I think Davedawg was thinking about having a NiMH battery inside the buffer tube ONLY. I had a couple of designs to try and work it out, but any of the cells that would fit in there don't have a high enough discharge rate to run an AEG well enough.

Tokyo Marui Colt M4A1: NYPD ESU Tactical Carbine
Guarder New Generation Colt M4A1 metal body
G&P M500 v. 1 foregrip modified to include LED navigation lights
G&G "Flexible" LE stock.
Guarder Aimpoint NB-13 + real-steel cantilever mount
STAR 300M backup iron sight
G&G single point sling plate + QR single point sling
This was my first ever AEG and has been turned into this. I modelled it after the NYPD ESU(Emergency Services Unit aka SWAT) rifles. Originally the ESU carried MP5-A5s with Surefire foregrips, but upgraded to M4s shortly after 9/11 and Homeland Security money started flowing in.
I modified the M500 foregrip to include the LED navigation lights that appear in the real-steel M500A.
At some point, i am going to crack the gearbox open again and high-speed the gearbox.
A&K S-System: Zombie Hunter
Bought a "broken" A&K S-System from a US retailer for $50. Upon receipt, the gun itself just clicked with a battery inserted. I took the gearbox apart and it turns out the anti-reversal latch was dislodged. Put it back in place, and it purrs like a kitten. Added a $10 LED flashlight (single 123A battery for light weight), a Guarder 1 x 30 red dot from my parts bin. Added some custom lettering and decals, and is now my girlfriend's Zombie Hunter.
M4 CASV: Modern Short Barreled Entry Carbine
Dboys CASV painted flat black
Dboys 10.5" outer barrel w/phantom flashhider
Dboys f/r iron sights
Dboys nylon pistol grip
Dboys Crane stock
Standard Gear M900 replica
Tokyo Marui M4A1 plastic body
SRC reinforced gearbox + shell
ICS switch
ICS copper bushings
Dboys motor
I bought a CASV body painted in tan from leejinwen and i'm currently turning it into my CQB entry gun. I was test fitting the gearbox into the body and now it's stuck. I'm too lazy to pull it out. Maybe next weekend it'll be finished. This is it's current progress.

Has anyone seen the "high-speed" version yet? I have yet to see anyone have it for sale.

A question reguading the battery. I would like to use a 9.6 in my upcoming purchase (thanks to this review) and saw someone mention the intellect 9.6 battery. I know that the compartment is going to be a tight fit, but will this fit and still allow me to adjust the stock at all? Thanks again guys!
Yeah. You can. I've got a 9.6 mini in my stock. If you put it in carefully, you will get the whole range of movement at all 6 positions for the stock. I just wish that they used a smaller fuse and/or more flexible wires. It's a bit of a pain in the *albatross* to be honest with you.

After you take it apart, there are 2 big springs attached to posts on the bottom, which i have pointed out using arrows. Pull these off (gently). Put the sight back together and enjoy having a zero'd replica. Now if only it would stop going through batteries like a drug addict on a binge...

Doesn't your neck get tired from all that stuff on your helmet??
-
Try hitting it from the other direction. Sometimes it's a one-way fit.

Grim - Tactical Tailor make a similar holster as seen Here - Can be bought from most places - Actually its a little differentHey Rainbow5ive how did u custom rig ur holster and which holster is it i like the look of that.
Grim
Grim, i had a fake MC thigh holster that i noticed was "modular" in that all the straps could be removed without actually cutting anything. It was a series of velcro closures and whatnot. In any case, i took all the thigh-rigging off and got some velcro and some nylon webbing that i had laying around and sewed some half-assed MOLLE straps on the back. I sewed them on on an angle so that the holster would be canted when mounted to my FSBE.
It isn't very stable and i'd only use it for display purposes and not for field use, as it bounces around a bit and the velcro isnt super-secure. If you're better at sewing/making tac gear try it, but buying some like kliskey is recommending is the better way for something if you wanted to have it be skirmishable.

replica Multicam Field shirt and pants
replica FSBE in Multicam with custom rigged MOLLE holster

How does one go about replacing the adjuster springs? I just purchased a Eotech 551 replica, and mine won't zero. The adjust knobs do move the reticle, but the range of adjustment just doesn't include the spot it needs to be (specifically the elevation knob). I found some threads that suggested placing electrical tape under the back of the sight, but I'd rather fix the sight rather than change the gun.
I imagine your sight is "too" high? What i did was i disassembled the whole thing. The key part is the bottom panel. Once you open that up, 2 springs will be vertically pushing up the board/wires loom. Take these 2 springs out. You'll notice that there is still some linear springiness, as there are more springs inside. Close everything back up and your reticle should now be adjustable.

It looks like it's sitting in one of Saddam's palaces that the US troops have requisitioned for bases. Very cool.

This is my collection as it stands today. It's a spare closet in the spare room which we have turned into a Library. My PC is right next to it, so you can actually almost see an Arnies page up.
Tokyo Marui M4A1
Tokyo Marui MP5-A5
HFC USR-11
Vega Force Company SCAR-L
Western Arms Para Ordnance P-14
KSC Glock 19
KSC USP Compact
This is the whole closet with my "other" collection.
This is my brand new baby. It's the US version, so no trades.

I was a little afraid of what the US version (non-trademarked) SCAR would look...now i'm not worried. That is FANTASTIC looking.

*sigh* i remember seeing them in stock once, shame i hated multicam at the time, im kicking myself now though!
Darkchild
I feel your pain. I had them pre-ordered about 3 years ago, before Ghost Recon made it famous. The Sales Rep (Liz?) from Crye actually called my house to tell me they were in stock.

Were did you get tan machinix gloves?
I would of gotten them if I knew..I got the original black with white lettering though
try Mechanix.com. I was looking there yesterday, they have the originals in CT.

I got the regular field set from ebaybanned and i have to say the quality compared to the real MC is really good. The only part i didn't like was the condura elbow and knee reinforcements looked a little more "peach" than dark earth. Any of those problems with your new sets? Also where'd u get them?

Ok my new Red Dot Scope arrived today along with my Nitro Vo AN/PEQ-2 and BeamFord outdoor type Laser.
I think he was referring to this.
The reason for it is the scope in front of the aimpoint is a replica night vision scope. This is done pretty commonly in night ops, though the aimpoint is usually placed in front of the night vision scope.

how do you get the money for those guns if you are a teenager!!?
Adults don't ask others about money.
how d'ya like my old avatar? wink.gif Good job I changed it, huh? easy now dude.Actually, I've had this avatar for a while. My FTP host went down for a little while. I used it on ASR for a while, and on here for a while too. According to my computer, it was created on December 26th 2004 and modified into it's current form on February 03, 2004.
Anyways, I have one of those Wall of Slats in my basement. It looks more professional looking than a pegboard, and the hardware used is pretty similar. I believe that you can pick it up at your local hardware store, probably in the storage
section. The purpose, besides for store displays is for storage in garages and basements. The same purpose as a pegboard, but more expensive.
*edit: evilhippy, i'm not trying to be annoying. I just wanted to point it out. you're one of the forum members that i respect.

How do you display your guns? In your room? basement? Workshop? How?
This is my bedroom, one of my bookcases:
This is a little diagram of what everything is. The only thing not pictured is my MP5.
