  1. I was going to post, but then I realised I was pretty much going to say word for word what I did before. :D

As MDK says, there's plenty of us about. Just report the post using the report feature, and wait for a staff member to close. It's our jobs and it won't kill anyone to wait an hour or so for a moderator to act.

    Thanks. :)

  2. Yep. After reading through it closely I concluded that I'd been misinformed as to the real steel discussion by well meaning but misinformed folks. Already apologised in the thread, so go there for the full details. Cheers. :)

  3. Well chaps, looks like it's my bad on this one.

I always own up when I've made a mistake, and I believe I have this time. :)

I had several folks telling me that there was real steel discussion occurring here, and I must confess, due partly to being at work and in a hurry, I closed it down with the intention of re-opening the thread with the offending content pulled at a later date.

Now that I've had time before work today to go through the thread at length, the only real steel discussion I can source is entirely fine. Pictures of real steel do not contravene the rules; though naturally this is an airsoft forum and the majority of content should be airsoft replicas (ie it's fine to have the odd real steel showing inspiration amongst all of the airsoft replicas, but let's not have this turn into milphotos, okay?).

Just to copy from the official rules so everyone is comfortable with them and we don't get this again:

Airsoft has natural links to the world of real firearms (commonly known as "Real-Steel"), and discussion of firearms is allowed to a point. The looks, weight, history, and operation of these firearms are normally valid topics of conversation, but ballistic effects are not. Basically, we want to avoid conversation that roams in to the arena of real ammunition and the performance of firearms in general. This is an Airsoft forum, not a real-steel forum. Let's keep it that way.

...And for my part I'll look before I leap, next time. :D

Anyway, re-opening this now. Cheers. :)

  4. If you are reading this you may have noticed that the old Article Comment has been removed, with all content filtered into appropriate review categories, or here, if in response to reviews.

There is still a need for some weeding out in this section, with reviews needing moving still. If you encounter any reviews please report them using the 'report' button with a quick explanation as to where they should go. This will make the chore of ensuring all threads are in their correct place much, much easier.

I hope you like and enjoy the new forum structure, and found it a bit easier to locate information than before. If you have any constructive feedback, please feel free to send me a PM - I'll happily consider anything which is viable and which will help keep this community one of the best on the internet.

    Thanks folks. :)

  5. I love mine, but I found the gearbox to perform poorly. The compression on it dropped rapidly within the first day's gaming too the 100fps mark with .2s, and the rate of fire was vastly inferior than the Cyma gearbox in my LC AMD-65. I bought mine from gunner and the rifle was chronoing at about the 310 mark before rapidly dropping in game.

Long story short, I had to carry out a field gearbox transplant. :D

I'm planning on replacing the piston and motor with parts I'll source in HK in July. Then, fingers crossed, it'll be good as gold. :)

  6. As has already been said, I fear that this might be the price of success. :)

The main issue with improving the infrastructure, of course, is that as this is a non-profit site, we rely on sponsership banners (and the past donations of those with an Arnaholic tag) to cover the server costs.

We don't really want to go down the route of subscription (I can appreciate, though, why other airsoft communities have been tempted to do this for the same reason), and we're not really in the business of slamming massive adverts across the forum to get an extra bit of revenue (there's nothing more irritating than massive banners left right and centre). Some motoring forums I frequent have taken to google sponsorship in each post, which frankly drives me up the wall. :)

I'll have a chat with Arnie and see if there's anything more we can do to improve the performance (I'm just the caretaker in his absences due to real life demands), but for now it might be a case of grinning and bearing delays and timeouts during peak traffic times. :)

  7. Feel free to do that.

Then feel free to watch your post count made into a negative value. :D

We don't tolerate spamming to get the 100 posts required; we're not going to let people desperate to get access to commercial sales ruin it for everyone else. If they just spam to get a 100 post count would be an irrelevant means of adding some level of security anyway.

If anyone thinks someone is spamming on a serial basis, feel free to use the 'report' button. That way we can pull posts and reset / make negative post counts (depending on how spiteful we're feeling :D)

  8. Hrm, I don't think it would be a significant area to warrant its own dedicated section, and I really don't feel comfortable allowing this in a public section of the forum. We imposed the 100 post rule to prevent members being ripped off by one post users and the like; I really don't want to give them a back door to doing more of it.

Anyway, let's see what sort of demand we get and work from there. If only a handful want it, it might be better to just use a thread somewhere everyone can access. :)

  9. The section would probably fall into one of the sales sections - presumably one in each, as it's unlikely that many players would wish to take part in a group buy involving for example, UK and US members. If there's sufficient demand I'd be happy to set something of this sort up.

Critically though, any sort of commercial action realy should be occuring within that section of the forum. I'm not comfortable with folks setting up group buys in, say general discussion, due to the possibility of folks scarpering on a group without paying, etc.
