  1. The red dot's great. I put a review of the unit in the tactical equipment and accessories review section if you need more in depth info.

I may not be able to compare to the star version, but I can say that it's perfectly usable.

  2. Here is a picture of the windage and elevation adjustment slots (adjusted using an allen key)

And here is a picture of the on off switch for the dot, along with the windage and elevation adjustments for the laser, which are unmarked and use a smaller allen key. Notice how the unit is attached to the rail with a large screw similar to those used on eotechs.

Overall, the unit works beautifully, albeit with some cosmetic flaws. I’d say that it was worth the money, especially since the unit doesn’t have to be used on the G36 carry handle and can be attached onto anything with a rail, as seen in the beauty shots below.

  3. Here it is, ordered from gunnerairsoft about a week ago, and I just got it a few days ago.

At $53 USD, this thing may seem a bit pricey compared to other red dots on the market like the G&P aimpoint, but it makes up for it with its uniqueness in shape as well as with its dual rds and laser function. First off, the whole unit is built from metal and feels both hefty and sturdy. The paint seems like it’ll hold up fine and won’t be prone to chipping.

However, there is one big problem with the unit, which may or may not be present on others depending on the QC of the unit. The picture below shows two problems. First, the scope isn’t actually centered in the unit and you can actually see a bit of its insides. There is a sheet of glass in front of the scope though, so there won’t be any problems with dirt or water getting in through the gap. It also doesn’t seem to affect the picture or function of the scope, so it’s more of a cosmetic problem.

The second problem is the spring that is visibly pressing against the laser unit. Not only does it seem like an eyesore, but because there is no glass cover on this part, that spring could possibly fall out and ruin the windage and elevation adjustments. The spring also came misaligned so that it didn’t provide enough elevation, which was quickly fixed by carefully pushing it under the laser more. Overall, these were the two biggest problems for me, but for those who aren’t perfectionists, it’ll all work out as these problems don’t really affect the function of the unit (unless that spring falls out).

    Now onto the red dot.

    IMG_0303.jpg

Notice how the unit doesn’t sit flush with the G36 carry handle, and that the switch for the laser is on the left (requires 3 lr44 batteries)

The dot is nice and round as well as clear and bright. It holds up well in bright environments and is visible even when aiming at the sky. However, there are no intensity adjustments for the dot, and although the dot also works fine in dark environments, some glare from the dot may be visible. The field of view is slightly smaller than that of an aimpoint, but still works fine.

Shooting with the dot works beautifully just like any other rds, and the parallax on the dot when looking from at it from different angles is minimal, as shown in the pictures below.

  4. The first step to true g36 happiness is accepting that whilst the sight unit is cool, its pretty *suitcasey*, and is best replaced with a g36c rail, or better yet, the sl8-6 rail wink.gif

Yeah, I've been struggling with that and switching between the c rail and optics handle every couple months. It just looks so sexy with the optics handle though! I guess the best option would just be an aimpoint on the c rail. I still like the magnification of the optics handle though, so if anyone can show me a g36 with an aimpoint and magnifier, that would help ease the pain.

  5. I already have the reflex sight, but it just didn't look good enough for me. The reason I don't want the micro, doctor, or eotech is because all I've found through research is that they don't perform well, especially with windage and elevation adjustments, which is a big problem when they'll be mounted so high up. The s point also seems to have gotten bad reviews also. I was wondering if anyone has pictures of a g36 carry handle optic with a 30mm rds like the G&P delta sight or something less common.

The reflex sight jutting out up there just seems to ruin the lines of the g36. Something flatter or horizontal would seem to compliment it better

  6. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good rds to put on top of a g36k with an optics handle? I want something low profile that's not an ap micro or doctor sight, and not an eotech. I've been thinking of the G&P ap m2, but it just seems a bit odd so high up there, and it kinda ruins the sleekness of the g36.

  7. What make is that, and how do you like it?

Scharf got it right, it's a cm031. Back in the day it was great, but now I would really like a vfc styled ak over a tm style since it seems that vfc ones are built more solid. Over the years, it's started to wobble and creak, but I gave it a make over internally and did some light wearing externally to tide me over until I can get a broken kalash ak that I can transfer the internals into.

  8. midnight_sailor: that looks a lot like a hogue grip. Mind telling us what it is and how you managed to install it on a hi-capa?

I talked about that awhile ago in this thread, but basically its a grip for a para ordnance p14, and I just had to do a lot of dremelling in some obvious spots until it would fit.

  9. Dropping in a G&G M14 would be impossible, as it has different internals. I wish it would though b/c i already have a G&G in the closet. tongue.gif I have as yet been unable to determine whether a marui or 100% marui-clone AEG(ie CYMA, ECHO1) will drop in, as this gun uses the same GB as the AGM, which uses a standard spur gear, rather than the V7 spur gear. This makes the GB in this gun slightly larger. again, if ordering replacement gears for this gun, order a standard gearset, not the m14-specific set.

NeoVeNoM in the M14 picture thread was able to fit CYMA soc16 internals and barrel assembly into the stock

  10. if you did a guide that would be awesome...

i plan to attempt this in the next couple of weeks.

It's a bit too late since I glued the grip on in order to have a secure fit, but all it really is is seeing where the grip doesn't fit right and grinding that part down. Just to let you know though, I had to grind down the back and top parts of it, as well as grind the original pistol grip around the screw area to actually let the screw reach the threading. Since the bottom part of the original pistol grip doesn't have holes for screws, I drilled in holes and eventually glued in the screws as well since they wore out the plastic threading in the holes. It gets pretty messy and ugly with all the grinding, so gluing everything down permanently gave me peace of mind and helped to fill out uneven parts from the grinding. I would say that if there is any better method than this, take it, because there were a lot of times where I thought I had done irreparable damage to something.

  11. love the grip... was it anything extraordinary? or can any old schmo do it?

    me being the schmo? lol

It was my first time doing it myself, so as long as you have a dremel and the will to risk $30 on the grip and mods, you're good to go.
