Overall, the quality of construction and the belt is spot on. I will warn that if you're of the larger persusasion along the midsection, you might find the corners to be a bit of a poke. The materials used are good quality, and asside from melting it down, I bet this would last you as long as you played airsoft and them some.

  2. What's the largest 9.6v battery that can be fit in the handguard of the Para version? What capacity and configuration? I'm going to ditch my 8.4v soon (after I see there are no problems with the upgrades I've put in it), and then put a 9.6v in it.

  3. bjorn, what mostfet are you using (who's design)? I've got one that I made off Gandalf's design (from airsoftmechanics.com). What's funny is that I noticed an error on his schematic that he didn't catch. While his production units have worked just fine, he drew the schematic wrong! :D Gandalf's a good guy, and I've dealt with Psypher as well. I don't think Psypher is allowing people to use his design, and I think someone else has taken over manufacturing them for him as he is working on a new project now.

  4. I'm assuming some people have put mosfets in their SAWs, are they easy to install? And what's the best way to put it in? Solder it straight on or use some Deans? I was looking at getting one from the guy on the classifieds (here)

I have his in my M4, and it works great. He was a bit hard to get in touch with (he was in Thailand or some such place). He's back now so you might have better luck getting in touch with him. I've gone to making my own mosfet units. Might I suggest if you're going to get one, to invest in one with active braking. Your motor and gearbox will thank you.

Oh, and as far as the switch goes. Mine did die (the button would stay depressed). I replaced it with this unit:

Of course, I ate the piston and gears on mine, so i haven't had too many chances to tell you about the switch yet. Evidently the stock gears aren't that strong.

  5. I picked these up for my M4 project that I've completed now. After a lot of abuse and after much ammo has been spent, I must say that these have worked flawlessly. I know some people have adverse feelings towards Element and other less expensive brands, but I must say these seemed very well constructed and have performed perfectly. If you're looking to pick up a set of these, GunnerAirsoft.Com has them for a great price.

  6. The nice guys at AirSplat were kind enough to send me a Systema Magnum motor for testing. These motors have been all the rage since their release last year, and appear to be the Holy Grail of motors for those with high FPS setups. I've often heard people say the ROF on these is quite nice as well, so I lets see how these claims shape up.

The construction overall is top notch and the quality of the materials is excellent for the most part. I have heard complaints about the materials used for the pinion, but I had no problems with it.

The test bed is as follows:

Classic Army M15A4 RIS early 2006 model

Specs: Madbull Tight Bore Barrel Guarder Hop Up Bucking Guarder Hop Up Unit Element Silent Cylinder and Piston Head Set Madbull Full Tooth Piston Madbull M1** Spring Mosfet with Active Braking 9.6v Intellect 1400 MAh NiMH Battery

With everything installed and the motor height adjusted the unit was tested for both rate of fire and trigger delay. As expected, the m1** spring just barely begins to show off the abilities of the Magnum motor. While it is benificial, the real bennifits will come from using a higher rated spring. After putting through several mags worth of ammo, clocking the rate of fire and delay, and two skirmishes, I removed the motor for review of it's physical durability. It fared well. With little to no wear, it looked near new with no damage to the pinion gear.

Rate of Fire clocked at 15.68 rounds per second.

Delay to first shot clocked at .062

Overall it's a great motor if you have the money and the system to warrant it's use.

If you want to see the full review with pictures and see how it fared aginst the Marui EG1000 and the Classic Army Torque Motor, then head on over to my website @ http://infectedairsoft.com or click here.

  7. I'm downgrading my 249 para to a stock marui spring to increase the rof. With that spring in, the hop up has NO effect. I know about the hop up being garbage out of the box and that I need to put a spacer in there so it pushes more on the rubber. Would it benefit me to put in a clear guarder hop up rubber in there instead of the stock one and fix the hop nub?
