  1. One question....would the Unicorn AKM midcaps work in it? Their shading looks quite a bit more correct than the MAG AKM magazines.

i'm pretty sure they're just flat colour like the MAG ones. just get MAG and go over them with sandpaper and red varnish (Leaving prominent brush marks) they'll look more realistic than any stock mag will.

also i think the unicorn ones are 150 rounds and will therefore probably misfeed quite a bit (more than the MAG ones at least)

  2. yeah, shame about the trades. the trades on my AKS are for an '86 model, which is too late for a non sidemount with wood furniture :( oh well, its still sex in gun form.

nice AIMS eitherway, its screaming out for some wear and tear and RS handguards :)

  3. nice work but you should weather the sidemount more. you've weathered around the dimple and the mount is far more raised so should be very worn indeed.

i'd also recommend going over everything that you've left un weathered with a scotch brite pad. they weather slowly and allow better control over the effects so you can easily thin the paintwork rather than remove it entirely (i used this technique on my AKS74, thinned all of the paint and silvered raised areas.

also a bit of a shame you weathered around the dimple as its actually slightly recessed and would therefore receive LESS wear. wouldnt look so bad if you wore down the rest of the reciever a bit though.

  4. oddly enough semi-desert grassland was what i initially thought you'd had in mind.

should work great in the autumn though, desert DPM works brilliantly after all :)

airsoftaddict: buy RS grips, they should fit with little to no modding. might have to get them from the states (which may involve asking an arnies member or friend in the US if they could buy thema nd ship them to you if the shop doesnt send to the UK)

  5. OH NOES Look at those idiots with their stupid western styled AKs...

Oh wait, those are Russian troops.

i have been completely and utterly Owned.

who cares? they still look like *suitcase*. this is airsoft, we care about the appearance of our guns, soldiers dont. if bolting something onto their gun that will minutely increase their battlefield effectiveness or up their chances of survival at the cost of the the gun's appearance so be it. in the airsoft world it's not life or death, and thus we can afford to leave our AKs plain and pretty.

oh and after reading neo's posts i just had to fix your post ;)

    anyhoo, MOAR PICS! i'll start.

newly weathered VFC AKS74 (no sidemount), partizan suit, SMERSH rig, 1x RS converted izzy bakelite, 1x RS converted izzy plum and 2 east german bakelites :). hopefully sorting out my afghan kit and a tourniquet after pay day :D

scotch brite pads are great for weathering folks, very controllable and less scratchy that sandpaper or wire wool.

  6. i was about to past that. camera flash reflecting off the slide perhaps?

eitherway that is officially the manliest glock ever. even more so that my friend's M14. black M14, MASSIVE scope and a hello kitty sticker on the stock :P

  7. not soon enough <_<

and fishquatch, very nice work but it looks pretty damn ugly IMO. why not have a folding solid stock, like a certain sniper rifle has (i forget the name)? that'd look much more in keeping with the design

  8. I keep forgetting d-boys also make underfolders ;)

    -Matt

no they don't. i think it was just a misunderstanding on PM's part.

very nice jebus. you should see about bunging a bakelite (or at least bakelite effect) upper on that RPKS and a FAL or M249 carry handle. and of course a romy steel 5.45 40 rounder ;)

  9. he's talking about underfolders. clone underfolders = cyma AK47S etc. and the metal isnt great, it'll hold up fine unless it takes a fair bit of impact (my friend accidently knocked his old cyma against a tree and severed the stock hingey thing in half. then again most of the front sight block of that gun snapped off while i've seen many others with no trouble at all so it might just have been particularly dodgy metal in that case)

  10. I dont think anywhere in the UK sells RMW, but if you dont mind HK you could try the RMW site... I got my AKMS from there.

yeah. i think the RMW site would be your best bet. gunner always gets mixed reports, but i've never heard anything bad about ting (RMW)

  11. actually, the RMW and inok RPKs arent the same. the inok has no reciever reinforcements, while the RMW does (it was designed by ting, not just rebranded inok from the same factory like most RMW stuff)

and FW200: where did ting get his AMSU hider from when he posted pics of an AKMSU he'd done on RA?

i suppose theres nothing stopping you getting someone to make one for you. doc, dobey and candyman have done custom work for people. perhaps you should PM them jebus.

  12. the one on it is the one supplied with the guarder kit. I might try to source a RS one if I can find one in the UK.

why not get one from the states and have someone over there ship it to you? (since most shops wont ship to the UK)

Has anyone used the classic army rpk? I only ask as i does look quite tempting but i've heard the classic army AK range is not as good as others. The other option is an inokatsu kit which would come to about the same price. Any advice?

    Cheers

its nasty externally. ignore inok too, get the new RMW one. same build as inok only more realistic and IIRC cheaper.
