  1. you know those mounts were only produced in specific batches and shipped with the ACOGS. Outside of getting a real issued ACOG, your chances of aqcuiring an SA80 scope mount are next to zero.

  2. blah blah blah. I'm pretty sure that troops dont strip down their rifles before they paint them...

Yeah, because we would want our triggers, cocking handles, bolt assemblies, cheek rests, gas parts etc spray painted.

Seriously, dont comment on things you know nothing about.

  3. Dont get me wrong, im not slating your choice of gear, its just as a long term dropleg user i find your reasons for disliking them hard to swallow.

Have you tried double droplegs on one belt? i find using the left leg for ammo balances the pistol holster brilliantly.

  4. I've never owned an omega holster so i wouldnt know, but i do know that serpas and safarilands do not budge.

I've worn droplegs on multiple operational tours and never had one slip or come loose, regardless of how much I run. that's why I assume you haven't worn it correctly.

EDIT: i do like your kit though, brings a very unique look to airsoft.

  5. Umm, this is about the only decent shot i got of one of my modded handguards, Basrah circa 2007.

Nothing special, just a simple bolted on rail.

    EDIT: found another one

  6. Im hearing roumers that the acog has been dropped and procurement of a new combat scope for the SA80 is going to the elcan, aparently its a really ugly version (plus no airsoft copy yet)

the Acog was never "dropped" as it was a uor and was never supported in the first place. The Elcan is a long term replacement for the SUSAT. Our version is a fixed x4 mag with a piggy backed red dot, with throw arms levers for mounting.

It has a battery powered reticule in the main sight with various levels of brightness (pretty much turning it into a x4 red dot) which can be turned off. I dont know if this is standard with other Elcans as ive only seen a couple of variants but it works pretty well.

  7. Not forgetting that there are also minute variations that make a big difference. Eg, old 95s fade a lot faster (and differently) to current 95s.

Windproofs turn a completely different shade when faded again, tropics look different to begin with and fade into a strange tone all of their own.

There are a lot of small variations in DPM tone, A lot of repro stuff is a lot darker than issued stuff too.

Not worth thinking about IMO, it all looks cooler when its old anyway.

  8. yeah, read my review of the helmet in the link at my Signature.

As for the Camouflage, lots of patterns were tested, including Hybrid 6, which is the current pattern that all PECOC trial gear is being made in. The finaly camouflage is a 6 colour DPM made by Crye, which doesnt exist just yet.

EDIT: Ha ha that ebay link is a load of ######. That trial shirt is from the CT1 trial from 2006, when the trial pattern was a slightly washed out DPM. I have 3 of those shirts that i use for ranges and field work. I also have 2 pairs of trousers, 1 smock and 1 UBACS in the same washed out pattern, they are nothing special.

  9. Although you said before that no pics of the new Crye DPM pattern exist (and I aint asking) would it be reasonable to assume that in addition to the pattern change the trousers might incorporate other Crye features like the built in kneepads?

No, the clothing pattern (just to be clear, the CLOTHING, not the camo pattern, i know it will cause confusion to some) is pretty much locked down. Think ACU cut shirts and trousers, with removable foam pads. The new UBACS is nearly the same but with seamless shoulders and less pads.

  10. So, is the Mk7 infact an interim helmet so troops have adequate head protection thats more compatible with Osprey in the prone position and when PECOC is due to roll out in 2011 they'll be another issue of PECOC spec helmets? (I take it they've scrapped the Gentexy looking ones?)

Yes its an interim helmet, it is in fact the old UKSF counter terrorist helmet re marketed as a new helmet. The PECOC system (complete) will be issued in 2011, providing they dont get delayed too much (hint: they will).

Gentex ones were scrapped after they didnt meet the coverage requirements of the medical board, they were too high cut at the back.

  11. Hmm, temperate UBACs, OD died/Kyrlon'd Osprey, Lowas and modded Mich/Mk 7-alike for the British Army off to Korea look?

Nope, for that you'll need a pecoc Helmet/Armour and the new crye British multicam ;) (of which no pictures exist so dont ask)

  12. That is osprey assault (not technically osprey at all as it was a completely seperate design, just uses osprey plates) The first sets are rolling out now with the RIP currently going on. My Bn's A Coy have been issued their Mk7 and Osprey assault, i imagine i will get some pics back within a month or 2.
