  1. What pack is that though, Souske?

I love the budget look =P. Great for people who don't want to spend outrageous amounts of money on their gear.

    TAA

Heh, it's the [insert name here] 3 Day Pack. I've seen it branded as Condor, OE Tech, Mil-Spec. On CheaperThanDirt, it's called the MOLLE Assault Backpack.

  2. I think build wise, Proud's gear is okay (I've only ever owned one item made by Proud of course, so I can't say for certain) and I was actually looking at the Proud HPC myself. What puts me off is the fact that Proud's colours are horrible.

Their OD is more like a smoke or ranger green (it's a darker grey/green compared to Bulle / Warrior / Pantac's OD.. actually, it looks a lot like Blackhawk's OD. See the Naglene pouch on the first picture of my FSBE to see what I mean) and that's the reason I sold my Proud MAP. Their Coyote Brown often looks like Coyote Pink or Coyote Purple which is why I decided not to get their HPC.

  3. The build of the Bulle FSBE is.. solid, to say the least and certainly on par with the other Bulle gear I've owned. I'm 5'8 with approximately a 38" chest and it fitted me fine although I don't know how much smaller it would go. My only real issue was, when loaded up, it was a pain to reach the clips on the sides to do it up on your own. Yay the buddy system!

The backpack is a Phantom (well Pantac now) MAP which is a copy of the Eagle MAP.. and yes, it attaches to the FSBE by MOLLE although some versions also come with shoulder straps that can be hidden or removed if you don't need them. Alternatively you might want to consider the Warrior Cargo Pack over at uktactical, and the fact that Warrior's OD and Bulle's OD is almost identical is a big plus :)

  4. Looking good, dude! The ABU really doesn't look that bad once you put a load of tan and CB gear over it, does it? :D

One thing to note about the Safariland and the AEP - I've owned both (although not at the same time) and the dimensions of my M9 AEP are different to my old TM M9 GBB so it might not fit.

  5. Hey Daz, because the CASV is only attached to the top of the reciever do you find there is quite a lot of movement in the CASV cage when you hold the vertical foregrip? I find I can move the grip to the left and right quite easily, effectively twisting the entire cage. And that's with the extra delta ring attachment fitted :(

  6. Siygess that loadout is looking really good

Thanks - personally, I think it looks a little.. underwhelming. Maybe it will look better once I've got a backpack and harness, but I'm contemplating selling the Pantac CIRAS and getting a small plate carrier (probably the DBT FAPC, as a stand in for the Paraclete HPC). Sometimes you do see PJ's with just a PACA and the Eagle Air Rescue Vest but most of the time they have a plate carrier of some sort.

Hey siygess what headset is that?

It's the Peltor 6s - these things are really cheap now (you can pick then up for about $60). They are just electronic hearing protection though, which is why I have the earpiece / mic from my Bowman copy underneath. It's a comfortable fit, but it does affect your hearing somewhat.

  7. This is my first pass at a lightweight PJ loadout on a budget, to be used with WC and DCU. I've got some desert boots and a BHI PRL on the way, so I just need to get a few carabiners, the harness (most likely one of the Black Diamond models) and a medical backpack of some sort.. maybe the Pantac copy of the Eagle backpack, or perhaps I'll just get the old Warrior 3 Day pack. I'll probably loose the Pantac blast belt at that point, because I imagine it will get in the way of the harness.

After that, I can go through and replace the shiny Pantac pouches (and put them back on the CIRAS!) and add a few more touches like some rescue shears.. oh, and invest in some ESS Turbofan goggles so I can actually skirmish in this without being blinded by the fog!

Sorry for the picture quality - hard as it is to believe, this is the best of the pictures I took this morning!

  8. It's worth noting that pararescue.com has a pretty good gallery and video section. If you look closely you can can see modern-ish PJ pics (i.e. post ALICE gear) in US Woodland, with tan / cb gear.. mostly from training excercises. This is good news for people like me who are too poor to buy two lots of gear. Now I can more or less get away with one tan setup to go over tri-col and woodland camo :D

It's also worth browsing the photo section of the RAF Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall websites as there are a few lesser-seen PJ pics hiding in there (the 56th RQS and 321st STS are based there, respectively)

  9. Agreed. Right now my PJ(ish) loadout is very similar to Titleist's old loadout (only in my case, it's all repro. No Eagle for me :() and I also find the CIRAS too bulky for my tastes. For a lightweight setup, I guess it's really got to be a PACA and the ARV or the TT Mav. The only real difference is modularity, since the Eagle ARV (or the Pantac repro) feature a fixed pouch setup.

  10. I wonder if we can get Titleist or Havoc to post in this thread.. they have both got pretty nice PJ loadouts :)

It's interesting, though, to see such a wide variety of gear being used by AF SOF. Looking at vests / LBE used by the PJ's alone, you can see everything from ALICE gear and FLCs to RAVs and TT MAVs.. often in the same picture.

  11. only thing im not fussed on about the Krukspec shirts, the Us Woodland's torso is black from what i can see on their website.

Nope, those pictures aren't really accurate (because the Krukspec shirts don't have mandarin collars, even though the picture shows them with said collar). The body on my US Woodland Krukspec shirt is OD :)

  12. Beats me - I brought it off the forums as a generic "PT Style Armour" and I assumed it would be the eHobby one at the time. Ballistic Technologies (the company) seems to exist but they dont make armour any more so I can't find out any more about it. It does have soft inserts but they may be just to pad it out. The only thing I know is "fake" are the two cardboard SAPI plates I made to put in it :)

EDIT: *lol* Good point, I never noticed the spelling. Maybe it's a clone of some armour BT used to make - who knows?

  13. My Ghost Recon 2 loadout is coming along slowly although I've added / replaced a few things since my last post. I'm waiting for a Krukspec combat shirt in US Woodland and I'll probably get some TRUSPEC trousers in the TRU uniform style as well. Then I just need another WAS Small Utility pouch, a foldable dump pouch and another Maxpedition Keyper to finish this off..

Label on the PT armour - is this real deal or does the version from e-hobby come with this as well? All I know for sure is that the previous owner was called Mike :)

  14. I've got a way to go, but this is going to be a GR2-inspired loadout (so I guess I have Jagdraben to thank for that :P). It was going to be a direct copy of Burke's loadout according to her concept art, mainly because I could re-use the bits and pieces from my BHD Delta stuff.. but lets face it, I've been looking for an excuse to switch to MOLLE gear for a while and this is probably just a stepping stone to a CIRAS anyway :D

Next step is a BHI Daypack and, when they release it, the AIM under-armour shirt in US Woodland, plus trousers and MICH cover in the same. Change the pouches on my MLE to match the Eagle Air Rescue vest and then I'm good to go.

Well, apart from the numerous and equally expensive finishing touches..

EDIT: Hey HaVoC, what day were you planning to go to Beltring? I've been going there for the last few years and it would be nice to see a a good PJ loadout up close :D
