full Oakley range of everything), the back carrys the airsoft replicas. Access to the back of the shop is limited to authorized customers only. They be closing the High Wycombe store ASAP, and the last week of opening will be a sale.

Where are you in the world? Heh - I'm curious, I occasionally have a read of my site traffic statistics, and of where the readers are in the world (you can find some of them at the bottom of this page). According to the site stats we have a regular reader who's resident somewhere near Iceland or Greenland (GMT -2). The site counter provides load of useless statistics you see....

Are you this person ? If so, please in contact with me, I'd love to know who you are, and how you found this website. Nothing sinister.. I'm just very curious, skirmishing on ice-glaciers must be great fun J.

???
Are you in Iceland?

AisoftPlayers G3 FTK fitting..: Anyone remember that G3 Systema FTK fitting guide that I mentioned that was up over at Airsoft Players? - Well Pikachoad has updated that article... not everything went as smoothly as expected when he used his newly upgraded AEG. Go and have a read here. It brings back painful memories of Sykobika's HK21, that kept spitting gears.

Newspage split: Again, to conserve page size and download speed I've split this month's news page into two (reduced the page from a 22sec download to an 8 sec download). You can find the old news linked at the bottom of the page, and here.

Have your dreams come true? .. click here to find out
Expected price is around 22,800 Yen, which is roughly 130UKP, or 185USD.
If you are feeling really lazy, you can get the translated article here.

New pistol on it's way from WesternArms: There's a new pistol up on the WesternArms homepage - the Prokiller Mark2.. and for the first time ever WesternArms have produced a full-auto SV Infinity! Erm.. yes you did read that right - a fully-automatic 1911 airsoft replica, and it's built by WA! (You can find the full WA article here)

The ProKiller Mark2 has a listed sales date of June 15th, and the power is expected to be 0.8J (this is an estimate at this time with 134a Gas).

WA have also adopted some rather cunning tactics to increase performance. This new replica utilises the standard 5" WA frame design, but sports a 3.9" slide, thus there's less weight to blowback, hence better blowback, and a faster rate-of-fire.

On the right side of the pistol-grip, where you'd expect to find the safety switch (on a standard SV Infinity), you'll now find the fire-select switch, which allows you to easily change from full-auto to semi.

Full specifications are listed as:

  • Color : Black
  • Total length : 222.5mm
  • Barrel length : 120.5mm
  • Weight : 955g
  • Ammo Capacity : 30 + 1
  • Variable HOPUP
  • R type magazine
  • 900 rounds per minute

There's a wealth of accessories planned, including an extended 52 round mag, a silencer (still in design), and a mount for the muzzle of the pistol, that has 20mm weaver rails fixed to all four sides. .... Damn now I've got another replica that I'll have to add to my ever increasing shopping list.

SectionVI Updates: Section6 have updated their website. New to the site (added 20/5/01) you'll find the following bits and pieces added:

  • TM G3SG1 review
  • TM Tactical Master review
  • Blackhawk Crossdraw Vest review
  • ...and a host of further information and pictures

Billy Bob Updates: BillyBob has updated his website, after more than a month of no updates. He's added news about a new store he's been to in Taiwan, the new offerings from WA, and information about attaching a sling mount to the front end of the TM P90.

Airsoft Online back up: Toxication (...the airsoft player previously known as Airsoft-Lord) has started the relaunch of his website. He's after reviews and site content, so if you are looking for someone to submit a review to you could do worse than have a chat with him.

Updates: Sorry for the lack of updates over the weekend, but it's been rather busy here, and I've just got back from this Sunday's CombatSouth skirmish... I'll fill in a few details later, but in short, I'd like to say that Maruzen APS Grandmaster ammunition, is amazing. I went through about 250 rounds of it today, and with the re-adjusted hop-up on the M24, you get a level, straight fight path, out to 100yards.

I haven't got a great deal of time spare, so here's the news in brief. I'll flesh out the news later with some more information and stories that I've seen/received.

Airsoft.org issues: UK readers may have noticed that airsoft.org is having a few problems with their sites (news.airsoft.org / forums.airsoft.org). I gather that they are currently moving the sites between servers, I haven't been told when they'll be back up.

RedWolf M11 Review: RedWolf have added a new review of the KSC M11a, you can find in on their site here.

"...The KSC M11A1 is a must for any serious gas blowback machine gun fan. While we ... have always believed that the KSC TMP was difficult to match in terms of feel, reliability, and power, KSC has proved us wrong by giving us the M11A1! ..."

M93r Disassembly instructions: The man-with-the-scanner has come through again. Mobius (Matt) has sent me an article that covers the complete disassembly of the KSC M93r. I've now put this article, which covers 5 pages, on the M93r Technical page.

Please be aware, the instructions cover a task that is NOT for the faint hearted, so please consider these instructions advice if you need to fix/upgrade your pistol... I don't want to be responsible for anyone trashing their pistol. For those of you who can't quite follow that, it's my attempt at a disclaimer - just don't blame me if it all goes pair-shaped.

If you drop your M93r hard enough on the floor, after many hours of picking up the tiny pieces you should end up with a heap like this.

G3 Metal body: We took receipt of a new ClassicArmy metal body for Sykobika's G3/HK21 2 days ago.. and rather eagerly I fitted the new metal receiver last night. It was an easy process (well it was for me, but I've had a fair bit of experiance taking G3's to bits), and I only had a couple of minor glitches along the way. Suffice to say.. the G3 metal body is gorgeous, and worth every penny.

As usual, I'll write a small article and put it up with some images, but that won't be written for a bit.

New U.P.Grade up! Lyn has just sent me the new installment of the U.P.Grade cartoon, it's entitled 'Enema at the Gates', again it's a brilliant piece of work. You can find it as ususal on it's own page here, or under the articles section.

Tuesday, May 15, 2001 11:30 PM

News update: Again it appears that I have been a bit to eager, and not checked everything 100% before I published it... StarWars was originally screened in 1977... not 1979.. thanks Neil. (yup he's the..ahem.. nutter from AirsoftScotland =)

This pistol was used by Yugoslavian Fascists to assassinate King Alexander the second of Yugoslavia in Paris in 1934, the 7.63mm bullets piercing his double layer steel breastplate...see above pic.

Real steel info about the 'Broomhandle': Lyn, being the caring knowledgeable type that he is, has sent me some info about the previously mentioned (and affectionately named) 'Broomhandle'. I don't want to put up inaccurate information, so here's the full scoop:

"The designation Mauser 712 was a catalogue mumber in the Stoeger catalogue 1933 to 1938, Stoeger imported Mauser pistols into the USA for about $35. This designation was first used in a book called "System Mauser" and has stuck.

The official factory designation was "Mauser Schnellfeuer, System Westinger". The model uses the old Marushin Cap powered blowback model which was full-auto and fired at a terrific rate spitting dangerously heavy brass shells all over."

Systema FTK fitting guide @ AirsoftPlayers: If you are looking for information, or possibly some guidance, on fitting an FTK to a G3 receiver, then have a look at the new one that's over at Airsoft Players (I've got a bunch of articles here on the G3 too). One small thing I'd like to add to that AP FTK fitting article though.. he needs to add more silicon goo to the gears, yup definately more goo needed...
