  1. G2a2tac.jpg

    My G2a2-sort-of-thingy from F.E.A.R.

No, it doesn't have a Cmag, and no, it won't ever have one. I've tried every Cmag by very manufacturer, and they all suck. Not to mention that the C-style mag used in F.E.A.R. is much smaller and slim-profile than the real steel or airsoft versions, and blah blah blah - I feel I got as close as I could with after-market parts and custom milled pieces. It's an SL8-inspired weapon, but certainly not held to any real-world standards. For instance, the gun is definitely a K-length from all the referrence pics I had, despite having 6 tiny vents in the handguard.

Anyway, it's a CA8-2 with G&P K handguard, custom milled flash hider and outer barrel, CA SL8 rail cut down to be just short of the handguard with extra rails cut into it. Internally, it has an M110, 455 madbull v2 inner barrel, firefly soft hop bucking, wired for deans, and the CA upgrades standard to the CA8, like air seal nozzle, aluminum piston head, etc...

Range is fantastic, it's one of my favorite skirmish weapons with some urban digi camo and a gasmask :D

    Ok, I don't actually have a gasmask...

  2. it's the CA top rail, that I cut down to size and cut more rails into. It's supposed to be that length - just short of the handguard from the referrence pics I was going from of the G2a2. I love the game FEAR, and the more I looked at it, the gun is clearly more of a K-length than 'E' or full size, even though the hanguard has 6 tiny vents in it - it's just a SL9-inspired weapon, but I wanted to get as close as I could (without using a C-mag - I have yet to find an airsoft C mag that works as advertised, and I've tried them all)

Other than that, it's got a G&P K kit on it, with a custom milled outer barrel and flash hider, with a sling hook and offset mount under the handguard.

Internally, it's wired for deans with an M110, firefly soft hop bucking and 455 v2 madbull tightbore, and CA's air seal nozzle and aluminum piston head. It's one of my favorite skirmish guns with some urban digi camo and a gasmask ;)

Ok, I don't actually have a gas mask...

  3. Sorry for posting 3 times in a row, but this time I have pics!

I love Sci-Fi freaky deaky looking guns, so in that spirit:

    my HK416:

    And my 2 CA8-2s (yes I have two - it's a long story):

    CA8s.jpg

    My G36s:

    G36tacs.jpg

and, if that's burning your eyes, here's a nice vanilla UMG for you:

    UMG.jpg

I'll gladly list parts/internals/take more pics if anyone wants.

  4. Ok, here are the CA8s for comparison:

    CA8s.jpg

And here is my AG36 w/ boxmag

    Ag36box.jpg

And the C, K, and AG together:

    G36tacs.jpg

If you're counting, yes that's 5 CA G36s... yes, I have a problem... I do skirmish them all, they are all upgraded by me, and I'll gladly list any parts, internals, or take more pics of whatever.

    Comments and feedback are welcome.

  5. Ok, you know me, I love Sci-Fi lookin freaky deaky guns, so....

    Here's my G2a2 thingy:

And here is my other CA8-2 (yes, I have two - I came by a second one through a trade, and I couldn't pass it up - gosh, I love this gun)

    CA8-2.jpg

    Here is my G36c - yes, I own a C

    Here is my K

sort of inspired by Screamin Weasel - here it is with quick-detach madbull halo

    hitting the pic limit...

  6. I second Screamin's suggestion for the KV battery stock. It's so easy to install and it allows all sorts of large-type batteries, not just the "custom" 9.6v battery that a lot of places sell with it as a package. I use normal 3600 mah large 9.6s and 8.4 in the three G36s I have wired up with one, and I love it...

speaking of, I really need to post some new pics...

  7. No, there's very little that's interchangeable between the KSC/KWA USP 45s and USPc's. The mags are not interchangeable, the blow back systems are not, the slide releases are not, the triggers are not - but the mag release and safetly I think are.

I have both, but I haven't tried the mag releases or safetys. Just eyeballing it though, they sure look to be the same.

  8. if you stick a full length foregrip (6 hole) on with a K-length outer barrel and K-style flashhider, does the hider come out of the foregrip about an inch or so?  A pic would be cool :)

Here's a CA36K with AG36 (roughly the same length as the fullsize handguard - actually about an inch longer)

  9. I'd like to kill this rumor once and for all. The CA8-2 comes with full auto capability right out of the box. It is a totally standard V3 gearbox, except that CA upgraded some of the parts for the stock config which is really, really nice.

So, even though there are no markings for it, YES, the CA8-2 FIRES FULL AUTO OUT OF THE BOX.

  10. All of the links above include the trigger switch as part of the wiring. All of them will need slight sanding/modding to fit in the VFC gearbox, but once in, they will solve the full auto problem. All of them will require a new selector plate, unless you move all the contacts and wires from the old VFC assembly over to the housing on the new one (but then you waste your pretty new low-res wires).

  11. I would suggest this to be used in conjunction with something like the Systema Trigger switch. It might or might not solve the full auto jamming issue, but I still think it's not safe to have that too-tight switch in there and replacing both parts is probably best.

When I installed the new switch, my gun stopped shooting in semi. Semi would fire full-auto, and Full Auto would fire full-auto. Replacing the cutoff lever should give me semi-fire capability back. I've got one ordered, I'll post my results.

  12. Holy ######, you guys are right - my semi-auto shoots full auto. I didn't even notice until just the other day. So, I log on here, and sure enough, here's a fix.

I'm going to order up a new cutoff lever right away. Thanks again guys.

  13. Yep, it'll fit - the gas block is exactly the same as on all the other CA36 series. It'll fit no problem.

Oh, and red locktite I believe is for metal-on-metal, while blue locktite isn't nearly as strong. If they used Red, they really didn't want you to get it off. Mine was not like that at all, so I wonder when they started...

  14. My CA8-2 was pretty tight, but it did come off with just a good twist. The gasblock that the outer barrel is screwed onto is full metal and very tough, give it some force, it'll unscrew. Make sure you have the handguard off, and a nice solid grip on your gas block. Remember to twist to the right - it's negative thread so a right-hand twist removes it.

I know CA locktites their flash hiders on, but the outer barrel on the CA8-2 shouldn't be. If yours is, then its the first one I've heard of being like that. If it is glued on, you'll be in for a very tough time. It's way too big for most of the usual methods, like boiling and soaking in acetone...

  15. Thanks Mav :D

Did I tell you I fell to the darkside and bought a 416? Pictures of that coming soon to the HK thread... though I'll be sure to include other HK goodness, as the 416s are getting a little too common over there...
