If you talk about this
certainly is a nice upgrade, but the quality of the steel is yet to be seen, and the wood is also nice, but still solid, not laminated.
http://babelfish.yahoo.com/translate_url?d...TrUrl=Translate
I guess you can't ask for laminated wood and a retail price over 150$.
it is most definitely laminated. solid wood doesnt have that colour changing effect due to the many layers of wood. also the steel will probably be the same as on their current AK74M/105 series, which is apparently pretty good. besides, any steel is better than pot metal.

CYMA AK74M - 7/10 nice AEG but let down buy the plastic receiver
CYMA AK47 - 7/10 it's a copy of the TM and has all the downsides of the older types of TM models.
Again I'm not going to list all the CYMA models as they are all the same internals inside a different shell
by AK74M i assume you mean their old AK74? they're not all the same internals nowadays. their latest internals are pretty much fully upgraded out of the box (tightbore, metal bushings, metal spring guide, steel gears), nice shimming too. the newer ones are VFC clones, externally slightly better than Dboys, and with a steel stock latch.
-
it wouldnt be too bad if you refinished the wood. alternatively you could wait for the newer AKM to be released. VFC clone, good steel content and proper laminated wood
-
At least I know it has a decent finish that won't flake off from just a touch, and all the parts fit together properly, which is more than you can say for a lot of the clones floating around out there.
clones have impoved a lot, if i was offered a TM or one of the latest cymas for free i'd take the cyma without a moment's hesitation.
besides, if you're that paranoid about clones just buy another vastly superior high end brand. the TM was good when it was the only AK around, then other companies figured out that it's possible to make nicer replicas. everyone else has upped their game and left TM behind (this includes most clones now too IMO)
as for the FPS, skirmishing at 280 isnt unreasonable, but why would you actively choose to when you've got another 70 odd FPS to play with? better range, punches through foliage better etc. it wouldnt be so bad if by buying a TM you sacrificed internals for brilliant externals. but no. TM externals are frankly by todays standards quite cheap and nasty.
Thanks for letting me knowWhat is the difference between an AIM and an AIMS? Isn't an AIMS the one with the weird triangular(sp) folding stock?
yup. if an AK has 'S' in the name it means it has a folding stock
-
the romy is called an AIM btw
the current cyma is pretty good, they should be coming out with a much better model soon though.
-
So they make bakelite mags for 7.62 and 5.56?
no, there are bakelite mags fgor 7.62 and 5.45
only recent AKs have been chambered in .223, and nowadays bakelite mags arent made anymore.
-
TMs are overpriced for what you get. externally they feel cheap and nasty compared to the tonnes of better guns out there nowadays and internally, they're perfectly reliable as long as you dont touch the internals (and that means staying at about 280 fps), once you upgrade a TM its no more reliable than just about anything else so TM fanboys' claims of unmatched reliability are irrelevant. it was great for it's time but theres better out there now.
if you can afford it why not look into the likes of the realsword type 56?
edit: regarding the 9.6V battery, TMs are designed for low power, low ROF use. those cheap pot metal gears will hold up under a weak spring and 8.4V battery, but up the ROF or FPS and they're likely to fail. it's happened to 3 people i know.

The fake bakelite ones i have, but i'd rather have one that is more red on this one, if you look at the real-steel Rommy coathanger + furniture stock sets, they usually come with a very red Bakelite pistol grip, LCT does make a red one, but its a little redish-brown in its colour, the element one does appear more red, but there's no point choosing the Element if it looks really cheap and nasty.
ahhh, i see. you're going for the romy look then. the element ones have no bakelite style texture to them, it's just flat colour. your best bet IMO would be to get an LTC Bakelite one and dye it red or orange (shroomalistic did this to a couple of his)
that particular cyma is the better gun. i can't fault most current gen cymas i've seen out of the box internally.
-
he was talking about the pistol grip. LTC bakelite effect pistol grips look far nicer, the element brick red ones look pretty poor IMO.
-
Acorp how the hell did you make your MAG MAGs look so good? Guide please?
wood stain. personally i use varnish as the finish doesnt look as flat.

QUESTION;
I'm in between getting a new piercing, or a new tattoo. Should I get this piercing;
http://www.tamisclock.com/images/piercing4%20(Custom).jpg
Or this tattoo;
http://images.elfwood.com/art/k/a/karass/y....rZd.231030.jpg
Only really have the cash for one.
Ben.
i'd go for the tattoo. corset piercings just look weird IMO, not to mention uncomfortable.

one
damn nice looking shotgun too, shame about the single shot thing though
-
ebony? yeah, ebony grips would be great. you could always buy another set and stain/polish them to look like ebony.
-
good work but its not a kalashnikov
-
red-ish varnish looks good but looks a bit too dark to to spot on (same for that wood stain too), i'm waiting for some varnish to dry at the moment on a mag i've just done, might work better. i used red ink to create some colour variation and have gone over it with a clear/amber varnish to make it a bit more orange. looks good while it's wet but we'll have to see once it's dried i'll try to get hold of some orange ink too to mess about with colours a bit more.
anyhoo i'll chuck some pics of my refinished mags and my worn AKS74 up at some point when i have suitable lighting.
-
please buy another one and make an OC-14 jebus!
-
in his defense it's a pretty old pic
-
its a real steel grip designed to fit with underfolders.
-
you dont need to be registered mate. any age, you are allowed to paint it as you with as long as you skirmish (i believe the guideline is 3 times in a period OVER 2 months)
-
hey do yall think it would be cool if i completely sanded the RS 56-1 to a mirror finish (like what people do to glocks?) Like platinum AK's
like in this video at 1:09 ish
not really if i'm honest
not with a realsword, it wouldnt be so ad if it was a cheapo gun but i'd never do that to a RS
edit: plus it'd be a pain to get the blued finish off everywhere. you'd likely have lots of bits of finish left over and it'd look a mess. remember it's not painted so you cant just dunk it in paint stripper.
-
damn! my bad, VFC's typo keeps confusing me.
-
technically silencers were never really used on AK74s. the PBS1 was for 7.62 rifles (namely the AKM) and the PBS4 was designed for the AKSU and as such probably won't work on a longer barreled gun (seeing as how the AKSU already has an expansion chamber built onto the flash hider)
i've seen pics of ukrainians (i think) with silencers on AKS74s. they appeared to be generic, plain silencers though. that might be your best bet if you're not going for a russian impression.
-
Get some TMs or G&Ps they feed really nice if you take care of them.
i've had nothing but trouble from every G&P i've owned. sure they supposedly hold 150 rounds, but what good are 150 rounds when they misfeed every other shot.
-
thats the old cyma AK74M. the Dboys is superior to that.
this is the new one: http://rsov.com/index.php?target=products&...product_id=3230
better much internally and slightly better externally
edit: damn you plasticmag!

i dont think the solid upper matters too much, it doesnt stand out like the other parts.
shame about the AK74 HGs too, although it's overall undeniably a nicer offering than the current gun (which is still good)
