  1. Did anyone try to put a new hop-up chamber in the R85? One member reported that G&P chamber didn't fit. What about the element hopup?...

I was able to replace the sector gear for a standard TM sector gear, the disassembly of the mechabox is quite easy. I am going to replace the piston and piston head today...

I fitted a systema hop up which is exactly the same as the G&P one from my SPR, was a tight fit but fitted nonetheless.

  2. can anyone tell me where i can get a star rail, or a detailed explanation on reducing the current rail, i want to know this so i can stick a susat on mine

Ah another one guilty of not reading all the tread :P

You can easily make the Star SUSAT fit on a 20mm rail.

All you need to do is remove the rail from the gun, turn it over and sandpaper the underneath of the V of the rail.

    Only takes about 5 minutes.

The Star SUSAT is $99 in HK, plus about $20 shipping. A bit easier to swallow than a hundred-odd quid.

It took me a couple of mins to find but I knew i'd seen it on here somewhere!

  3. Putting several thousand rounds through the ARMY R85 at a standard fps is very different to firing say 10 shots through one with a one joule spring an a 9.6v battery. Unless people follow the upgrade guide they can expect to start stripping pistons and gears.

That is to say, if i had one i wouldn't bother firing it untill i'd followed the safe one joule downgrade guide done by stealthbomber.

As for the cocking handles - couldn't you tap a hole in the cocking handle and fit a screw into it throught the plate?

I totally agree but my statement was based on the assumption people were using the freebie 8.4V battery and besides don't they already fire at 1 joule? I know mine does.

  4. If anybody in the UK wants to donate their broken cocking handle to me I'd appreciate it.

The one one my G&G gun fell off somewhere and went AWOL. I'm sure I could figure out a way to attach the Army one to replace it. :D

If I can manage to get a replacement new type then I have no problem with donating mine.

well used my gun today and it stoped firering, took it apart and its striped the teeth off the piston, yay!

It's funny how some people put several thousand rounds through an R85 without a hitch yet some people have one break so quickly. Although I guess it's a case of when it happens not if.

As someone has suggested it would be an ideal time to fit a regular piston with the spacer, note it isn't completely necessary to fit a standard marui sector gear it just depends of you want to retain the pre-cocking mechanism.

  5. I wouldn't worry,i was one of the first ones to get one of these guns & it seems like mine is one of the newer gun.Maybe the factory was getting rid of the ones that didn't meet standard along with the good ones so they could fill orders?

I received mine at the back end of last week and it appears to be the old type, cocking handle attached to blowback plate with some adhesive? I haven't had any problems though so can't grumble and i'm sure if I did Keith could source me a new replacement :P

On a side note for some reason semi is fine with blowback engaged but when the cocking handle is held to the rear it takes two trigger pulls to fire. First pull brings back the piston second pull fires off two shots! odd?

  6. I wasn't planning on going home this weekend but since my R85 has just turned up I think I might have to! and no customs charges for a change either bonus.

To all the people getting the 7.2v batteries-the only thing to look out for is to make sure they have a high discharge current i.e 35A or 50A (A=amp) like the ones here or it won`t give you enough current to turn the motor over.

Great link neo and to think I paid a small fortune for my 12V battery from the states to

  7. Hi guys hope you don't mind me asking this here but seeing as its the glock thread thought this is probably the best place to get an opinion.

Anyway to my question, I'm looking to get a metal slide and outer barrel for my KSC 18c and was searching to see if there was anything else available other than the standard black one.

I have been browsing den trinity and saw this slide. fifth from the top (obviously named glock 18c slide).

Anyway it looks like a bronze colour in the picture, does anyone know if this is just down to bad lighting or is it actually like this?

I only ask as I have previously looked for WA 1911 slides and half of them never look the colour it says they are.

  8. hello all, cant be arsed to look at the whole thread to see if this has come up befor.

but does any one know of a air nozzel other than STARS own that fits the m249.

air is escaping around the air nozzel, so a new nozzel or cylinder head is needed.

If you clearly admit you can't be arsed to look and help yourself do you think other people will be keen to help you?

Have you tried searching the topic for "air nozzle" I jus did it quick and it brought up 3 pages of results from this thread (search bar just at bottom of page)

  9. On the question of dividing the existing sub-forums until a more permenant system can be implemented, I will work on this over the next couple of days.  I will be keeping it simple though as creating too many sub-forums is only going to result in buyers not being able to find what they want and some sellers not knowing where their sale should be posted.

I agree even with the current layout some people struggle to actually post in the for sale section of the forum.

We all know that when you buy something from HK etc postage starts quite high and then only goes up slightly for the more you order. So a group buying forum would be where you post if you were planning an order from HK or somewhere so other people can arrange to have you add things to the order for them therefore lowering the postage for all of you.

Isn't this against the site rules?

  10. cheers then shao

i guess that's what i get for trying to help people

    oh well

no joint orders for people i guess, and more money for UPS etc

    :(

    *sighs*

I'm sure your offer was appreciated but look at it from the site and admin's point of view. They have to enforce the forum rules to prevent any posts which could land them in serious trouble with the law etc

It forums (not just this one) we're not moderated there would be chaos and no doubt plenty of legal action to shut them down.

    P.S yes UPS do suck!

  11. Good call i was going to make a thread yesterday regarding voluntary donations.

I'm pretty clued up with computers but must admit webhosting and the costs involved is beyond me. All i know is that it costs a substantial amount to maintain a site, especially one as large and popular as this.

I'm a member of another forum (www.turbominis.co.uk) which has only a fraction of the users this site has but it has an easy and clear way of making voluntary donations plus you get a little logo under your name when posting to show you have contributed. This isn't to make people feel pressured to contribute but to lets say encourage?

This again is probably only for R22 or Arnies attention but it would be good to see other members feedback on such an idea!

Lets be honest how many people use the site to their advantage and make some money? or even gain a wealth of knowledge through the help given by others. Would a small donation be too much to ask?

If Arnie, R22 or any off the mods want more info on how the system works on the aforementioned site feel free to ask! or you could check out the site and see for yourself.

on a side note perhaps contributions towards upgrades and maintainence would stop people complaining and slagging the site when it has problems.

  12. I noticed this myself, i think to close the sitedown for a while to sort out all the issues is the best bet.

The recent thread regarding connection limits mentions people opening multiple threads at the same time resulting in a system crash. Thats a fair point but what makes it worse is that as the site is down for a duration due to reboot etc then as soon as its up again everyone rushes to check all their threads resulting in you guessed it, another crash.

    Bit of a catch 22 situation ?
