  1. Well, I think I must have had some bad luck. Almost two weeks ago, I took mine out for a skirmish.

First, the blowback rod snapped and then, about an hour later, the gears exploded (on a 9.6V battery). Now need new gears and and bearings as the bushings got raped in the process. I'm always replacing mechbox parts but very rarely replace the gears as I never need to. Can anyone recommend a good set that isn't expensive?

    Cheers

  2. Got my PMC version yesterday and a big thanks to everyone who has provided loads of useful info.

One question though, the blowback rod detached from the piston so I removed it completely.

Bit unsure of reinstallation back into the piston, have I missed something? Do I have to get the gearbox out of the receiver to reinstall or am I being a fool? (maybe don't answer that last one ;))

    Thanks :)

  3. I cut my stock barrel with a bog standard 50 year old pipe cutter. Not difficult at all. Then once you have cut the end off you can use the triangular extension on the end of the pipe cutter for rounding off any burrs on the inside of the barrel.

I have a prometheus barrel in it now which i had to cut down with a dremel as it was too hard for the pipe cutter. Still used the same extension for rounding the burrs off.

It's not difficult and aslong as you properly round the burrs off the inside (with what is essentially a triangular piece of metal) so it's nice and smooth you should lose any of the "extreme precision that comes with my TM rifle"
