Take my love, take my land,

Take me where I cannot stand...

On the moon of New Qinghai a small colony is clinging to its frontier existence. Originally claimed by Chinese explorers, they abandoned it after finding little of value. Years later a small settlement of farmers landed on the moon and set up the small township of Bad Apple. Unfortunately the Unification war resulted in many of the young men and women joining the fight and the war made the towns future fragile.

Then a few months ago prospectors came looking for mineral wealth and struck gold. The town then became centre of a gold rush and many strangers came looking for their stake. The lawmen started to become under pressure with fights between claimants, criminal gangs and the citizens of the town who resent all this outside interference.

The biggest and only truly successful mine in the area belongs to Boss Bibbosa. A hard man who works his miners relentlessly. Many don’t last days down the mines before exhaustion succumbs them, or accidents take their toll. The Boss never has issue finding new recruits though as there’s always someone looking for their share in the success.

Town Mayor, Richard Ulysses Smith, has been widely regarded by the ordinary folk of the town, however his failure to control the gangs and look after the townsfolk’s interests in the gold business, has brought him criticism. The town Sheriff has recently brought evidence before the town council, that Mayor Smith has been accepting bribes from local mobsters. Mayor Smith has rigorously denied these allegations, but has since decided to step down in order to spend more time in his saloon, with his collection of vintage whiskeys.

Elections are coming and campaigns are starting. Prime candidates are the Sheriff and local businessman Honest Pete. Pete is famous for Destitute Pete’s Pawnbrokers where much trading is done within the town. Pete also lays ancestral claim to the land where Boss Bibbosa has established his mine.

A small federal outpost lies on the outskirts of town, set up to combat recent plague outbreaks. It has some very good Alliance medical technicians manning it. Also the Federal Police use the centre as a base for their local section.

How it will work

Previously we assigned players to teams prior to the event, however this time we will be experimenting with a different model. Certain key characters will be pre-assigned. These characters will be able to recruit ordinary townsfolk to their ranks, either through natural leadership, nobility of their cause, or just through bribery and blackmail. Players will be free to sign up to these factions on the day as they see fit, or if they want take their chances on their own they can. Some factions may be allowed to recruit prior to the event so they have troops available from the outset.
