  1. Yeah thats what cameras are designed for so I see what you mean I always baby my stuff because if my body breaks I wont be taking pics for a few months untill I can get a new one
  2. Fingers crossed man, I hope everything comes back perfect.
  3. If they didnt, the TSA should of had to pay for it. Did your heart drop when you saw it fall haha?
  4. Haha oh ic, yeah in the US if you think smart you can easily find someone trying to pay for exspensive hours to get there next thing (I dont know what there called, like certificate or license) Haha sounds like a great photo oppourtunitiy!
  5. My brother is a pilot so it cost me nothing Honestly go to a college and any trainer would love to fly you around for a hour for $100-$200...Flying is pricey and they pay $100-$200 per hour to rent plane, and would love to have a hour payed for:P
  6. Here are some pics, all taken with a d300, the aerial pitt pictures were with a 50mm f1.4......and the last is a sigma 105mm f2.8 macro (the lens in the picture is the 50mm f1.4). The pittsburgh pics were taken out of an airplane:) Please check them out and comment www.flickr.com/photos/chrisjuliano Thanks!
  7. Just picked up a Tamron 17-50 f2.8 lens I have been eye'ing it up for a while so cant wait to get it in the mail :]
  8. Wow, some crazy stuff happens sometimes
  9. Sigma has 2 good macro lenses, the 50mm f2.8, and the 105mm f2.8. I personally do alot of insect macro so I needed the 105mm, its SO sharp, I love it, and you can pick one up for $400. I highly suggest it. And as for the 50mm f1.8, BUY IT, for $110(ish) shipped, you cannot beat the quality, and its f1.8 so great for portraits and low light.
  10. The d300 is AMAAAZING coming from someone who used a d40 for a year and a half. The features are so much more advanced, and professional, I love it. Oh yeah and the professional layout of buttons is so amazing, so easy and fast to be on manual mode and fly through apertures/iso, unlike the d40. I would for sure get the d300, but its going to be a little bit of a struggle coming up with enough for a d90.
  11. My brother is a pilot so he wanted to take me up to get some night city shots, and I just took my friends d300 (my d40 sucks at low light) and 50mm f1.4...Lots of night shots of pittsburgh! I will have them up in 1-2 days I was hopeing to get the d3, but I got to use the d300, no complaints though
  12. 42mm is not wide at all, its alot wider on a full frame body but still not to wide. 14mm on a d3 is CRAZY wide.
  13. Nice pics, yeah my d40 has lots of noise after 1000+ ISO. I was surprised to see how good the ISO is on my friends D3 at 6k.
  14. What was that shot with? Thats a pretty fast shutter speed so the ISO must of been pretty high.
  15. I wanna try that too! I saw a great idea in a magazine and wanna replicate it
  16. Very nice pics, I am aiming to get a d90 here pretty soon. Selling lots of airsoft stuff hopeing to get a decent amount saved up for one.
  17. Grats! I was playing with a d300 and a d3 while getting my senior pics done, so much fun The d3 with a 14-24 f2.8 lens is INSANE wide. Thanks Sean for the seniors pics you can check him out on his website or his flickr, his full name is Sean Scarmack (google it and it will come up first I think) Taken with a d3 and 24-70 f2.8 nikon lens, with sb-900 and sb800 (umbrellas setup to right and slightly behind in both generally)
  18. I use Photoshop CS4.. If thats how many shots it takes for you to produce the image you want, then do through that much, for me I usually do this, If I see a picture I wanna take, I usually think about composition, and come up with 1-2 really cool ways to take the picture, or ways to show off the focal point. So then I take 2-3 pictures of each composition, adjusting settings or angle to get how I want it. Then keep 1 of those image and edit it.
  19. Agreed, I am not argueing saying you guys are wrong.
  20. That sucks man, I hate when people do that :/ How much was ending bid?

  22. Some people do sports and need higher end cameras though which would not always be the cheapest body possible. But then again for a good telephoto they are around $1000. So most first time slr users wont wanna even spend $1400 on just a sports setup. If your doing landscape then a d40/rebel xti are more then enough, I love mine.
  23. Not really the cheapest body haha, The best body that fits your needs. For most people the d40/rebel xti are fitting.
  24. Well I researched for a long time, talked to lots of professionals, and went the lens route because the lenses are the most important part of the kit. One of my lenses was $850. On a $400ish Nikon D40 body. There isnt really any amazing "all purpose lenses" besides the 24-70 f2.8...but thats $2k and not really a all purpose lens.
